  1. This! Paul has been great about communication. He's pointed me in the right direction a couple of times already. What's this about an ultralight barrel?!
  2. I hear ya. I live and work right by Sig HQ and their Academy/Pro Shop. It's all I can do to not run in and buy one and you guys aren't helping!
  3. I got one when Primary Arms had a screaming special on them a couple of months ago. I just got an email that my EDC Tactical lower shipped, so I should have it up and running in the next few days. I've already spec'ed out a Taccom buffer and Hiperfire Eclipse to round things out.
  4. I don't see a "no Hiperfire" note for Battle Arms Development (unlike the Seekins I had originally suggested).
  5. I'll be buying one either way. Heck, I bought an Aridus shroud over a year ago in anticipation of the purchase. My big hang up was 21" vs. 24". I'm about 75% sure I'm going 24".
  6. From TFB: "The rear of the latch is recessed to protect it from being bumped. This maintains the feature of being able to quickly empty the magazine tube when you want to." http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2018/01/23/shot-2018-beretta-1301-tactical-now-fde-aridus-upgrades/
  7. Haven't been down there yet. If I'm not deployed, I plan on going to Pemigewasset Valley for the 3-gun test and tune next month.
  8. I hear if you use a deodorant crystal, you instantly go up one class.
  9. I'm a big fan of Chinook Medical, they have a lot of experience and put a lot of thought into the size and usability of their gear. At 5.5” x 2.75” x 2.5”, the MiniFAK would be good on a competition rig.
  10. That's almost as bad as realizing 1km away from your buggy that half of your mag pouches are full of rip-its instead of rifle mags. I'll do my best to keep my competition rig energy drink-free.
  11. At SHOT show Beretta showed off a re-design of the bolt release latch on the 1301 Tactical. Has anyone heard about that migrating to the Comp? Beretta's website doesn't say anything about it.
  12. I'm sorry to hear you were hit with so much at the same time as your retirement. I had high hopes of spending a lot more "me" shooting time after my military retirement. Here I am l almost 9 years later wondering where all that time and energy I was supposed to have after retiring is. Realizing it is not going to get any easier, this year I am focusing on more recreational and competitive shooting. The therapeutic value and opportunity to hang out with others is too valuable to keep missing out on. Two years ago, my parents moved out of California after a lifetime there. Second best thing they ever did.
  13. Both, really. I had had a membership at Major Waldren last year, was in the field for work during the planned safety shoot for new members and never got around to going back there. I helped out at a 1-day carbine course at Pioneer and the place seemed decent. Looks like they have a lot of events there.
  14. Deerfield/Candia area. I have 4-5 ranges around me, but they are all 45-60 min. away. The only exception is the Sig Academy, which is only 15 min., but they don't have an open range policy.
  15. I'm a new guy here fulfilling his New Year's resolution to shoot more. I grew up shooting and tried to get out when my deployment schedule would allow it. My experience with competition shooting is limited to some IDPA about 5 years ago and racing co-workers on a steel tree on range days at work. I'm looking forward to spending lots of time at various events in NH and Maine when we thaw out.
  16. I'm also a new guy here. I shot a little IDPA out of Scarborough when I worked out of Brunswick, but since living in NH and working in Kittery I haven't shot much of anything. My plan this year is to shoot more, with USPSA and precision rifle being a priority.
