  1. I really appreciate all of you taking the time to help me out, it really means a lot. @GunBugBit Ive been making slight improvements to my draw. I hope to get some footage of next weeks steel challenge to visually see what it looks like now. It would probably be a good idea for me to start logging some basic par times during live fire practice. That way I can track my progress. @saibot I will pick up Steve's book next chance I get. This weekend I am going to make some PVC boxes and start working on entering the position. Again, thank you all.
  2. I'm glad you said something about facing down range, I had no idea that was a rule. Dont want to make that mistake during a bigger match. I shoot production which limits me to 11 rounds at the start and 10 in all other magazines. I agree, a good number of my miss are on the last target of an array. I must be rushing myself to start moving to the next position.
  3. Great tip. Makes a lot of sense.
  4. I agree with all of your points. The second stage felt very awkward trying to move backwards while preforming a reload and maintaining muzzle control. The reload thing is going to be a hard habit to break.
  5. Stage 4 was "4 Bill Drill (08-01)" classifier, not shown in video. Had three misses on it. =(
  6. Dry fire has been continuing as normal. Matches have been highlighting several weaknesses for me to work on. I got to go to a local USPSA match about a week ago and recorded some footage to review. This match illustrates some glaring problems. 1. Movement, I'm slow as molasses still and I haven't been able to make any progress here. I think I will dedicate a few rage days to improving my movement in the near future. 2. Shooting pace, I'm shooting way to slow/safe most of the time. This is very noticeable in the last array of targets in stage one. I am capable of shooting at a faster pace but I need to be in the right state of mind. 3. Distance shooting, I just have not practiced this skill. No more excuses, I just need to practice.
  7. Do you case gauge? I'm just getting into loading so I'm very inexperienced. A piece of 380 brass made it into my first batch of loads but I was able to catch it when I dident feel any resistance on the down stroke. It was such a small change that I cant expect to catch all of them in the future. I was thinking of investing in one of the Hundo case gauges and was wondering if it would catch 380's.
  8. Looks like you are shooting the CZ very well for little practice. LPA makes the same set of sights for the CZ SPO1 shadow, if the rear cuts are the same it might be worth getting a set.
  9. I have Ben Stoegers, Dry Fire Reloaded with some scaled down dry fire targets on the way. That should spice training up a bit.
  10. Thanks a bunch saibot. Ive been working on my surrender position starts but it doesn't looks like it translated into the match yet. Ive been trying to imitate Jerry Miculek. https://youtu.be/QucT2B9b9gE?t=97 This looks very close to what your describing. I think I just need more repetitions in practice. I agree I need to work on my movement. Its one of those things that's a bit difficult to practice during dry fire. I can probably make a few boxes out of PVC and practice box to box movement.
  11. Ive began to dabble into reloading. Under the guidance of my kind neighbor I produced my first 250 rounds. Straight wall pistol cases are not to bad on a dillon square, so I think this is definitely something I will pursue further. Hopefully it will supplement shooting costs a bit. Ive got a good deal of range brass saved up, maybe 6000 pieces. From the research ive done, this is what Ive decided to try next. 125gr Blue Bullets RN TiteGroup CCI 500's Range brass Please feel free add suggestions.
  12. Jan 8, 2018 - Weekend Recap Shot IDPA this Saturday, unlike most of the country, the weather hear has been beautiful. Didn't get any video of the match. Overall my shooting was good but once again I completely bungled the warmup. This is becoming a reoccurring issue with me. I need to find a way to warmup before the match and say in that mindset throughout the stage setup. In this case the warmup was a draw and shoot 6 limited (Virginia count) at about 10 yards. My first shot broke way to early , about a foot under the target. Of the other 5 shots only 2 were in the down zero, the three others were down 1 for a total of +8. Raw time was 4.36. https://practiscore.com/results/html/564624ab-0fed-4147-9ab6-79b46240f9ff?page=overall-combined The other stages went well, no complaints there.
  13. Hello All, Ive got some 3 gun footage. Please take a look an let me know if you see anything I could improve on. I'm mostly focusing on pistol for the moment but I wont turn down any advice on rifle or shotgun. Stage ones pistol shooting was a bit sloppy but otherwise I feel good about the match. I dident get to record stage five, which was a shot, pistol only course similar to outer limits.
  14. How is the surgery recovery going? Any plans for a match?
  15. Back from break, and the Q5 is back from Walther. Got it back Dec 21, so 10 days total. Looks like they replaced the whole trigger assembly? Ether way, its working fine now. Dryfire has resumed, with a strong emphasis on transitions. Its difficult to see any progress in this area yet but ill stick with it for now. Got to shoot a fun 3gun match over the break. Pistol shooting was sloppy on the first stage but tightened up near the end. Overall I'm happy with my performance. I have some footage, ill try and get it uploaded today or tomorrow. IDPA is this weekend, Ill begin to incorporate drawing from concealment and slide lock reloads into training.
  16. Force your hand to return to the original shooting position after the reload. Your speed is more then fine. With the reload being such a small part of PCC my guess is your training time is probably better spent elsewhere for now. Continue to do it for upkeep, just dont make it the main focus. Just my opinion.
  17. Ugg I cannot stop from double posting, sorry...
  18. Well that puts a damper on things. Rest up and enjoy the holiday man. Heal and start up dryfire when you can. You can probably practice week/strong hand only, from your bed.
  19. How may rnds you dropping in your life fire sessions?
  20. How may rnds you dropping in your life fire sessions?
  21. Fun side note the vp9 and q5 RSA's look to be interchangeable.
  22. No, sending it back to Walther today. Had to shoot Saturday with my VP9. Good gun, just not what I practice with. Dident feel like going to Sundays match.
  23. Recoil spring/rod arrive Friday. If that doesn't fix my issues its off to Walther.
