  1. Some matches in my area give registration fee DISCOUNTS for those who setup stages.  Others don't.

Either way, they all expect shooters to teardown stages after the match... for FREE!  Why?

I don't PAY to see a movie at the theater, then cleanup popcorn afterwards.  I don't PAY to attend a sporting event, then teardown the concessions stands.  I don't PAY to eat at a restaurant, then mop the floors and put the chairs on top of the tables.

If I PAY a fee and you don't use that money to PAY someone to setup and/or teardown, it's not my responsibility/ obligation to do it for FREE.

If the match is FREE, I will setup and teardown each and every stage.  If I am given a registration DISCOUNT to teardown, then I will do it.  But PAY to shoot, then teardown for FREE (especially when those who setup received a DISCOUNT)... NO.

Do you have a compelling argument?

So you are not asked to never come back?

Yes it happens to people with poor attitudes.

  2. This is the 3rd or 4th shortage I lived through and am properly stocked. New shooters will learn to be prepared for the next shortage. When there is no shortage and things are cheap, buy and maintain a 2year stock.

  3. How do you handle this at your matches?

How do you adjust the shooter order to allow adequate spacing between RO’s so that they can shoot?

If you are talking PractiScore shooting order, there is no perfect solution. You can hit the random button a dozen times and the order still sucks. Just pull them out of order to keep things flowing.

  4. I don’t know many ROs who would have ran a shooter with a person standing that close to the 180 at the edge of the bay. The 6’ back some mentioned is fine if you are closer to the shooter, but not sufficient at that distance and resulting angle.

  5. I do whenever possible. If I don’t I am often rushed. Almost weekly we just finish setup when the match briefing is starting then go right into RO/Scorekeeper mode. If my mags are not loaded it’s a scramble to get them loaded without holding up the squad.

  6. Many of us really miss matches, and my wife and I can’t wait to resume shooting them. However, we realize that without a current vaccine or effective treatment, and the current state of testing, social distancing is about all we have as an option. As a country we are spending 2 to 4 trillion on on social distancing, and jumping the gun and resuming competitions early violates the spirit if not the letter of the law. Dry fire, live fire practice, and talking about shooting in person and on the web will hold us until we get the make ready command.

The laws vary by state. Where I am you can go buy a car at a dealer, get your car serviced, go to Lowe’s or Home Depot (they quite busy) and thousands of construction workers are still building houses. Now running a match in downstate NY with what is going on would not be wise.

  7. Why did you take off the ratchet? I've seen a few people do it so I'm wondering if it's an "in the know" mod.

Mine would lock up about a dozen out of 100 rounds every time I loaded. Even working with Dillon over the phone I was not able to get reliable results with it. My 650 never had this feature and I never make the mistake it is designed to prevent. I took it off and the press runs like a top.

  8. Weeks? Months? How many?

Last time it was a few years before things went back to normal. Get on in-stock alert lists and jump on them when they come in.
