  2. I’ve never used Accurate #2. But i have compared sport pistol and bullseye, and sport pistol came out the winner Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Uhhh i thought this thread was about saving revolver. Not killing it.
  4. Why not just buy from star line? They make both short Colt and long Colt and it will save you hours of work. Since you’re buying brass anyway, I’m not sure what advantage there is to cutting your own. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. This is the crux of the issue in my opinion. ICORE is doing just fine. In part because it’s competitive and everyone is shooting a similar platform. Which raises the level of the competition for all participants. People shoot competitively because they want to compete. [stating the obvious, but that’s really the issue]. If there’s no real revolver group to compete against, why show up other than to get in some practice. Which you can do yourself. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. American Select is my preference as well
  7. Well it would be a nice surprise for Federal to load something on the hot side for once. Most of their handgun stuff has been very anemic in my experience.
  8. Good idea I’ll contact them. 38SC has the same case capacity and near identical diameter to 9mm. So using similar bullet weights and similar charges to 9mm should yield similar pressures to 9mm. I usually find a 9mm load that looks like it will work in 38SC. Then i reduce by 20% and work up to the PF i need. Only shoot in guns chambered in 357 obviously. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. 3.7 grains of American Select under a 135 gn Bayou bullet makes 127 pf out of my 627 pc. Haven’t tried a 147 grain bullet but you would be safe somewhere below 3.5 grains. In testing i went up to 4.6 grains of American Select with 135 bayous with no pressure signs. (I don’t recommend this as it’s unneccesary.) One issue with American Select is that it is large flakes. So metering the smaller weights can be inconsistent. I found that my powder drop was bridging powder if the weight was below 4.0 grains. At 4.0 and above it was consistent. So for 38SC i moved away from American Select. However, i use American Select in every other target load for any other caliber because it has consistently given me the tightest groups. Great powder
  10. My two piece rod pin on my 45acp Hunter sheared after only 1000 rounds. They are easy to replace but you could encounter problems with the power behind the 9x25. Cool project btw
  11. Thanks for the tip!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. This is very exciting news. I was at the IRC but had to shoot the first two days with the range officers because i couldn’t be there for the main two days. I’m so sorry i missed seeing this gun. I’ll be one of the first in line to try it when they roll it out. Thanks for the heads up. And MWP, congrats on the IRC win!
  13. Now that Ruger is an ICORE sponsor and appears to be poised to make a serious push in the competition circuit, I’ll be interested if they make any efforts to redesign some things. If the Redhawk internal design could be revamped, it would be awesome. It’s hard for me to imagine the Redhawk displacing the 627 without making that trigger substantially better.
  14. ^^^^^^Yep. Taper crimp has worked well for me on coated bullets.
  15. Check your bullets. That or the die is faulty.
  16. Lee makes a three die set. Use a 9mm taper crimp die
  17. I have been using 4.2 gns of American Select. Fills the case well and burns clean and consistent. It’s been accurate for me out of my Dan Wesson 715. Makes power factor. Probably at the edge of or slightly over 38+p pressures. I have also used VV320 with success.
  18. Making minor in SC with VV320 is easy. Use 9mm data as a starting point, load light to start and run a ladder test until you make 130 pf and you’re good.
  19. Your mainspring could be replaced. I would also pull out the firing pin and double check it. I saw a 627 recently that started getting light strikes. Turned out the firing pin was broken in half but still working (somewhat). Could be an ammo issue too. No way to know except by process of elimination
