  1. The Apexed M&P M2.0 is just like the GOOD SA in my DA SA pistols. My stock P320 X5 was really blah in dry fire, surprisingly better in live fire. My fully Gray Gunned and polished P320X5 is decent, but nothing amazing, in dry fire. Once again, however, in live fire the X5 is really really good even though it is mushier than my fully Apexed M2.0 5". I like a smooth light crisp action in the DA of my DA SA pistols, as well as a short crisp SA. So I am still on a quest to determine why I shoot the P320 X5 more accurately out of the box than anything but my CZ SP-01!
  2. Is an extended magazine release legal in IDPA SSP? Same question about Dremeling down the grip frame behind the stock magazine release, is that legal in IDPA SSP? Thanks in advance!
  3. This kit genuinely makes my M2.0 5" pistol have a trigger action like the good SA of my DA SA pistols. It can also make the trigger pull force extremely low, so you can tune it from 2lbs on up to your comfort and proficiency level.
  4. I prefer the M2.0 because: 1) It has the best grip texture made right now, in my opinion. YMMV. 2) The trigger action is MUCH better than the 1.0 That is key to me because I shoot SSP and cannot Apex my pistol in SSP. More explanation so you have an idea of my credibility. I bought a M2.0 Compact for EDC. The trigger action out of the box was bad, really gritty. I was not happy. Troubleshooting the situation I determined that a majority of that grit was in the actuation of the firing pin block plunger. So I stripped it down and started repairs. I gently irked the ID of the firing pin block bore with very fine Emory paper. I did it by hand. Left it in that deburred condition. Then I mirror polished the FPB plunger and the surfaces of the trigger bar that contacted other parts. I also dusted DC he sides of the trigger shoe itself. By dusted I mean I just barely smoothed it. Jon re-assembly it is as smooth as Fe and the trigger pull force was down to 4 lbs.. That was too light fo my EDC so I installed the Increased power Apex Trigger Return Spring and now it is great. Fo competition I put the OEM TRS in and fo to town. I also have a M2.0 FDE 5" in .40 caliber. It came completely Apexed with the Flatty kit already installed. Smoothness of the action is the same as my stock polished M2.0C. Total trigger travel and reset is much less than my stock M2.0C and actually mimics the SA of my DA SA hammer fired pistols. That is wonderful, but I am used to my DA SA pistols so the normal, stock travel of the M2.0C is just fine for me. I actually have to re-orient myself when I shoot my M2.0 5" because the trigger stroke and reset are so short. I am somewhat unique because cause I have gone full circle - hammer fired DA SA only, then added striker fired to the hammer fired quiver, found that stock striker fired actions messed up my DA SA shooting so I sold all my striker fired pistols. 2 years later I saw the incredible trigger action possible with the M2.0 Full Flatty kit from Apex so I gave striker fired a chance again. I have discovered the key for me is making a striker fired action act as close to my hammer fired pistol SA action as possible. So now I am working the Apexed M2.0 5" and a fully Gray Gunned action in my P320 X5 and my Vastly improved stock M2.0C into my practice rotation to see if I can fire them equally as well as my CZ SP-01. No conclusions, as yet, but it sure is enjoyable doing the "work" shooting them to find out ?
  5. Thank you both for the insight on the auto hyperlink, I understand. I agree it did not work well because it took me to some very odd websites. I did not mean to hijack this thread - it is a technically helpful one!
  6. Some ideas that may help: 1) Did you note if the top of the hole was like that before putting 1,000+ rounds through it? Asking in case the slide had a boo boo created (that hole with a non-square corner) during the slide's manufacturing or upgrade work. 2) Is the crest of the disconnector worn in a corresponding manner? 3) I would contact Sig for a technical analysis and, hopefully, correction. 4) In the interim, put some heavy grease (for example, Lucas vs EWG) on the tip of the diconnector and on the slide where the witness marks indicate the crest of the disco is tracking. That may slow down additional wear.

This is very helpful technical information. Much appreciated.

I have what I believe you will find an illuminating reply. But it is long and I'm at work so I cannot type it now. It is based upon my experience owning and shooting (competitively and in practice) hammer and striker fired Sigs, CZs, M&Ps and Glocks. I will post it tonight. It may help to know that I am a certified Armorer for all of those manufacturers and I have designed and installed a few optimizing parts for Sigs. Whenever possible, I start stock with all of my pistols, measure them, then install upgrade parts made by or for me, Gray Guns, Apex and Lone Wolf, then measure them again to quantify the changes. I also insist on 100% reliability, therefore, any change that compromises any functionality is immediately removed/eliminated - I want a pistol in my hand, not a bludgeoining device ?.
  9. To let Sig know they goofed up, I called them and asked to order the shorter front sight. I thought that that they probably did not have one, however, I wanted to let the CSR I spoke with know that there really is a market for one because so many of us do not like how we must take the rear sight all the way to the top of its adjustment to have POA=POI. Alas, I was correct and he said there is no such sight. Thank you guys for sharing the Dawson front sight height that is needed. On an unrelated note: why, on this entire forum only, does the forum turn words I type into hyperlinks? It did it twice above. I'm a member of several forums and use the same iPad to view and make posts on all of them and only the BE forum does that. Just curious.
  10. Allen, happy to hear that you are happy with your pistol. You mention a "huge difference". Describe what you feel as the differences. For me it was the elimination of the "crunch" as the firing pin/striker safety block plunger was pushed up.
  11. I've been thinking about doing that and you guys have confirmed it. Great videos in this thread, thank you for posting them. I have some work to do to catch up to your skill level... In reality, I have fun and compete with myself - I want to eliminate errors and shoot better than I did last time.
  12. I shoot 4", 4.4", 4.6-4.7" and 5". I shoot the 4.6-4.7" and 5" the most accurately. That being said, one of the best shooters in my club recently won the match with his 4" EDC STI. The next match he was the first place pistol (behind two PCC shooters) and shot his son's stock P226 DA/SA with a 4".4 barrel. I just picked up a Sig P320 X5 and let him shoot it so it is really tantalizing to him. He's no pro, but he is very smart in how he practices. I believe the bottom line is this - practice and get really good, then you can shoot pretty much any barrel length accurately.
  13. I have an all stainless P226 and a P320 X5. I am an Armorer for both, have improved both and both shoot well. Even though I am a hammer fired guy, the X5 continues to surprise me with how well I shoot it. I need my striker fired pistol action to mimic my hammer fired single action as closely as possible so that I can switch back and forth without messing up my muscle memory and shooting accuracy. . For that reason, I have installed both the Gary Guns kit in my X5 and the full Apex kit in my M&P M2.0 FDE 5". The Apexed M&P feels better in dry fire, but the X5 amazes me with how well it performs with me in live fire. Honestly, dry firing the X5 is unappealing because it feels so bland. Shooting the X5 in live fire is Wow! If you live close by, I'd be happy to let you try it at the outdoor range I belong to.
  14. Allen, thank you for noting that you have a 1.0. The Apex parts do make a noticeable difference. Where I live, people do not recoup the value of what it cost to put into the pistol when they sell it. One alternative is to have a M&P Armorer or pistolsmith polish the proper internal parts and then simply install the trigger shoe alone. I am an armorer foe M&Ps, including the Shield, and polished mine. Smoothing the bore of the hole which the striker/firing pin safety plunger slides in and the safety plunger itself made the greatest difference in my Shield. I have an Apex trigger shoe to install, but my action is now so good that my urgency to install it has dropped dramatically. Try smoothing the action, without touching the sear or firing pin, and see how you like the Shield then. Take it in steps. If you still want a little more, then install the trigger shoe alone. You will spend less following this method. Talon grip tape is also a great addition and it is not expensive. Shoot safe and shoot often, D
  15. Welcome m-cz-s2! In addition to my M&Ps, I shoot an SP-01 in IDPA and just picked up a new Phantom to see how it performs. Shoot safe and shoot often! D
  16. Allen, I have some ideas for you to consider, based upon experience as both a Shield 1.0 and M2.0 owner and a certified M&P Armorer. To answer as accurately as possible, first I need to know if yours is a 1.0 or a M2.0. Let me know and then I will submit my thoughts.
  17. Thank you, SC. Our (PSC's) USPSA Match is the second Saturday of each month. Sign up on PSCShootingClub.com. Let me know if you are going to shoot so I can meet you.
  18. DC here. I joined because a friend referred me to a classified ad here and I'm staying because of all the great info! I am an Armorer for Sig, CZ, M&P and Glock. My current quiver contains Sigs, CZs and M&Ps; I start with them stock, then upgrade them to see how good I can get them to be. I am just starting to reload. I shoot IDPA at my local club (so far) which is the PSC Shooting club. Our matches are the fourth Saturday of the month, come and join us! Non-members are most welcome! Most weekends you will find me there on Range 2 in Bay A if it is available when I get there. I've built my own cover walls and am practicing as close to match scenarios as I can. I have .22 conversions for one Sig and one CZ and I shoot them most. Why? Because I can feel when I am doing the right things and when I'm doing the wrong things due to the lower recoil. My goal is to be as good as I can be so I am constantly working to improve. If you are in the area south of Houston look me up, especially if you are a PSC member. In addition, I will happily bring in guests to shoot for free any time (as long as you shoot safely). Shoot often and shoot safe. Keep the muzzle downrange. An average day shooting is better than some days at work (but not all when you love what you do). DC
