  1. My Romeo 3 XL has started to experience the issue with windage drift.
  2. If MBX still has Caspian mags in stock, buy it. If not, do not buy it. I have two Caspians and the only way they worked well was with MBX mags. The K9 mec-gar/tanfoglio tubes for 9mm (basically they are 38 super tubes with a shim) and spring sets never worked reliably for me, even after lots of tinkering. Basically they'd only work if you loaded real short (otherwise they'd jam up in the mag), but that means your powder choices get limited to make 9 major and then you also run the risk of failure to feed because your rounds are too short and can stall on the feed ramp. If you're just shooting steel challenge and load short they might work, but honestly I just bought MBX mags and never looked back. I didn't have good luck with 38 super mec-gar/TF mags either, basically had to use MBX mags to get it to work when my one gun had a 38 super top end. Your magwell options are basically nil, EGW used to make a magwell but they were slip fit, didn't fit really well, and the one I bought cracked after a year. They also stopped making them. There are no other options, so if it has a magwell on it, take care of it, otherwise you'll be without a magwell. Dawson used to make a magwell for it that but they stopped making them decades ago, so I have two but that's probably the last two ever made.\ If you end up replacing the optic & optic mount be aware that Casipan dust covers/frames are less wide (.855?) than 2011's so you may need a shim between the frame and whatever mount you buy to get it to be centered over the bore.
  3. Gans does great work, but he's also not cranking out guns like these other manufacturers do. He only builds as many as he has time for. He's a bit of a special case.
  4. If you are shooting a czechmate and want to start using commercially loaded 9major ammo, you will absolutely need to ream your barrel to increase the depth. Most commercial 9 major ammo is loaded long so that they feed reliably, as well as giving enough case capacity to use a slower burning powder that generates more gas to drive the comp.
  5. I stay in Fort Lauderdale, and shoot at Markham park on Thursday nights, and then do deep 50 on the weekends
  6. I have three original caspian MBX mags and I think i've used the same set of followers for 20k+ rounds with no issue.
  7. I have not broken a pin yet but yes it does look to be a little involved.
  8. Yes, I would, if you already are invested in other automated brass prep steps like roll-sizing. By roll-sizing and de-priming the brass as separate steps in dedicated machines, it makes the loading process on my 650 a lot easier, which for me is a quality of life improvement. It makes the press feel a lot closer to what it feels like when loading brand new starline brass, which is worth a lot to me since you can take 5cpr range pickup brass and make it feel like 20cpr when you go to the loading stage. I still use starline brass in major matches since I don't want to spend the time sorting by headstamp to ensure consistent ejection in my open gun, but for club matches and practice, I am very happy with the results. I will however say that the automatic rollsizer was a better value, since it eliminated bad rounds that wouldn't case gauge at the end of a loading session. The de-priming machine didn't improve the quality of the rounds in any way that matters in pistol (perhaps for precision rifle?), but it does cut down on the mess and maybe cuts the amount of exposure to harmful chemicals since the spent primers get piped into a tube and into a sealed container. That's worth it for me. I've put at least 5k rounds through it in a big batch and didn't have any issues with it. When you give it already cleaned brass you can run it at speed 3 and it goes quick, dirty brass I run it at speed 2 or speed 1 because the grime on the cases can make them a little sticky so it needs a bit more dwell time so everything functions correctly.
  9. Basepads are a "no" - the 9mm MBX tube didn't take the SVI basepad, and the 40s&w MBX tube wouldn't take the Dawson basepad from my STI 40s&w mag. Springs and followers are a "maybe?" but I don't think I'd trust them. Especially in the 40s&w mbx tube the STI follower has an awful lot of side to side play. The 9mm tube is a little better with the SVI follower and spring but I don't think it's worth risking. The gold tube is an MBX 170mm 9mm tube for SV/STI https://photos.app.goo.gl/ogQ5xL9cEinE2ivBA
  10. Earlier this year I purchased the Davinci Machining Automatic Decapping Machine to help process brass. With the cost of components being what they are, it was important to make loading ammunition as easy as possible when it actually gets into my Dillon 650. I have been very happy with the results from owning a rollsizer, so I looked at their decapping machine, but the price was a little out of my range, and DaVinci has been a sponsor for USPSA so I wanted to give their machine a try. Plus, I was staying in Florida for a couple months and was closer to them, so faster/cheaper shipping. The fit and finish of the machine is very nice. It uses the same diameter tubing as the rollsizer.com so I was able to re-use the adapter from the rollsizer machine for the Dillon case feeder. My one point of criticism is the machine _should_ come with one, or at least provide an option for you to. In the meantime, you can order it from rollsizer. The machine has fittings on the bottom for tubing, for both the spent primers as well as finished brass. The diameters are as follows: 3/4-Inch ID https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07ZC1YG9X 5/16-Inch ID https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07G9YY7GT The 3/4 inch one is a little big for the processed 9mm brass, but I erred on the side of larger since I also plan to deprime 40S&W. The 5/16ths for the spent small pistol primers is a little tight, it could probably be larger. If you are using large pistol primers you will need a larger inner diameter. It took a couple orders and returns to get diameters that worked, so hopefully this at least gives you a starting point and will save some hassle. The other thing to be aware of, is the collet(?) that the decapping pin cycles through is threaded, and you need to ensure that it is properly tightened. If not, it will slowly loosen and could fall out and cause the machine to jam up. Finger tight works. Here's a video of the machine in action, before I had the tubes arrive.
  11. I have one. It works quite well. The key is getting the right size tubing for the primer chute and the finished brass. I'll post a full review
  12. Is the dust cover drilled and tapped with the 5 screw pattern or three screw pattern? The main issue is making sure the optics mount is centered over the bore, sometimes you need a shim between the optic mount and the dust cover to have it line up correctly, if the dust cover isn't wide enough. Generally, I don't think the side of the dust cover takes a lot of stress where the optic is mounted, so you should be fine.
  13. And every 1K for 9mm major guns. I replace the recoil spring at 1K rounds as directed. Before every match I take the slide off the frame and clean out all the carbon and gunk, and re-oil. I also put a bit of Hoppe's in the compensator baffles and swab it to get any carbon out. Since i've started doing that, I've been able to skip using the scraper.
  14. I'll be at the LP falling steel match, squad 3. See you there
  15. Just be aware that USPSA open division has a minimum bullet weight of 112gr
  16. Here's what mine looks like after a couple years of use. The surface is polished where the brass touches, but I don't feel any divots.
  17. We need more people that don't look like me in the sport, so I welcome her participation and wish her the best of luck
  18. I bought 10K primers off Bruno's Shooter Supply. I am not happy with the price I paid but it's either pay up or quit the sport.
  19. uspsa.insights on Instagram wrote a crawler to scrape practiscore data off practiscore.com - I don't believe that practiscore offers a bulk export
  20. Being able to use the same magazines and holster is very convenient. Something to consider.
  21. It looks like some of the feedback from members at USPSA open nationals, in regards to Steel Challenge, have been acted upon. There's now a Steel Challenge Committee. That's good, since Steel Challenge has rebounded from the pandemic more than USPSA has, per the activity stats.
  22. I had this issue too with the Safariland 015. Not fun.
  23. for my Infinity in 9major I've been running 3n38 at ~8.7gr, federal small pistol primers and Zero 125gr JHPs and have been very happy with the results. Shoots very flat, with minimal dot lift. 8lb recoil spring. I haven't shot an Infinity in 38SC to really compare the performance, but when the brass is 1/10th of the cost of 38sc, I think it's worth it.
  24. I had instances where small pistol primers were popping out of the brass and jamming up the gun. I switched to small rifle primers for a couple years, until I had a batch of winchester small rifle primers that a couple wouldn't go off in my gun, so I switched to federal small pistol. I believe that it it was brass that had very loose primer pockets that was the original issue, but I changed who I purchased brass from as well as primer type to the point where there's too many variables to pin anything down and I was just left with superstition.
