  1. Was that before or after T-rex ? LOL
  2. Dawson Precision is just plain awesome! My son needed a front sight for the Area6 match this weekend and on Monday they were out of stock. One call and explanation of our dilemma and they made the sight Monday afternoon, blasted it and blues it Tuesday and put on a UPS truck and in our hands by 9:00a.m. Wednesday! Just another fine example of the shooting community working at its best! What a wonderful world we could have if we replaced the government with great hard working people from the shooting community. Thank you Dave Dawson and employees!
  3. Make sure you minimize movement. Get your gear set up in the right place where your hands can come straight down from surrender position and fall onto the gun grip just by rotating at the elbow only. The less you have to move to complete the draw, the faster you can get. Next you need to decide on the draw method: Max Michele Jr likes to very aggressively attack the grip kind of a quick grab and snatch, Doug Koenig likes to be a little smoother and almost swoop the gun out of the holster. Watch their you tube videos and practice both until you can decide which works best for you. There are other pro shooters these are just the 2 that came to mind first. Once you decide on the draw style and can repeat your gear placement use a par time to practice your draws. Set a standard for yourself ( like having to beat the timer 5 times in a row before lowering your par time). Practice live at further distances, like 40 yards. If you consistently practice at 10 yards you will become good at 10 yards, mix it up. Stay after it, it will come.
  4. Awesome!! Buy a spinning target at the walmart, she will like making it spin I bet. Hats off to you for sharing your time with your kids. Life gets way too busy and complicated on its own, it's awesome hearing about people who take time to slow it down and spend one on one time with their kids and spouses!
  5. My son stated at 10. We however have a unique 6 year old who shoots .22 S&W compact. He is moving into pcc now, but is a very safe shooter. My son was taught with the same .22, he went to all my matches, learned how to keep score, attended RO training with me, talked to Jesse Duff sho asked why he wasn't shooting and 2 months later I bought him a 5.25 competition Springfield Armory to shoot production with. Rest is history. My daughter attends with my wife to the level 2s and 3s, both like to shoot, but are just too shy to do it in front of people.(kinda glad, fun tickets would be stretched really thin). Good luck with getting your bunch to follow along. It is good quality family time. You may even get them into rim fire steel challenge if those happen close to you.

  7. My son shoots, so momma doesn't mind. After the first couple level 2s she attended she actually started liking it. We are about to head to Area 6 Championship in a few days and she is excited. Taking your significant other along to local matches may not be fun for them, but traveling to other places and making it a mini vacation will be, or has been for those I know.
  8. "Character cannot be developed in ease, and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened ambition inspired, and success achieved." Helen Keller
  9. Very happy with mine! Gun runs smoother & a tad softer. Lasts a very long time. Wouldn't do my gun wrong by not using it. Thanks Enos
  10. Astroturf is way too hot. Cushions your body, but will burn you up in the process. Neat and orderly will do, don't really matter if all the mesh is the same color or if the wall construction is identical go me that just cost $$$$$ and makes my pocket hurt.
  11. Who ever had that brain fart should be chastised daily- brass plated steel....bad bad idea ?
  12. "Success is not final;Failure is not fatal: It is the courage to continue that counts." Winston S. Churchill
  13. Seen a DVD open lock up on its 2nd shot. STI fixed and sent back within 3 weeks. Gun has run flawless for almost a year now.
  14. For what you are paying for powder, I would check into buying ammo from a noteable supplier before playing with tite group for 9mm major. It is not worth the risk!! You could also take Sarge's advice and shoot minor. Shoot carry optics if you have to, but do not continue on your current path, it's just plain dangerous!
  15. "The successful warrior is the average man, with laser-like focus" Bruce Lee
  16. Assuming you did hardwood, I would just go down to the flooring store and ask for a scrap piece of carpet and pad large enough for for to also stand on or place a chair on. If you spill something on it, it's no big deal to swap out.

  18. Welcome to the forum!
  19. Got one verifying a shipment the other day. Bought some g2 followers.
  20. And survey says.....absolutely correct

  22. I too have seen stepped cases divorce during matches. Squib rod is not much help in removal either. It just is not worth having to stop practicing or leave a match over. Chunk the steps!
  23. You will enjoy! I shot a Springfield Armory in limited for 2.5 years before the 2011 bug bit me. I still love that plastic gun! Much more comfortable than that g#@%*. Just can't bring myself to say it ? Enjoy!
  24. It is a game and yes you are going to eat lunch afterward no matter the results, but you should still care about your performance. Especially if you carry throughout your day to day life......you will want to hit all your intended targets and what you practice will and does carry over when the crap hits the fan.
