  1. Yeah, that's pretty common. I posted about several of my issues with Dillon on this forum, but I can't seem to find any of my previous posts or topics. I assume if I explain, the post will disappear.
  2. I'd never have purchased a Dillon product, I'd have bought larger quantities of components instead of smaller amounts of what was cheapest at the time, and I'd have stocked up on primers and powder.
  3. I do not know what you mean. I will try hand priming some of these.
  4. I tried less swage. Same story, 1/8 turn less doesn't swage. To show the ring of material, I drew the head of the case against a piece of finished plywood. Here is a picture of the wood shavings caught by the ring of material pushed out of the primer pocket. The heads of these cases no longer sit flush against a table or bolt face. The good news is that I wasn't sure if I was reaming too much, but the gauge tells me my primer pockets are good on the cases I've used a reamer on. Sorry I didn't post pics sooner. I haven't had a day off in November. I took this stuff to work for my break.
  5. Ok, I now have the gauge, so I would be able to swage just enough. Here is my brass after swaging. 1/8 turn less, and the brass would not pass the swage gauge. At this setting, brass is pushed out of the primer pocket far enough that the length of each piece of brass is increased by two thousandths. There's a ring of brass coming out. This must be what my primers get stuck on. I have swaged 2,500 more pieces of brass at this setting. I guess it is all destined for the swager. I'll try less swage. But as I said, it ruins the brass before it swages it.
  6. Brownell's doesn't offer same minute shipping. When I get the gauge, I'll take pics of the results.
  7. Very constructive. However, it is true that all my other presses function.
  8. Every dillon product I've purchased or touched has been faulty, except for the scales, which I cannot verify. It is a safe assumption they weigh incorrectly. If we pretend the scales are good, they're 2 for 100 in attempts to make useable product. I have to set the super swage back up for 223, and set it using the primer pocket gauges, if possible. I'll take pics after that. It is the dillon super swage, and I do complete the stroke. It was set by Dillon for my brass, as was the 650. I undid their setting after destroying some more primers. Both the super swage and 650 are bolted to a workbench made of 4x4s and 1-3/4" maple ply. When the primers go in, they are pinched and squashed.
  9. That is not the case, but it is what I expected to hear. Dillon's reputation is very undeserved, but zealously defended. I have ordered primer pocket gauges. I wish I knew these existed. They will tell me if the 650 or the Super Swage is at fault. Once I know that, I'll know which of those to return.
  10. I have a 650 and I am trying to load 223 (to 5.56 pressure). I cannot get primers into my brass. I tried for a few months to get it running, and made several calls to Dillon for help. They sent me a primer station alignment tool, which confirmed the unit was aligned correctly. I brought in my Super Swage, as it seems to destroy brass before it begins to swage the primer pocket. A tech set it up for my brass and ran a few through it for me. It didn't seem like it did anything to the brass, but he assured me whatever it did was good enough. I took it home, and the press couldn't load a primer into any of that brass, crushing them. I brought to Dillon my super swager, my press, my brass, and my primers for them to diagnose. When they were done, they called me to pick it up. They told me they "didn't want to tell me it doesn't work, but" and then the guy shrugged. I brought it home and it didn't work. Anybody have any ideas? It's been a few years and I still can't use this expensive POS and the manufacturer is no help. I've been around the internet and everybody gushes about Dillon despite nothing of theirs working (their 308 sizing die can't size brass to pass a guage nor fit into a chamber, and the presses in their display don't work). I stopped hand-swaging 223 brass about a year ago, which was the last time I gave up hope. I've decided I'm ready to get ticked off again and try to get it working. I'm using Wolf Gold brass, and I've tried CCI primers and Tula primers. On my single stage Lee, there are no issues with these components. I've narrowed it down to the press. I've destroyed hundreds of pieces of brass and primers with the 650, but luckily I haven't had a primer go off.
