  1. Awesome! Glad to have you in the sport and serving in your capacity.

Does your 320 have an added magwell or compensator? If not and if your magazines are less than 140mm, you’ll be fine in CO at level one matches.

If you wish to shoot level 2 and up matches, you will have to make sure your holster setup is within spec.

    Good luck and have fun!

I already bought it up in another post is the reason for my snarky post. It was not directed towards you.

I essentially outlined stock as the original posters quotes with a minimum trigger pull.  It was received about as well as expected.

This discussion seems to be bringing up the same talking points.

The beatings will continue until moral improves.

    Gotcha!

    You don't say.

Yeah, I know. There are some that like the idea and some that don’t. I don’t really care either way. Just kinda tossing it out there for conversation fodder.

pros and cons of minimum trigger pull weight?

we already have power factor measurement that can vary according to weather/equipment/operator. If you play too close to the razors edge minimum, you stand a chance of not having success. Same could be said for trigger pull weight. Thoughts?

  4. An eas(ier) way to enforce the spring issue is by having a minimum trigger pull weight.

who cares if recoil or firing pin springs are changed. Tune the gun to the bullet load fine, just don’t fiddle with trigger pull weight.

I don’t know if I’d shoot it but maybe.

I'm not going to tell you "this brand is THE one you want" for every single item.  Sometimes brand matters, most of the time it doesn't.

You need a double layer competition belt.  Double Alpha, CRSpeed, Shooters Connection, Black Scorpion, Guga Ribas all make them and they all work about the same.  I've owned Double Alpha and Shooters Connection.  Of those two the Shooters Connection belt is stiffer in torsion (where it matters the most).

You need a holster.  Red Hill Tactical is good.  GX Products is good (if you can stomach the excessive lead time).  Comp-Tac is good too and is available without a long wait.  I've been using one forever for a P-09 and a P-10F and it works just fine.  IMO the dual layer kydex holsters are a gimmick.  They are supposed to be stiffer but I'm not sure what that does for you.  Supposedly the gun won't hang up on the draw, well, my pistol has never hung up on a Comp-Tac during the draw once I adjusted the retention screws properly.  A proper holster hanger and belt are far far more important than how stiff you make a plastic holster.

You need a holster hanger.  It needs to made of metal (aluminum is plenty strong).  It needs to let you adjust how high your pistol hangs so that you can comply with USPSA production and carry optic rules regarding that subject (and you DO need to read the rules particularly the Appendices on Production and Carry Optics).  It needs to clamp on securely to your belt.  It needs to let you adjust the holster's angle from vertical.  Ben Stoger Pro Shop's BOSS is the standard by which all others are measured.  Springer makes one.  CR Speed makes one (CBAX Production hanger).  There might be some others out there too.

You need mag pouches.  Minimum of five for Production and minimum of three for Carry Optics.  If you live somewhere where you're limited to 10 rounds in your magazines, put five pouches on the belt and be done.  The same brands I mentioned in the belt section also make pouches.  They mostly all do the same thing the same way.  Don't sweat this too much.

Mag base pads.  Leave your mags alone if you're going to shoot production.  You gain nothing with aftermarket base pads.  For carry optics there are choices: Springer, Henning, Armory Craft, Taran Tactical, Taylor Freelance and CZ Custom all make them.  IMO Henning base pads have the best latch system, which is why I use them.

Now, I don't know about where you live but where I live Production is virtually dead.  A year and a half ago it wasn't hard to find 15 or 20 people in Production at local monthly matches.  Now it's hard to find 10.  Most often there's five or less signed up.  Carry Optics here (W Ohio) is second overall in match attendance, and not too far off from the most popular division (Limited).  IMO Carry Optics is the way of the future.  I've already made all my pistol optics ready (either came that way or I had the slide milled).  My real carry guns all have reflex sights (aka red dot).

As far as your pistol goes you have two options: buy a Shadow 2 Optics Ready slide and send it to CZ custom to fit a bushing to it or send your slide to CZ Custom to be fitted for their optics adapter plates.  You WANT an adapter plate system on your pistol.  That way you're not married to a particular footprint/brand of optic.  Right now Trijicon is king of the hill in reliability and Holosun is not far behing.  They both use the same foot print.  But who knows what will happen in the future.  Someone else could dethrone them with a revolutionary development and if your pistol is hard milled to accept only Trijicon or Holosun sights you have no options other than a new slide.

All really good points. And yep, most times, brand doesn’t matter. Edited my post to reflect.

i'm cz s2 orange owner has 6 factory mags, glass,MSA Supreme Pro-X,that's all i have at moment,i want to know what elas i need for uspsa production/carry op,need recommendation like mags/mags pad/holster/Belt/etc....

    thanks

As posted below, brands don’t really matter but here is what I’ve had success with:

Red Hill Tactical Holster With Springer precision or similar Hanger (holster mount)

Double Alpha competition belt (follow instructions on measurement for size)

    CR speed mag pouches

For production You can get the brass magazine base pads if you want a little extra weight to help them fall but CZs don’t really need them. For CO, I like the Tarn Tactical ease of disassembly for cleaning mags.

For Carry optics you’ll need an optic. Don’t know if your S2 Orange has the cut with plate system or not. If not, I would research and figure out which optic you want and get the slide milled for that optic. I’d look hard at the Trijion SRO as that seems to be the most sturdy option at this time.

    Hope that helps.

I wish it were required at level 1 to be honest. It's very little cost compared to everything else for a match. I hate the $1 cans of walmart paint but that's an option.

I am a bit annoyed though that Steel Target Paint is sponsoring matches (or at least giving stuff to competitors on the prize table/goodie bag/etc. and the club doesn't even use their product....even at Nationals.

They used Steel Target Paint at Classic Nationals.

  8. So I think the issue with calibration is that the popper may have moved a little from the first bullet but not enough to fall. The second (calibration) bullet may be enough to continue the knock down but might not have been enough if the popper was in its original unfired-upon position.

But: at area 6, I saw a competitor win a popper calibration. First time for that.

    What about this?:

the hit was clearly full diameter in or above the proper area of the popper and it didn’t fall.
Then, the popper must be manually knocked over by fist/etc and set back up before the calibration shot is fired.

Or we could just get rid of big poppers.

So a loose barrel and rounds and the checker tapping the tight ones in with a ball-peen hammer would be ok?  😈

I wouldn’t call that chamber checking.

The definitions of "loaded firearm" and "loading" don't require the firearm to be functional...

Those definitions do use the term ‘firearm’

I think most here would agree that a barrel or upper separated from the receiver is not a firearm.

Besides perception, would it matter if it was a PCC or rifle upper?

Not one bit. I would treat both the same.

neither a barrel by itself or an upper (with or without BCG) is considered a firearm. Just a part of one.

however, I would personally be more aware of where I was pointing the AR upper. I wouldn’t go ‘aiming’ the pistol barrel at anyone either.

so, a bit of a tangent:

I was thinking, what if this was a revolver without an easily removable cylinder or a fixed barrel firearm like a beretta?  Can’t handle live or dummy ammo in safe area. Soooo if that was the case I would ask if an RO/or other official was available to Supervise at a vacant bay or see if the chrono folks weren’t too busy. They can issue the make ready to start the process. I could take the slide off, chamber check, reassemble And they could issue proper commands back to the bag or holster. Simple, safe, legal per rules.

  11. I wouldn’t think that is a problem. I don’t remember seeing anything like that in the rule book.

Was it a handgun or rifle?

i ask this because you mention ‘muzzling everyone’. Not at all an issue with a handgun in my opinion but I could see where the perception could change if it were a rifle barrel. I don’t think it’s less safe, just the difference in perception of those having a rifle barrel pointed at them.

now if it were a rifle or PCC upper, even without the BCG, again perception could be even worse.

just thinking out loud here and would like more specifics.

Also, if mandated to shoot weak or strong hand only, you can't touch anything either.

I didn’t see where it said in 10.2.8 that you couldn’t rest against the inside of a port with only the hand specified if the port is part of a wall that is part of the shooting area. Is that what you meant by “can’t touch anything either”?

Sorry, I don't have TB data for sure for anything that heavy.  But I seem to recall that 10g with a 180 was popular for a while.  I'd suggest you do some research before you try it.  For primers, I'd stick with rifle primers bc you're probably looking at 30k+ psi.

Copy that. I really just started with the 300 so I’m not in a hurry.

H110 for standard loads.  Trail Boss for subsonic.

I’ve  got some TB and Hornady 208 AMax Bullets. What would be a good starting point with this combo?

also, is it necessary to run rifle primers or will small pistol work?

    thanks!

    Voted banner ads.

The Hobby-Machinist Forum (just another forum I use, in addition to the aforementioned Rimfire Central) uses banner ads, but certain features (the search function, among other things) are restricted to those who donate $10 per year or more. New users can see how much the forum is worth before donating, but actually do gain something useful when donating. Maybe a good idea? We'd all have to quit chewing people out for not using the search function before starting a thread though...

I am a new member. Lurked for a couple of years. I wouldn't have joined if even $1 was required before seeing the forum. I think you'd lose many possible new members if something was charged right from the get-go.

I like the idea of being able to browse, but not search or post, for free. That way you can see what you get. If you want to ask a question or join the forum, then charge the yearly membership fee.

Not that everyone would stay but there are well over 30k members. I think somebody said like 20k are active? So even if half that is the case that’s 10k. So $50,000?

This is why I said $1 would be plenty. It can’t be anywhere near $10,000 a year to host a forum can it?

that’s about what I thought. Seems like it would be worth it for $5/year. I don’t think we’d lose that many.
