Can anyone identify these Aluminum Para Ordnance P14 45ACP plus capacity base pads as pictured. I can not remember where/when I got them. USPSA member TY13098 no I am not missing a digit, I am just old.

Since it can not possibly head space correctly, either the extractor was holding the case head to the breech face so the primer could hit it, or the 9mm bullet was seated so long that it was head spacing off the bullet touching the rifling, either way is not proper. Just because you were doing it, does not mean you were doing it correctly.

A PCC shooting 9mm minor factory pressure ammo the longer barrel is not going to take the velocity past what 38 super and 9 major pistol calibers are going to produce, so the protect the steel from ammunition point if false.

You can't do this without a barrel change, the 9mm case head spaces off the length of the chamber, 9mm does not shoot in a 38 Super autoloader.
