  1. I use it as a supplement to drill safety concepts and range commands into my kids heads in the backyard.

I don’t get them to the range regularly enough for everything to be second nature so it’s a perfect refresher.

My son has the cheap colt pistol/rifle kit from bass pro, but I know Sig makes a setup that is almost exact copy of actual weight and controls.

  2. Best option if you have to have it is New Frontier!

    copied from their site:

QUESTION:   Do you offer a reliable last round / empty magazine bolt hold open (LRBHO) System for this lower?

ANSWER:  YES — After watching several companies try and fail to incorporate a RELIABLE last round bolt hold open (LRBHO) system into their lower receivers we decided to take a different approach and will be incorporating our LRBHO technology (PATENT PENDING) in our matching upper receivers.  After rigorous testing and hundreds of hours of research and development we feel that this is the best option for LRBHO on a Glock magazine AR style firearm.  Our upper will be compatible with other manufacturers lower receiver that either don’t have a LRBHO or you can scrap the non-working LRBHO out of your existing AR-9 Glock Mag lower and solve the issue of not having a 100% functioning LRBHO.  For more information on our matching AR-9 Upper, please CLICK HERE.

  3. Trace is right.... in the classifieds here that would be about a 2k pistol BUT the Wick fans on Gunbroker seem to be driving prices on STIs thru the roof.  Quick search on GB shows one in .40 sold yesterday for $2,800.  In 9mm folks are paying above msrp for used DVCs on there, it’s crazy!

  4. Everglades makes a nice cost effective primer hold down mechanism that fits in the factory Dillon 1050 tool head over the priming station, so I can’t see the need for an aftermarket head with tapped full size opening at this location.  Now I’m sure it’s more durable, but unless you are running automated I can’t imagine the factory head falling short.

I know it is a little pricey, but have you looked at Hunters HD Gold?  There are several styles, and some are adjustable. They probably have something that would be exactly what you are needing.

If anyone in this family gets a pair of Hunters Golds it’s gonna be me! I have been wanting some for awhile now and planned on pulling the trigger at MS Classic Level II butttttt unfortunately it had to be canceled.

Seriously if she sticks with it I’ll certainly make the investment if they have a pair that fits her well, so far she has enjoyed it tremendously and is a surprisingly good shot.

Thanks for the suggestion charlie, only concern is the wisp seem to have small amount of facial coverage (I use tombstones which basically cover half my face 🤣).

While searching thru the Tifosi offerings I came across the podium, and grabbed a cheap pair off ebay to see if they will fit my kids face as small as the wisp!

Sounds like foam plugs are the consensus for their little ears.... appreciate all the feedback

  7. I have a five(m) and seven(f) year old who love going to the range and shooting the 22/45 lite, but the entire time they complain about the glasses / ear muffs hurting.  90% of this is that they are not used to wearing anything on their face, but i do feel like if i found some gear more suited for their age it would be more comfortable.

Can anyone recommend quality PPE for shooters under 10?

In Max’s IG Live Dry Fire session on Friday, he said more (200-300) of the Sig optics will be available in a few weeks. After that he said they should been easier to get, smoother/more frequent distribution.

I know it wasn’t one if your OP choices but you might look at Akai Custom parts. They have a couple different mounts to choose from & seem to be able to easily make modifications as needed. They really helped me out when I was trying to match (feel & weight) my back up open gun to my match gun. Love their thumb rests & magwells too.

Took my akai SRO Mount and got to work.  Clipped the post off and then drilled / tapped.  Just have to make sure and hold optic plumb while tightening down.  Should work fine since I don’t plan on taking it back off once I spray the Mount black.i9DMDaU.jpgK707JVP.jpgee9mGdg.jpg

Anyone use snapcaps for their 2011? I have an extended firing pin, that seems to chew through the ones I picked up -   B's Dryfire Snapcaps

It just punched a hole right through the primer area after a few months of dryfire.

Are these just considered consumable or is there a brand that holds up to use?

I would say they are supposed to be consumable to prevent damage or accelerated wear to the expensive part of the equation.

I picked up mine off amazon no clue the brand but they started to show wear pretty quick and I don’t dry fire that often.

About that time I got another 2011 and was having feeding issues.  Figuring it was magazine related I needed to load up my own dummy rounds with my actual oal and projectile. Took an razorblade and trimmed some rubber to snuggly fit primer hole, pretty easy to make your own.

Main thing is keeping them well marked as dummy rounds and in a separate place in range bag from live ammo.

I'm using the Holosun with the 65 moa ring and 2 moa center dot (I think this is the center dot size).

Target acquisition is much easier and faster.

I liked that setup for Steel, but found it to be way too busy for partial and tuxedo shots forcing a slower pace

  11. Started with slideride 6 moa then went to the 510c with 2.5 moa and felt the trade off of glass size vs dot size wasn’t worth it.

Jumped to the SRO 5 moa and it’s been great but after seeing the Romeo 3 XL 6 moa that’s where I’m headed next, should be best of both worlds.  Hoping it ships in the next couple weeks!

dropper die works much better on the 1050 but now if I run the press at anything other than super careful, I get bullets flopping over at the next station. I have adjusted the bell from non existent to visibly too much with no improvement.

anyone have any suggestions?  Search has turned up stuff I’ve been trying.

So they drop fine but fall over when they reach the seater station ?

If so you may need a little more bell

They have an Extra aggressive option on the honcho raceshop. I wonder if that is a newer more aggressive version?

I believe they set the end mill to cut deeper.  I selected extra aggressive on my build that should be in shortly and will report back.

Unfortunately no.  About 2 weeks later they had a sale where you buy a honcho and get a free barrel.

I know the feeling I hit up the vets sale you described and then Black Friday came along but I kept thinking well at least I’m ahead of the rush

I wouldn’t have delayed mine a day as PT has been awesome to work with, give us a range report when you get a hold of it.  Judging by your dates I shouldn’t be too far out now.

    From Wolff:

The difference is both physical and operational. With a conventional spring, all the coils are spaced equally apart, except for the closed ends. In a variable recoil spring the space varies between coils with less space between coils at one end and more space between coils at the other end.

The way the two springs store energy is also different. For example if a conventional recoil spring is compressed 1/2", it might store 1 pound of energy. For every additional 1/2" this spring is compressed it would then store 1 additional pound of energy. When a variable recoil spring is compressed 1/2", it might store 1/4 pound of energy. The next half inch of compression might store 1/2 pound, the next half inch might store 3/4 pound and so on. In other words, a conventional spring stores energy on a straight line and a variable spring stores energy on a curve. If both springs are rated at 16 pounds, they will both store 16 pounds when compressed to the same working length, but the way they get to 16 pounds is different.

Great info.....so clearly the felt recoil will be different, which do you prefer on your setups ?
