A faster powder with heavy bullet will sometimes cause a squib. The JP-5 is about 5 PF less the my GMR-15 with the same load. I loaded a coated lead 147gr with 3.0gr of N320 and got 133pf. You would probably need at least 3.3 to be safe with a jacked bullet. Check JP video for PCC loads. They hand several barrels returned with multiple bullets in the barrel.

With a 124 PD JHP and 3.8 N320 I get 126 PF in the JP-5. 132 PF with 4.0 N320. I would not us N320 with the JP-5 and heavy (147gr) jacketed bullets. You should use a slower powder with the heavier bullet in a PCC. By the way, all my loads 147, 124 and 115 have been about 5 PF less in the JP-5 than I had in my GMR-15 for the same loads.

I have chronographed my 115gr PD JHP load in my GMR15 and JP5. The GMR is 5 PF more than the JP5. Same with the 124gr load.

My go to load for my GMR15, with short, was a 115 JHP PD with 4.6 WSF at 1.1. About 135-138 PF. Very accurate. This is also my load for the JP5. It is slower in the JP5 at 131-133 PF. No leading up the comp.

No it is not. They have a separate magwell for the JP-5

My JP5 was the competition model and it came with a vertical comp. I don’t think the comps make a difference with sub minor loads but the vertical comps make a difference with hotter loads.

That’s what I get with the 80*. The dot hardly moves. Feels a little like a AR. Some recoil in the shoulder but muzzle stays level. About the same with the 70* with hotter ammo.

The 70* locking piece work well with hotter loads. At least 135 PF loads with the 70*. Any lower PF will sometimes not fully extract the brass and jams. I can use the 80* with lower PF. These are 115 JHP’s

My JP5 loads 115 PD JHP @ 133 PF 4.6 WSF @ 1.12 OAL 124 PD JHP @ 130 PF 4.4 WSF @ 1.12 OAL 147 PD JHP @ 129 PF 3.74 WSF @ 1.12 OAL I am going the try some CFE pistol loads next. I am using the 60* break. The 115 is my favorite load. I tried double taps at 15yds for each load. Paper doesn’t lie. The 147’s were softest but the 115’s were the closest groups with .17 splits. By the way, the GMR was exactly 5 PF more than the JP5 for the same load. My GMR is a 14.5” barrel with a pin and welded comp and JP short stroke installed. Also, my friends GMR is a 16” then comp is slower than my 14.5”. I think you will find a slower powder like WSF feels softer than a fast powder. I have tried N320, W231 and Titgrope. Caution should be used with fast powders and heavy bullets. Squibs are possible.

The note with the FP only said more reliable ignition.

There is a slight but noticeable difference. To the gentleman that says his GMR shoots soft. I will disagree. I have over 80,000 rounds through my GMR and a short stroke kit from JP. The JP5 is significantly softer with little to no red dot sight movement.

I am using a Precisiondelta 115 JHP with 4.6 WSF. This is a 133 PF load in the JP5. The red dot hardly moves with the 80* lock and even better with the 70*. This same load was 138 PF Load in my GMR.

I just shot the 70* lock piece with 115 PD JHP and 147 PD JHP at 133 PF each. Softer than the 80* piece but liked the 115 better. Yes the 147 was a marginally softer. The red dot moves very little on both.

This is for the first batch of the production run. The decided to send the new improved FP before the next production run.

They did not say. Except that they sent out the new FP to all JP5 owners now instead of waiting for the next group of rifles.

I just received the 70* locking piece. They said it would shoot softer with the 115gr bullets I am using. I will see Monday when I try it. They also sent me a new improved firing pin. No charge and asked to return original firing pin in a prepaid envelope. Is JP awesome or what?

My GMR has at least 80,000 rounds through it without a single failure of any kind. However, I’m going to sell it now that I have the JP5

After trying 147, 135, 124 and 115 loads. I have settled on a 115 PD JHP at 132-135 PF. That load shoots with a little kick but muzzle stays very flat. Double taps at 15 to 20 yards are very close together. That same bullet at 135-138 PF in my GMR was very good also. All coated bullets lead up the comp, so sticking with the JHP. My JP5 is the competition version. Way better than the GMR.

Received my JP-5 last Thursday. I have tried several loads in it already. I settled on a PD 115gr jhp at 138 PF. The comp works. Muzzle does not rise and shoots flat. Much softer than my GMR15 with the same load. My Bayou bullet 147 at 140PF was even softer but don’t want to clean the comp after use.

Has anyone tried any factory 115gr FMJ’s in the JP5? I have been running a 115 Precision Delta JHP at 137 power factor in my GMR 15 with great success. The JP5 also runs very well and is softer shooting. I the tried a factory 115gr FMJ and it shot definitely softer. No chrono yet but had it to be 145+ power factor. Anyone else notice what load shoots soft in the JP5?

Don’t overthink. Your most accurate load is more important than the SD. The 5.0 load looks very good and the SD is also very good. By the way, Winchester brass I have found to be the best used brass for accuracy AND SD. The only thing you could possibly try is a shorter OAL of 1.125 to 1.135. The 5.0 load might be slightly higher but not much. That would still be a comfortable load. I am using WSF in all my 9mm loads with great success.
