IRC: Trade spot in squad 6 for 9
MikeyScuba replied to MikeyScuba's topic in Revolver Match Announcements and Discussions
? ? Thank you!!! -
We didn’t know anyone else at the IRC until we shot the Canadian 2018 ICORE Regionals yesterday. We were squadded with John G all the way from West Australia. Really good shooter and even nicer guy. Turns out during lunch we find out he’s also shooting the IRC. I just need an extra open spot so my wife and I can switch to squad 9. I’ll buy you a drink at the meet and greet ?. ICORE was generous with the cash prizes and we finally won something, in fact there were prizes for everyone. John G won Limited Gus V.E. won overall and Open

Coating being scraped off bullets
MikeyScuba replied to PharmDShooter's topic in non-Dillon Reloading Equipment
I did a search that also mentioned that using .358 Bullets doesn’t help as the die is made for .355-.356. I’m using 160gr .358 Bayou’s in 9mm brass for S&W 929’s revos. -

Love it. And like a broken record, it stays put. -
2018 IRC STAGES

We've been dry firing lean or lay in our basement last night. -
Short Colt. The only savings grace is I bought it at 15% off on a Canada Day sale.

I'd get another 929. I think a lot of us are already shooting .358 sized lead but with cheap 9mm brass. Yes I have to sort it but I get 55%-65% Blazer, FC and WIN headstamps from range brass. The rest goes for my wife's Shadow 9mm loads and I get to intercept Sumbro/Maxtech garbage brass. The WIN needs to be loaded separate, 1/8" extra turn on the seating die. A mix of the 3 is snug on the DAA moonclips, too snug for the BMT but the TK loader works great. A bit slower but I load them while watching TV. For the 627 Starline SC is where it's at and I'm still waiting for my order to arrive (2 months). My wife wanted to be able to use her 686 that wasn't getting out of the safe. Starline seems makes brass whenever they get enough to justify a run (I assume).

Thoughts on increasing membership/clubs
MikeyScuba replied to Ty Hamby's topic in ICORE Rules and Membership Information
We shoot both IPSC & ICORE. Up here we are required to do the Black Badge course (aka safety and introduction to sport shooting) to get holster certified before we can do IPSC/IDPA/ICORE. One thing it does it put 12-14 new shooters together for around 3 full days, hard not to make friends & connections Our BB instructor is also a big ICORE shooter/match director so he got us into ICORE. Our club I believe has been hosting matches for quite a while. ICORE in Canada, until very recently, should be callled ICORE Ontario but there is a match in BC soon. The Canada ICORE regionals is this weekend and sold out so fast they added extra squads. -
Very nice! I wimped out and got TK do to our 929's.

I use the DAA Deluxe pouches https://www.doublealpha.biz/daa-deluxe-magnetic-pouch I don’t have much of a problem getting them out. Other shooters think they are tough but they’ve tried pulling them out wrong. You really have to have the belt on and pull straight up. I first tried the regular pouches first but had mags fall out when I first started shooting. plus if someone loses a spring in the grass guess who’s finding it...

I just used my spare parts kit but yes it wasn’t perfectly calibrated. No biggie as I was processing brass only. I used the alignment tool and FULLY clean the press before reloading once I got the spare indexer and tool. Yikes. Use the primer rod to push a piece of paper soaked in brake clean down the primer tube. Take out the very bottom pivot pin on the handle and spray the whole bottom assembly in brake clean. Regrease and install the primer seater was rusty as I deprime only just wet tumbled brass. So it was cleaned and greased. You have to take it apart anyway to align. just a few things I did. props to Dillon for sending 2 indexers and springs!! A spare kit is a must as sometimes things break when I’m making ammo to ship to a big match and time isn’t on my side.

Paper towel, q tips and brake clean works wonders.

Our ammo is already at the match, per MWP’s instructions there are 2 1000 round boxes at the match. I’m sure Mark is wondering why so much ammo! Lol Best to check the airlines ammo limit, I’ve 11lbs on Air Canada that can’t be combined to 22lbs for 2 people. Plus $55 cdn fee for the firearms -each way. I might just have to donate any leftovers as it might cost more than it’s worth to ship back UPS to our PO box in Buffalo. For Canadians the only way to ship ammo is to cross the border with the ammo and head to a UPS depot with a customer care center. Pretty easy but I can’t use my business UPS account #. Paying retail rates hurts. And for Air Canada ammo must be separate from firearms.

Don’t forget there are lead free primers. I use them in our semi’s. The revolvers though still Federals, I might try The Fiocchi non-tox primers again in the revo’s once I have a proper machine to set the primer depth. I’m not sure if The Fiocchis are too hard or I was having seating issues (light strikes) Oddly the only 2 primers I’ve set off in my 650 are the Fiocchi non-toxic ones.

I use the 1050 cover, but it's not used much as it seems like I'm always at the 650 lately.

1lb containers only? Seems pointless to me.

From what your reloading bench looks like no wonder! -
Failing to pass case gauge but unsure why
MikeyScuba replied to m-cz-shadow-2's topic in 10mm/40 Caliber
Probably the Bullets are in slightly crooked. That happens to mine, push the round in the gauge and the coating gets scraped off the bullet. Shot 95% of those rejects ok yesterday. -
I’ve got one of those from my brass scrounging, wouldn’t fit in the press and kept it around as a curiousity. Now I now what it is.

I’m going to need half a day to install the Forcht motor, it doesn’t look straight forward to say the least.
