  1. Can not get mine to shoot much, but she sure loves to fish....
  2. You can try i titainum comp... That lightens things up a lot and you still have all the ports. If not, It is pretty easy to cut down a standard comp to 2 or three ports....
  3. Anybody have any idea on when the regular slots open up?
  4. Marvel, or even better, the new STI (Built by Marvel) conversion on your frame or dedicated frame. The best way you can go for the feel of your open gun.
  5. I have had very good luck with universal clays for steel loads... I took about 15 percent off the minimum load and used a 15 lbs mainspring and a 8 pound recoil spring....
  6. Who makes the slide stop that you added....
  7. The racker does not cut into the firing pin casing, no worries on that aspect. The extra weight does not slow the slide down at all. You are correct, you do not have to have anything on top, but with the aluminum frame, it is on the brink of being too light anyway.
  8. It is completely dedicated. When I get the entire gun coated I will blend the rear of the marvel slide to the rear of the frame to get a perfect fit. I just did not want to do it until I have everything perfect as then I have bare Al on the slide.
  9. I think you feel a huge differenct with the comp on. The added weight helps balance a bit more but I feel the comp is very affective.
  10. Saw a thread on 22 cal steel challenge guns and I just finished mine and wanted to put it up. I guess it is not completely finished, it still needs to be coated and it may be the recipient of some cuts to make it look better.... I use this for practice when trying new things, different types of movement, etc, as it is much cheaper to shoot than a full blown race gun. It then doubles as my 22 steel gun! You can spend all day shooting it and only spend 20 bucks on ammo. With component prices out there, I figured the gun would pay for itself in a few months!!! I custom built a slide racker for it to match up with my open guns, mounted it to a 2011 Aluminum frame (Total gun weight is 34.5 oz with steel comp, 32 oz with Al), Milled some custom swenson safeties, Made some major modifications to improve extraction and ejection, and even made a custom ramp for the barrel that feeds the 22 cartriges without damage to the rounds and prevents any feed malfunctions. Threaded the barrel and put a threaded sleeve in the comp so I can screw on a piece that will make it really fun to shoot. Just need to finish the federal OK for that one. Hope you like it, and hopefully it gives a few of you ideas for your own.
  11. Might want to just pay someone 15 bucks to put it in an ultra sonic cleaner.... This loosens it up and it comes out with a little less work.
  12. As much as possible!!! Getting my 22 finished up for the 22 match also. Hope your winter is treating you well!
  13. This is a great match! I have been out to three of them and you can shoot up to three different guns. Lots of steel, reloads, and accuracy make the match very difficult! They run a great match, the area is nice, and if you stay in Hershey, it smells like chocolate the entire time you are there! It is worth the time to go if you have the chance.
  14. Meyer has a great tray in the auto department. It is about 6 by 10 inches and is with a magnet.... It was only 6 bucks!
  15. Sorry but the gunsmith did not select the design I did. The only thing similiar to a Bedell is the front slide cuts. These cuts also incorporate another angle that the Bedell guns do not have. They are also angled 15-19 degrees forward to match what ever angle the rear cocking serrations are cut at.
  16. The different breach face sizes relate to the depth of the breach face cut for proper head space.
  17. It was put together using a Nowin plain barrel for the tighter bore and also for the weight decrease over a bull barrel. A conversion cone was then used to attach a Bedell Ti Comp for decrease weight.
  18. It weights 36.8 oz... The slide is 7.8 oz. It is a dream to swing from plate to plate.
  19. I found when taking pictures of the bright polished chrome guns you can not use a flash and it seems to be best when you simply have a bright light in the background.... I had to experiment for a while on a friends bright chrome gun...
  20. I saw hsmiths bright chrome job from APW, I sent my Steel Gun in to get chromed last month and it came back looking like this! I have to agree with hsmith, APW does do a nice job....
  21. Smith and Alexander makes a grip safety with the raised hump and the proper radius for the springfield.... It is in Brownells.
