  1. I have used all small primers. Federal to ginex. But I run my 9 major ammo at about 178pf. No issues ive foud. Even when doing some load development and had one load going about 1480FPS. I will say at that load the gun was damn flat shooting. But a little too hot for me to be cool with it. Lol
  2. The most rugged out of the ones I've used has been the RTS2 v5. I've broke 2 Alpha 3 dots, 1 SRO, and a few vortex optics. I still use the Alpha 3 simply because I had my A01LD cut for it. The girlfriends r3Max is probably about gone too, button's need to be pressed pretty hard. I would go back to the SRO but I really really hate the window.
  3. @shred i follow that same idea of check at begining and end of practice. Oddly enough at my last match this year i had done a practice session the Friday before. So 2 days prior to the match. I did have to sight in the dot ever so slightly at the end of practice. Thought nothing of it as I sometimes get really nit picky about POI/POA. Go to the match and everything is to the right on the target. Figured it's just my grip or what ever. Adjust my grip next stage and same issue. Durring the last stage I lost the dot but finished the stage. Did ok but not great. Went gome and started really looking at the dot. Found the glass was kind of an odd color on the bottom edge. Pushed on it a little and it popped out. Ahh well. Can't complain too much. It's been on 2 different CO guns and 1 open gun.
  4. Why do they continue down the circle idea? It's dumb IMO. As far as window size they missed on that too. For me the dot tracks up/dn not side to side. So width is way less important then how tall it is. Guess I'll stick with my Alpha 3.
  5. Gonna try to answer all the questions. 9 minor for Limited optics. Optic plate is glock. He did a stepped cut so there wasn't a gap at the front of the optic since the RTS2 is longer then the plate. Optic longevity I doubt I'll have any issue with. I've never broken a RTS2 yet on any of my guns. I have cracked the glass on a Alpha 3 twice though. I've put about 200 rounds through it so far. Running a 10lb recoil spring and 17lb main spring. Dot tracks perfect and from my slow mo video it looks like there is just the slightest dip. But even with that I can do .18s splits and have two holes about 1/2" apart. I will say I'm not 100% sure I like the new design of the geppert/atlas trigger shoe. I really like the original because it had serrations on it. I was going to change to LO right away but I think I'll stick with CO until after nats this year. I set a goal of shooting 70% of first place and want to complete it. Then it's over to LO. I will say for me at least having a magwell is a nice addition.
  6. Nahh I'm going to judge them on the whole package. The two companies I send money to for custom 2011/1911s will answer with in a few hours. Send updates without me even reaching out. Give a estimated timeline up front with out asking. And if anything does come up they update asap. That's part of running a buisness. Especially in this market. Bad customer service IMO shows a lack of care. That lack of care may or may not be in other areas of the company. But I'm not willing to find out. Especially if it's going to cost me thousands of dollars. As for them being the best..... Mm there are other companies doing basicly the same work (except for making a whole new gun, A01). Some have better CS amd some have worse.
  7. Got to call em man. Belive me I know how frustrating it is to get ahold of them and get an answer.
  8. Well either they decided to have LO or I shoot this in open. Either way I wanted it amd I got it. As usual Dan fid a killer job on building it. Vytel manufacturing anodized the Cheely al grip in their color case hardened awesomeness. Rest of the gun is black nitride.
  9. When I ordered new mags for my open gun last year I got the DLC Atlas 170s. I doubt there are any actual benefits to the coating. They do look cool to me and since I ain't winning a match I may as well look cool while loosing. It's like riding a rigid frame harley with an open primary and kick start only. You don't build the bike for comfort. You build it because it looks cool.
  10. For the love of God DO NOT change the shape of the window. It's the only one optimized for tracking the dot. You don't need a wide window. You need a tall window. Also I really like the updated battery tray. One of mine with the old tray like to pop open slightly every so often.
  11. You can have all steel, just has to be poppers. Already couldn't do just plates.
  12. Wow no kidding. Oddly enough I happen to own quite a few 2011s. I want a DWX because it's a different take on the 2011. I am assuming the recoil and lock up feel is a little different and more like the PT Honcho setup. Anyways next time I'll be sure to check with you before writing my opinion on anything. It's only irritating because there aren't any wide safetys out for them yet.
  13. I'm gonna say it again. If you want the most grip that isn't going to wear down to being smooth in a year or less get the patriot defense grips. They are basicly the same as getting an aggressive 2011 grip texture. I have them on a tanfo stock 2 and an A01LD and even after a year of matches, practice, dry fire they are as sharp as the brand new ones waiting on my second A01LD. Another very nice thing patroit does is allow you to get a palm swell on one side and standard for the other side. Personally I like the swell on both sides but it is a cool option.
  14. Are the fire controls and safetys normal 1911 parts?
  15. Considering I don't need it right now yes.
  16. Anyone know where I can find one in stock? I want one.
  17. Quit wasting money on factory mags and just get the MBX ones. I have 6, all run 100% as long as you clean them every few stages or if they get dropping right in the dirt/sand after a stage. Also replace the guts every year. But that's cheap.
  18. Wonder if the trigger return will be better on the orange?
  19. I hit burn out in 2022 right after CO Nats. Well actually about half way through nats. Had a mag malfunction on the fixed time stage and after that just stopped caring. It wasn't so much that single mag issue as it was a culmination of equipment issues at precisely the wring time at every match all year when everything worked just fine the rest of the time. The absolute trash heap of bull crap being spewed all over social media, the felt tension all over uspsa matches, me changing jobs, (hands done that in 5.5 years) and my desire to continue being gone. Sadly I had signed up for nats and Atomic blast the weekend after with a nice actual vacation in-between. I did end up having a good time on vacation and at the Atomic blast. Right after it I put both my CO guns on here for sale and said I was done. No more. Didn't even touch them for a few months. A while after I got back home and settled into the new job I just had enough of seeing the social media pot stirring amd deleted almost everyone and everything uspsa related. A few close friends reached out and asked me to go shoot sporting clays and I did that a few times and got to thinking about uspsa again and started talking to a few of my shooting buddies. Went to a couple locals and just shot the match and didn't think about how I did, or anything but having fun. About mid December I started messing around with some different loads for the open gun and just didn't enjoy it. So one night I took my CO guns to the range and the open gun and shot both. I had a bunch of fun and remembered how much I love my CO guns. So I went back a couple more times and enjoyed it. Just running some drills, nothing serious. It would calm me down and I started tracking progress again. Told myself I'm not shooting 10+ majors in 4 months this year. Fast forward to today and I have 6 majors6 majors over 4 months. Decided to work the local charity major match for the first time as well. But I'm not adding anything uspsa meme or crap related to my social media and not partaking in any of the drama. I do have one goal for the year. Shoot 70% of first place. Last year's goal was 65% and I got 58.09%.
  20. @rowdyb I set up the drill tonight except could only get the tsrgets spaced about 1.5ft apart due to how the target hangers are setup at the indoor range i use. It was that or about 5.5-6ft apart. Anyways, I got down to about .18-.20 transition but not consistent will all alphas yet. That will come in time. I did however find out that changing to a lighter spring and larger pad for the mag release I drop the mags out the bottom of the gun unexpectedly. Lol. I reminded me why I don't run the mag release buttons on my 1911/2011s. That was a quick fix with the dremel at gome though. I only need the mag button to slightly extend out and make the mag release flat on my AO1 so I just reshaped it. Being left handed has its minor quirks. I hit it with my trigger finger and tend to hit the forward part of it. The factory one is nice but tapered at the front making it harder to hit. Anyway long story short this drill is FUN and very helpful.
