Rowdy - thank you sir !
Very helpful as I'm trying to get "smarter" on CZ's

Is this the 75 Shadow that is being referenced in the above post ?

I'm looking at a CZ SP-01 SHADOW ORANGE as I have medium sized hands and the S2 might be a little large

SSP- SP01 Shadow
ESP- 75 Shadow, set up with a SAO trigger and magwell. You'll have to find this model used.
CDP-97b or a DW 1911 gun
CCP-manual safety P01 or P10C
CO- SP01 Shadow with CZC optics cut
Those would be my choices for a CZ gun in different idpa divisions.
thank you !

You can't make any CZ pistol SAO and use it in SSP division in IDPA. But you could use it in ESP division if it has been converted to SAO, or even if it is SA/DA)
A good all-around pistol for IDPA is the CZ 75SP01 Shadow 1. It has no firing pin safety, so it is easy to get a good trigger pull on these pistols. Start the COF with the hammer down and shoot it in SSP (Stock Service Pistol) division. Start the COF with the hammer cocked and the thumb safety engages and shoot it in ESP (Enhanced Service Pistol) division.
Try to attend an IDPA match near you and observe and ask questions. Almost any competitor is willing to help newcomers. Good luck!
Good informative post and reply from 45 Raven
I too have been thinking about adding a CZ to the stable and I'm looking at a CZ Shadow 2

So, I should skip the 550 completely?
Yes, I would go straight to the 750.
I had a 650 years ago, got out of the game for a while, sold my press and gear. I then got back into it and bought a 550 and wish I would have went with a 650/750.
Don't get me wrong, the 550 is a great press especially if you are going to be loading several different calibers including rifle but the 650/750 is a nice step up with the auto index and shell feeder.

It's normal for the first load of new brass.. at least in my experience on my 550

Go to the bottom of the page for what ever press you are ordering.
The accessories are listed . So you can order them.
AHI is right
It's not as "easy" as it could be as one has to add the press and then go to each additional component, package individually. At least, they do have some of the options bundled... i.e.. one can add (strong mount, roller handle, bullet tray) as a kit but it's not at the bottom of the page

My bench is 4' long. Fit the bench to your area. If you have the room, go bigger! You'll be surprised at how fast you fill up the open space.
True !!

I really have been think about getting the Grand for shotshell, what is your feedback? Thanks
I'll send you a PM and provide more detail but in brief, the Grand is a might fine shotshell press and I would not hesitate to recommend it.
I've owned about every shotshell press at one time or another and still own the Grand and a Spolar.
The Spolar is on bench #2

I agree. My current bench is 36" deep and the back 12" or so just collects stuff.
I'm building a new bench for a new shop and it's only going to be 24" deep.
That will also allow me to easily double up with any 4'x8' sheets if desired.
Agreed, in general, I would not go more than 24 deep
The exception would be building shelf's or cabinets behind the presses - even then the reach could be an issue.

Thank's for sharing Dillon is top shelf !

Good Find !
Congratulations !

Wise choice on the 750 !
I have a 550 and "wish" i would have went with the 650 at the time but funds were tight.... nothing wrong with the 550 its a great press for what it is.. I just miss the auto-index and case feed

Three tool heads, yes. The powder hoppers change pretty easily, but you would need to adjust/change the powder die everytime you changed calibers. It would be best to have dedicated tool heads and powder hoppers for every caliber you plan on reloading. Having a tool head and powder hopper for each, it only takes 1-2 minutes to change between small primer rounds, and probably no more than 5 minutes to change between large primer rounds.

Happy to hear they are getting ready to ship.
Perhaps I can place an order after the 1'st of the year.
Sadly I had to pass on a nice 1050 a few weeks back due to an unexpected water/well issue.
Looking forward to hearing what folks have to say on the 1100

New Dillon catalog (Blue Press) just arrived and Dillon has raised their price on the Super 1050 to $2000 ($1999.99 so you might as well say $2k)...Will have to look at last months catalog but I am thinking that is a $120.00 price I crease in one month...Will be interesting to see what the price for the 1100 will be since up to this point they have only provided an estimated price at release...
The price on the RL550C went up from $440.00 to $510 also.....OUCH.....Mark
I talked to the good folks at Dillon a few weeks back and they told me the 1100 would be about $2K... so perhaps the price increase on the 1050 is "setting the stage"

I think we should all pitch in. "Somebody else should do it" is just a bunch of crap.
I just donated $25. Anybody else?
I did the same (donated $25) - this is a good site and I've learned much.

Thanks for the update - just in time for XMas !

Even though CO is or could be in the Factory Pistol I would like to see it have it's own forum or sub forum under Factory Pistol as that would consolidate CO posts vs spreading CO posts across open/factory, etc.
Best Powder for 44 Magnum Loads
in 44/45 Caliber
Posted
I use 231 or HP38 for light loads
296 for full power, magnum
Note 231 and HP38 are essentially equivalent.
