  1. Trigger freeze always gets me too.
  2. This is why I always remove all live ammo from my dry fire space.
  3. For someone with limited time to train, what would be the three key things to focus on.
  4. Always around 200 or so rounds for me.
  5. That's the route I would go if I were to do it again. I personally think RHT is way overhyped.

    Shadow 2 Grips

I’ve tried VZ thin diamondbacks, Scales 2.0, Lok Thin Bogies, CZ Thin Lemon Graters, Rubber SP-01 grips, and Lok S2-specific Bogies. I settled on a pair of S2-specific Palm Swell Grips in Jayson’s Roughneck texture. Great grips and very aggressive. If someone made grips with the profile of the Scales and the texture of the Roughnecks or Diamondbacks, they would be perfect.
  7. Derp. Should have figured out the initials. What's up Evan.
  8. Both myself and @762rocstarr are local to you. Rocstarr is a lefty who shoots single stack. There are a number of custom smiths in the area that could build you a fantastic competition gun. I'd check out his builds before deciding on anything. We'll both be at the Ike's USPSA match tomorrow if you wanna stop by.
  9. I've thought about selling my 2 Shadow 2s and consolidating my guns to just Glocks. I already have a G34 (along with a 26, 19, 43, 20...) And then I hold both the Shadow 2 and 34 back to back, and realize how much I'm fighting the G34 vs. the Shadow in terms of comfort, how much more focus I have to have on the trigger pull with the Glock, and all thoughts of consolidation go away. I like Glocks quite a bit for defensive use. I think they take quite a bit of $$ and tinkering to get them to run head-to-head against a bone stock Shadow 2. There's a reason the Glock sponsored shooters shoot in Limited and not Production.

    That does. Thankee sir.

    Shadow 2 Grip Screws

I usually screw in until I feel a bit of resistance, but may have overtorqued the screws by mistake last time. Wasn't a backing out issue - I've been using o-rings and have had no problems. Just want to go to nylon so I don't mess up the threads taking the grips on and off in the future.

    Shadow 2 Grip Screws

Does anyone know if the Shadow 2 differs from the normal grip screw dimensions for CZs? Looking to order some nylon screws after a close call with stripping the frame threads. I've seen M3.5 x .6 x 6mm thrown around as the standard CZ grip screw size. Does that hold true for the S2? Thanks.

  14. I run Mec-Gar mags almost exclusively. Only issue I've had with them was with the Shock Bottle base pads. With stock base pads, they've run perfectly. I've shot 10 matches in a variety of conditions and have yet to clean them. Still running fine.

    PT Evo-Like Grips

After a bit of a wait, I received my Lok Shadow 2 Palm Swell Grips in the Roughneck pattern today. After comparing side-by-side, this is by far the closest in texture to the PT Evo grips that I've come across. Very happy with these grips, although I think the Bogies are also excellent.
  16. @rowdyb What are your thoughts on the stock recoil spring vs. the 11# when shooting primarily 115 grain factory ammo?
  17. My personal Shadow 2s have the CGW S-2 kit with bushing installed by my gunsmith. DA is 6.5-7 or so, 2-ish pounds SA. I've felt a CZC Shadow that was worked on by CZC themselves. I felt the DA wasn't quite there, but the SA felt as good, maybe a bit better, than my S2. Can't really go wrong with either. I've had better support from Cajun over the phone - CZC seems a bit more formal and business-like when I call them. Cajun will actually call me back even when I haven't left a message.
  18. Cajun will release an RRK-3 kit once the new production rules take effect. I'd wait for that to come out before buying anything else. Any RRK kit would be illegal in production at this point, too.

Local USPSA Match 4/11/2018 Terrible match yesterday. Dead last in production. My stage plan fell apart a bit on the first stage - had some issues where I hit multiple targets with 4 shots as I didn't plot out where I would hit certain targets. Definitely something to work on. Second stage was brutal - had multiple issues with me either not letting go of the mag release after dropping a mag, and thus dropping a fresh mag, or bumping my mag release after the reload. Not exactly sure of the problem, but it ruined my stage. Third stage would have been okay if I didn't FTE one target. The transition to indoor matches to outdoor has been brutal. The good news is the hits were there and I had no issues engaging longer distance targets. Also felt like my DA trigger control was where it needed to be. https://practiscore.com/results/new/af90731c-f483-4e3f-9edf-83880578bb6a?q_division=5

Dry Fire 4/9/2018 30 mins Dry fires under speed (double action) Still pulling to the right slightly. Need to work on grip Reloads from first pouch 1.2 second par time Getting there. Too slow to get my hand on the mag pouch Burkett/Insertion drill .6 second par time -not beating the second buzzer by the time it goes off. .7 second par time -still working. Getting there. Need to drop mag AND find magazine pouch simultaneously. Draws from wrists above shoulders.
  21. Yea, it just wasn't a risk I was willing to take, especially when I don't really need them for additional capacity.
  22. I would avoid the Shock Bottle base pads - they allow for overinsertion if you shoot to slide lock. Shock bottle is supposed to send me a prototype of a new design, as it seems it's an issue they are aware of. I'm dubious if that will really happen.

Dry Fire 4/8/2018 60 mins These are practiced as laid out in Stoeger's Dry Fire: Reloaded book. I'm very limited on space atm, so I'm probably a little short of 7 yards distance with the scaled down targets I'm using. Draws - .95 par time -Having trouble finding front sight on these before the par time ends. Needs more work. Trigger control at speed -issues with hand cramping. This one will take time to master, but is probably most important at this point. Reloads from first pouch 1.3 seconds par time Achieving this roughly 40% of the time. Struggling with my reloads in practice for some reason lately. I've recently switched from empty mag practice to using weighted dummy rounds, so that's probably part of it. Burkett load .8 second par time Just a few of these. Was able to hit this 90% of the time Finished up with some transition work after drawing from the holster. Next local match is Tuesday evening, provided the weather cooperates.
