2021 3 Gun, Multigun, PCC Match Thread
verla replied to kellyn's topic in Multi-Gun, Rifle & Shotgun Match Announcements
Wish more 3-gun matches would be listed for the Midwest area! How about it people? -
Gary- What are the advantages of the 6 ARC vs the 6mm Creed? Have been shooting the 6 Creed for several years, like it, and doing well with it. Reloading is going well with a 108 gr ELD Hornady bullet using 41 gr of Hodgen 4350. Get less than 1/2 inch groups at 100 yds with my RPR. Group at 400 yds- oops threw one shot!

I use a MEC 9000G to load my cowboy shells. 1100fps, 1 oz, and they are soft shooting since cannot find WW factory low recoil shells (980fps). This press is economical, auto indexing, and runs well if maintained. Can load 2 boxes per half-hour easily and the crimps are great.

Any manufacturers still make a tungsten guide rod for XDm?
verla replied to JGus's topic in Springfield (XD)
The melting of the wheel weights poured in the hollow guide rod work great to reduce muzzle flip in my XDM 9mm. Do not have a tungsten guide rod to compare it to at this time. Springer precision may have made new tungsten guide rods, do not know. If they do someone may make the comparison RE muzzle flip- lead filled vs tungsten. -
shot the 9mm Canik TP9SFx today- 124 grain bullet PF about 135- the installed parts (tungsten guide rod and wolff 14# commander length recoil spring) helped the muzzle rise vs the factory parts. Would recommend them if you are going to use this pistol for competition.

SAR9, the budget Glock killer

If you are looking for a different holster try Concealment Express, they may have one and they are reasonably priced. -
have ordered both and waiting for them to arrive and test them- will post the results after I test the parts in the Canik TP9FSx.
-
If that is the case I will try the W74 tungsten guide rod with a 14# wolf commander length recoil spring.
-
I tried the sprinco guide rod assembly in my canik- it was only a little better in reducing the muzzle flip from recoil. Waiting to try the tungsten guide rod.
-
take a look at concealment express holsters for your canik
-
what tungsten guide rod did you install in the canik TP9FSx? i have one and the muzzle flips with a power factor of about 135 (124 grain bullet going about 1100fps)- what # recoil spring did you use? what manufacturer of recoil spring? did you cut any coils off of the spring? thanks. looking froeward to your response.

i shoot 124 grain bullets at about 1100fps and have a power factor of about 135 in my 9mm Canik TP9FSx, how does this compare with yours? recoil? muzzle flip? it is the muzzle flip that I want to tame. what # recoil spring and manufacturer would you use for this combination?
-
what # recoil spring do you use and what manufacturer of the spring?
-
mine is a Blackhawk- pistol just fits in it nicely and it is padded with handles. It is not too large.
-
who makes a tungsten guide rod for the TP9fsx? Mine has a lot of muzzle flip when firing- 135 power factor with 124 grain bullets. Need something to help!

like sarge, I melted some old wheel weights and poured the lead into the hollow guide rod- was free. The weight is almost the same as a tungsten insert and a lot cheaper. Works great to reduce muzzle flip. -
I have been shooting a Ruger 22/45 and MK III for several years- has Volquartsen firing pin, extractor and trigger in both. C-more 8MOA railway gives a good sight picture. CCI mini mags, and Winchester Super-X X22LR run great as well as Ely. Clean the guns after every match. Rifle is Ruger 10/22 with Volquartsen extractor and firing pin. Trigger is done by clark custom guns. Hogue stock for better grip in summer when sweating. Same C-more on this also. Use same ammo. It is not the arrow but the Indian that makes a difference when you step up to the line.

Have recently been using Eley Action Plus 42 grain in my steel challenge Ruger MKIII and 10/22. No problems with either gun using this ammo. Feeds well and have had no duds or misfires. Try it you will like it.

I am 79 and prefer the standard polymer with click switch (have several railways and RTS2's)- shoot with both eyes open with glasses (have astigmatism and lenses are progressive wide, trivex, polycarbonate). Have sunglasses as well as clear lenses. Am able to see red dot well depending upon light conditions. Glasses are from local optometrist in IN. Have a pair of skeet/trap glasses (orange lenses) with frames from Decot- they do great to see the orange targets. This is a versatile color to see the orange targets in various light conditions.

Get the adjustable comb stock. It will make the stock fit you better and you will shoot better- i.e. have better scores. Gun fit is VERY important in the shotgun games.

I purchased my Razor from Camera Land several years ago. Called them and negotiated a lower price- scope was a demo. Got it for about $1000 shipped, no tax. If they have one in stock, they may be willing to cut you a deal. Put it on a one piece extended mount. I have found this type to be the most secure and stable- negotiated a price with planet optics several years ago for a 30mm JP- free shipping and no tax.

An 18" bbl with a rifle length gas tube and an adjustable gas block makes the gun shoot softer. Try it on one of the skeletonized guns. You will like the result.

I have a gen 1 with the loading port opened up, extended lifter by c-rums, and an xs sight embedded in the sight rail. Gun functions great with 1145fps loads, shoots to POA with slugs (light mod choke tube), holds 9 shells (nordic components mag tube-they have larger ones for 9+). Like it better than my Benelli M2- less recoil with the kick off stock (a400 with recoil system). Try one, it will be a fantastic experience.
