  1. What I can’t seem to wrap my head around is the fact only 17% of open shooters are still using a slide ride optic but the vertical / horizontal mount split is shown as 55%/45% How can that optic mount breakdown be correct?
  2. Golf nets have smaller mesh that may be a better starting point for you something like this ( https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-Portable-Driving-Practice-Golf/dp/B07KR7DJCH ) problem is then you have to fabricate some type of pvc base to lift the unit off the ground so it can gravity feed into a catch bucket. Since your going to be fabricating the base anyway I’d start from scratch with something like this mesh ( https://www.amazon.com/Tricam-TRP-8X16M-WG-Weather-Extreme-Multi-Use/dp/B00I3J4N7G ) and build the top end of the frame with some aluminum tent rods for easy breakdown ( https://www.amazon.com/Weanas-Aluminum-Tent-Replacement-Accessories/dp/B07BW183Z8 ) All that’s gonna take some time so it really depends what your time is worth to you and how big of a rush you are in. If you have time I’d wait for the next DAA 15% off sale and just grab theirs. This has me thinking after spending time this AM hunting in the grass and sand for my brass.
  3. I can’t wait to see it in action! I need to stop drafting up slide cuts in my head and get something on paper so my clock can start counting down.
  4. Nice explanation and something positive looks to have come out of an unfortunate situation.
  5. Properly applied cerakote (shot with an Iwata, not a paasche/harbor frieght gun) goes on at .5 - 1 mil and will not affect the texture. It’s durable but will wear at the holster contact points, so if you want it coated stainless I would save the cash and stick to cerakote since the wear won’t be noticeable. If you want something darker and are going to be upset when you can see the steel showing at your holster wear then save up and spring for the DLC.
  6. On the Larue website: https://www.larue.com/products/lt204/
  7. True true went back and they were discussing 5.4” sorry for the confusion, guess b_rad will have to wait for the new KKM hybrids to come out
  8. thanks for the offer but I’m gonna stick with it hit up infinity....worst case 6 weeks but there was another thread someone stated theirs showed up in only a couple weeks!!
  9. Good eye yes it is My current open pistol has ambi SV safety, so this will be my first set of shielded safeties. I'm a lefty so not sure if ill have the same issues or not but what did you go with... double tap? Thanks for the heads up
  10. Just waiting on the comp and then this bundle of goodies is headed Dons way! Still dreaming up my lightening cuts, judging by his latest photos on FB not much he can't accomplish with a mill. IDAHOA excited to see how that color combo you choose turns out, upload pics when you can.
  11. Are you saying instead of replacing your barrel/comp STI has decided to completely replace the gun? If so thats awesome and choosing the DLC coated pistol is the way to go!
  12. Gooldylocks and Max.... I’m starting with a long dust cover frame what are you guys thoughts on how much to chop off? Top End will be Binary Eng Comp on SV hybrid barrel. Looks like most of Max’s open guns are just a butler cut and still have good length to the dust cover. Is it mainly a personal preference? I only have experience with a short dust cover open gun and very minimal with it Thanks
  13. Great looking pistol, that detail on the rear of the slide is slick. Patiently waiting for a few more parts to come in and then I’ll be shipping them off to Don.
  14. Slvr with Black Friday looming I’m going to make a suggestion that you build a dedicated 22 upper. This way your competition rifles reliability won’t be compromised. For less than 2x what you paid for that fancy gas block you could be in business.
  15. Are you using copper plated .22lr if not the tube could be fouled up pretty good? I use silicone plugs I got off amazon and bored a hole for the air gun. Best of luck getting it figured out nothing worse than a semi auto chassis that’s relegated to bolt action status.
  16. Your last sentence may be the problem.... adjusting the set screw could have caused build up behind the screw to come loose and create a blockage in the tube.... may try plugging and injecting compressed air into the barrel to blow anything that’s hung in the tube out.
  17. Tanks thanks for that....BUT RO stated the bullet ricocheted off the ground and over the berm into the trees, thus warranting the DQ.
  18. NOW THAT LOOKS LIKE SOME FUN! I will check in with them and see if they have planned for lighting baffles and then that can drive whether we pursue paper or steel matches. Thank you guys for the fast feedback.
  19. The self healing targets caught my eye but life expectancy was stated as only 1,000 rounds, could get expensive replacing those often.
  20. There is a gun shop near me that is breaking ground and a new indoor facility. Haven't been able to break away on weekends and make it to the local outdoor matches (hour away) near as much as i would like. So i figured it would be great if this new indoor range held a steel match at night during the week once a month. As a beginner in USPSA and Steel Challange I'm looking for advice on what options there are for indoor matches as well as answers to any concerns the range owner would have. I believe he is more of a full auto guy than the competition type but when the question arose on his FB page he said they were open to the idea competitions. I have a coworker that is a NROI Range Officer so that's a solid start. Thanks in advance for any helpful comments.
  21. Special Ops Tactical makes a rifle length gas 14.8” barrel with an rearward angled gas port that they claim is reliable. Has anyone heard of any actual real world use? For $209 may be worth a testing out.
  22. Probably had the pistol locked while pasting/resetting and failed to think about unlocking when given make ready command. First time I switched from a striker fired pistol to a 2011 I was DQ’d for a ND as I disengaged safety right out of the holster and before I was on target trigger finger came in sent one down range. Since that time I’m riding safety until I get sight picture on the target.
  23. No hands on experience but have followed the build up to their unveiling and the MBX certainly deserves a hard look from anyone who didn’t want to piecemeal a PCC.
  24. My speedcross4 are also labeled made in Vietnam on the tongue
