Welcome Jason! I like Prejean's in Lafayette, Mulatte's in Breaux Bridge, catfish court-bullion, etouffe, and a few other LA things I'm also a TS owner 9 and 40.
I shot IPSC in my 20s and the got away from it as life and family took over. I will be starting USPSA in the Spring. I"m 67 and haven't' shot competitively since then. I'm NOT worried about the age thing, you shouldn't be either.
I have a tendency to grip tight with my fingers and forget to grip tight with the heels of my hands. This almost always causes my second shot to go 3 or 4 inches left. YMMV.
Thanks for the ideas. The SWCs were all I had in 40 at the time so we loaded 100 test rounds. I have ordered samples of Blue bullets and some from Gallant. I intend to work up loads from Titlegroup and a coated bullet.
I have a new TS .40 cal. Only change made was to add Taylor Freelance basepads to the magazines. Ammo was range brass reloaded with PD 180 gran lead SWC and Universal powder. I don't remember the exact OAL but I can't tell any difference in length between the Winchester factory ammo and the handloads. The pistol fails to go into battery one or twice for every magazine. Doesn't seem to happen with the small sample of factory Winchester factory ammo. My first thoughts are that I might need different mag springs with the non-stock basepads. Second thought is the shape of the lead SWCs in the handloads may be the culprit. Please share if you have had this problem and what solutions you found.
Yep, you can tell you are an old timer when .... John Shaw was there and he had just won some big championship. I had to borrow brother in law pistol, crossdraw still allowed so I shot it that way. Back home with a little time I realized I was faster on the hip but I still have it.
Thanks for all the comments. I appreciate the honest back and forth on this forum. I'm not in the market right now because I reload on a friends Dillon. You might say I'm just doing due diligence. Will make my final decision after I move to Georgia next summer. Who knows maybe a unicorn 650 will fall into my lap.
What is available to make the mag release easier to reach? I've seen some mods to Shadow 2s that seem to address this. I shoot well with the big grip but have some trouble accessing and releasing the mag. All suggestions welcome.
Not be a wet blanket but ... shooter so focused downrange he slips off the back ..... shooter so focused downrange he places on foot on the non-moving rail while the other foot is on moving tread? I've seen both happen at the fitness center and the results could have been bad if he had a loaded pistol in his hand.
