  1. Thanks TG and Mike. I'll leave thing alone for now. Any thoughts on my reloading question. Cal. will be 38Spl. My current load is a 170 gr Billy bullet with 3 gr of clays. This was developed before the 105 power factor rule. My thinking was to use the same bullet and develope a load slow enough to be accurate and make the PF ??? Thanks for The Help Tim
  2. Thanks Mike, Yup that's what i have. The revo tuned up nicely with no problems from the floating hand. Can i replace it with the standard trigger and hand? New question. What's the prevaling wisdom on lower recoiling (feeling) (recovery) reloads. Heavy bullets at slow speed or lighter bullets moving fast? Thanks all.
  3. Hay everyone, Thanks for the info. I did get the revo. I decided to keep it as is. with the 105 power factor in ssr, my feeling is the quick recovery time will be more of and advantage then moon clips, (and cheaper) Question for Mike carmony. While tuning the action the hand seems to be staked into the trigger (not removable). and very sloppy Is this a flooting hand? Thanks again Tim
  4. Hay a little help from the forum. Can a 38 super safely make major in a S&W 686? I have a chance to get one real cheep, and was thinking it might make a great ESR gun for IDPA. Do you think it would be worth the effort and expence to modify the gun to the super? Is there any advantage to the modification? Or should i just get a 625!
  5. Thanks all for the info. Last year i filed a V notch in the factory rear. I seems to work OK. As mentioned , when shooting I'm never conscience of the rear sight. i only seem to use it when shooting smaller steel plates. Thanks again
  6. I have read in past posts, that many of you have replaced the factory rear sights with the sights of other manufacturers. What are the disadvantages of the factory sight? What are the advantages of the others? Thanks
  7. Never mind, i enlarged the photo saw the big HOGUE letters,
  8. Mike did you fabricate that cylinder release? If not where can I get one? Is it OK for revo. division? Nice revolver, Tim
  9. Nice revolver, who's cylinder release is that? Tha 646 i'm looking at has a dovetail front sight did you have yours modifyed? Their's much talk about sticty extraction, will standard cylinder hones work or do you need something special. Thanks again for all the informative replys my intrest has been renued.
  10. Thanks for replying to the question. I think I'll stick with the 625 and spend the money on ammunition and gas
  11. I would like some input from the forum about using the Smith 646 for USPS I use a 625 now and love it. But, always open for a change. I reload for 40 S&W so thats not a consideration. Some specific questions. Is the recoil and recovery time similar in both revolvers? what are the advantages and disadvantged to tY cylinders. Are moon clips available for this revolver? and if so who sells them. Any thing any one else can think of please pass it on. Thanks
  12. Thank all for the replys. I think I'll try and do the work myself. Mike thought that Jerrys DVD on home revolver smithing might be the way to . Any one have a link or contact point to get it. Thanks Again Tim
  13. I live in northern NY state i have been shooting usps at my local club for some time, and loving it. I think next year i would like to travel to other shoots in the northeast and would like to improve my revolver. I'm shooting a 625 from the pc shop, no other modifications. Over the winter i would like to send the revolver out. Are there any good people in the northeast who specialize in revolver work? Thanks Tim
  14. Thanks Dale, Balston spa is about 2 1/2 hrs from me (Cranberry lake) i shoot the state cowbow shoot there. After the holidays a rode trip to S&W sounds great I'll call ya.......................Thanks All Tim
  15. Unfortunally i live in the middel of no where, Adarondacks of northern NY so i think a trip back to S&W will be the next step.......... Thanks all
  16. A little help from the forum. I just picked up a 627 pc from a guy who monkeyed with the action and ruined it, He let me know up front that he did it, and sold me the revolver cheep.I shoot a 625 for comp. and love it I would like to get this 627 up and running. It will not be used for comp. I'll most likley hunt with it. so a full blown action job will not be necessary. I just want it safe and up to performance center standards (what ever that might be) Should i send it back to smith? or are there others out there doing revo. work that will do a better job for the same money. Thanks for the help
