  1. Mag pouches behind hip bone except revo and open.
  2. I’m not sure how given I was up to 10.5gr in a 38sc case with ipsc major. Imo VV never gave it a chance selling in only 1lb containers. Never made sense, they could have sold it in the 8lb rifle tubs.
  3. I treat the front red fiber like a dot and it works. Until you are under a canopy on a dark cloudy day shooting static steel. note to self: shoot dots on dark days
  4. An IPSC official up here told an MD that there shouldn't be stage design that gives an advantage to those who are physically fit. This was in response to a horseshoe stage where 2 or 3 of us jumped across and there was video that made it to FB. To be honest I don't think it saved us any time but was fun to try. The official in question was a rotund woman who IMO should just shoot bullseye.
  5. To each their own. While I don't like shooting irons I am much better with them now than before I started shooting with a dot. I was as surprised as anyone.
  6. This would be solved easily if you have a dot revo and dryfire. You would see the dot being driven down if you are focusing properly. I guess you could see it with irons but its much harder
  7. Given SASS only allows irons and the shooters that participates in cosplay for adults is getting on in years, it makes sense they have to have 2'x3' plates at 7yrs.
  8. To be honest I’ve never found watching GM’s to be helpful. Other than they seem not to shoot as fast as one would assume. In my case I had to learn to drop the need for the hair on fire feeling and ignore the conscious feeling of speed. Which I guess is the same thing.
  9. 4.3gr of N310 behind a 180 coated bullet was awesome. I didn’t shoot it for very long as I switched to revo soon after. Years later when I sold my unused boxes of the 180’s I gave the guy a few loaded rounds I hadn’t shot and he called me asking what I was using as it was super soft.
  10. Eh. The first class I ever attended was a Ben class. Never again. Too many people, Ben tends to focus on those who he thinks are worthy and we just spent most of the time blasting away on the sample stage.
  11. We did a 5 day TPC course in Utah. Fun but you can only pick up so much. Our best training $ ever spent was a 2 and 3 day private lesson with Steve Anderson a yr apart.
  12. I spread them out on a towel to dry. Running your fingers through you'll hear the cracked and super comp. Lately I've been catching 380's and 9 police (super sneaky) but that's visual only.
  13. 9 police is just a tad shorter hence the 9x18. 380 is bad but this is sneakier there are a lot of old old shooters at the indoor club I shoot at. I regularly get WWII ‘43 surplus 9mm and DOMINION 9mm (it sounds different that’s how I find it)
  14. Like who even knew it existed? And went by different names? 9 Police 9 Ultra i am getting better at seeing it through but still.
  15. https://www.scmp.com/news/world/europe/article/3253928/europe-battles-gunpowder-shortage-supply-shells-ukraines-defence-against-russia Turns out Europe outsourced guncotton production to China and suddenly the Chinese cut them off.
  16. ezra650 nailed it. The US has increased supply of 155mm artillery shells as it turns out the military itself owns the production facility. That powder has to come from somewhere. And one major supplier was in the Donbass region, now recently under Russian control. As a side note, the equipment at this facility looks older than the workers, and that is saying something! in Finland, home of VV, they just further escalated just yesterday. I don’t see prices going anywhere but up as the raw materials are in ever increasing demand
  17. In my case with low loads, heavy bullet (2.9, 165gr) of N320 in a revolver it is a lot dirtier than an equivalent load of W231
  18. It's the cheapest to start out with and feed as well. And for a few hundred the easy ability to go dot when the eye's start to go. A lot of open shooters here are older guys who had no choice prior to Production Optics or Carry Optics as you call it. So open has shrank somewhat but it's still the most competitive so open isn't going anywhere. Standard (limited) and classic are going the way of revo.
  19. While I didn't shoot my open 2011 at the PSA last year at the Blue Ridge/Mountain shoots I was able to get most of our supercomp back. The RO's don't mind and a few actively helped find brass. 38 short colt might be a bit harder as it looks like 9mm but its going to be directly underneath not 5' to 15' to the right. Supercomp flies! I've never found resetting anywhere to be an issue with small squads and shooting 2 guns per squad As for the PSA I'm betting you can still get Thursday, Friday and for SURE Sunday squads. I'm wondering if I can bug Jeff to shoot 2 guns on 1 squad Sunday afternoon..... https://psashootout.com/index.shtml
  20. A lot of the knock down steel are hinged like a plate rack. Shooting 38 supercomp knocks them down (and sometimes off completely…lol). And I’m downloading to ~155pf.
  21. Open unlimited is soooo much fun! Plus shooting 2 guns per squad meant I crossed the border with 6 guns. Dave is doing the Blue Ridge the week prior to the IRC with a 2day steel match IRC “warmup” on Tuesday/Wed. The Blue Mountain is a week prior too but that’s too much driving or finding something to do for 5 days in between. Haywizzle - sporty!!! I don’t shoot PCC much but I find you need to push/be aware of speed more than Revo for instance. I was just happy mine ran ok, I changed mag springs prior to the match. The ones MBX supplied originally didn’t work/ unreliable.
