Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I'm getting ready to jump into reloading. I've considered it over the years but the constant moves with the military often resulted in areas that weren't the best to support a lot of shooting sports and a general lack of time. Now, on the final assignment and permanent location, I'm about to take the plunge. I'm not a stranger to firearms...nor to explosive components, as I served for many years in the Explosive Ordnance Disposal field. I've pretty much decided I want to start with a progressive press and I've been looking at both RCBS and Dillon, the latter bringing me to this forum. Primary interest is in reloading .300 Wby Mag rounds (there's a cost saving issue there ;p ) and then some 7mm-08 Remington rounds. Don't currently own any pistols but likely will pick up one or two next year. I've noticed a lot of concentration on the XL650 areas on pistol cartridges. The various RCBS sites seem to have a greater portion on rifle cartridges. While MEC may be solely shotgun, one question comes down to the suitability of the Dillon to rifle reloading versus the RCBS. Is there a concern here or not? With the proper dies, it should handle the various rifle cartidges out there as easily as pistol cartridges, correct? Also, would appreciate any opinions on the RCBS versus Dillon and suggestions at additional items to start out with the XL650. Thanks!
