  1. Since I started shooting revolvers 46 years ago I always did the spin test after I put a moon in or after loading the cylinder.
Well there will not be 47 years of doing that as when I was performing one I am not sure if I dropped the hammer(no spur) or pulled the trigger just a little to far.

Long story short, AD and I went home embarrassed as hell. To make matters worse I went the following week to the club I usually shoot at and my DQ preceded me and I got a lot of well deserved ribbing.
The worst thing about this is that I always check my moons in the cylinder the day before any match and check for high primers at that time and I have never had a problem. I did the spin test because I saw others do it and the sound was cool. Well I am not going to be cool anymore.

  2. Depends what day it is and who you talk to. I have purchased 8 shot cylinders and stars after I purchased I told 2 of my friends and they called and purchased. Later on someone else asked and I told them to call and they were told that cylinders and stars were not sold to the public. Go figure 😁

I think you are mistaking the 627 in .357 with the 627 in .38 Super.  The standard 627-5 is bringing in from $1100 to $1500 the last I looked.  627-4 from $2K up.  Haven't looked for a while though.

I thought it was about the Ruger Super Gp100. I have seen the 627 38 Super go from $1,600 to $2,700 though.

It's small but nonzero, and it's not just competitors—going by production numbers, way north of 90% of Super GP100s never see competition, even though they're ludicrously impractical for anything else.

In looking at Gunbroker sales, it appears the .357s are going at an almost reasonable $1400-$1500 lately, and the serial number on one looks up to a 2023 date of manufacture—it looks like they dropped a small batch recently.

Prior to the new batch they were bringing $2,300 to $2,500. Damm I wish I had sold mine. 😁

  5. Overpriced and over rated a S&W 627 with a trigger job and if you are determined to shoot 9mm have the cylinder reamed to 9mm. All of that can be done for under $2000. If you just want to spend that kind of money I have a 627 that can change cylinders between 38 special and 38 super has a custom barrel. I can let you have for $6000. In all honesty buy a S&W unless you just want a Korth.

  6. Simple solution VVN320 3.2 seated at 1.180 to 1.175. 128 to 130 PF from Florida, Colorado to Louisiana and in between. Altitude from 13’ to 4700’ and temperatures from 80 to 50. Measures great and burns super clean.

Cost a little more but one less thing to worry about as you travel to matches across America 🇺🇸

I've been looking for some Federal #100 SPP.  Saw Miwall in this thread and bought what I needed.  Mine came UPS.  I had the opportunity to change the delivery location to a local UPS Store.  Might have to do that next time.  Thanks for the lead on primers!

I like the Kansas talk - Lived in Dodge City for 3 years.

When did you live in Dodge? It was my home from 1991 to 2000.

  8. Sell it and buy a 627 5” have TK Customs ream/cut for 9mm, buy some lighter rebound springs, adjust/bend the mainspring and polish the internals/contact points. Remember the barrels on both revolvers are .357.
Also follow what toolguy said on the action it is more in depth than what I said.

With the 9mm conversion you will still be able to shoot 38 Special, .357, 38 Short and Long Colt. With the 929 it will be 9mm only and brass specific.

    I had purchased a

610 way back when S&W mad a small run but it had an 8 3/4 barrel.

When was this purchased and was it made for Lew Horton, Bangers or any of the distributors that have special runs made. To my knowledge and I have known to be wrong Smith never made one with that length and if they were made they would be the holy holy grail. The 5” and 3” demand high prices. Do not confuse the 3” with the 3 7/8”. They bring from $2500 to $3000 and a 8 3/4” would bring “who knows “ By chance do you still have the box it came in.

I bet that's why Dorothy is glad she ain't in Kansas anymore!

Actually she missed Kansas and wanted to go home. “There is no place like home” clicked her heels 👠 3 times. Bam she was back in Kansas. A little bit of trivia for the mis-informed 😁
