  1. I got tired of dryfiring my draws, reloads, etc. And i was itching to go shoot a match but schedule did not permit it with daddy duties taking priority. So instead, i took some leftover scrap and made a stage at home! Its not the real thing but its definitely showing my weaknesses. I also have my wife and kid create the stage and rearrange the targets for me so I can practice mental preps.

Made a dryfire stage at home...

I know it will probably be simple to make, BUT, has anyone ever made a dryfire, scaled down texas star target that spins?!

    Open 9mm Glocks

Best advice after learning from my mistakes, go glock 22. It is the most versatile, affordable, and most competitive platform to go by. It will require you to modify it perfectly for whatever division you shoot in. Wanna shoot limited? Get a magwell, and a frame weight. Once you master that, add a sight block! All this while still scoring major. They got caliber conversions to 9mm, but you cant convert 9 to 40 without buying a new slide. I wouldnt say shooting open minor/major was a waste of time. I learned a few things and mastered one. I learned how to chase and track a dot during live and dry fire. I mastered clearing the numerous jams it had. Ever seen a stovepipe get cleared in .7 seconds? Bottom line is, buy a used trade in glock 22. Perfect the fundamentals as you work your way up to a 2011

    Halo Neuroscience?

In all reality, those guys have won before without it. Max won the big three in 2014 without it. There are studies and videos of it online by people who were trying to master a musical piece, a marathon runner, and a dancer. It supposedly primes their brain to be receptive. But, i think their daily practice was what contributed to the improvements. I would wear them too and tell people online that i got this good because of this if they were paying me 3k for a fb shoutout. Not sure if thats how much it is. Id rather take Max Michel's shooting supplements and dope up for my next local match.

    How to practice in Iraq?

Unfortunately, this has been the story of my shooting journey. I started back in 2015. Everytime i was getting somewhere, Uncle Sam deployed me again. So, i printed out a bunch of scaled down ipsc targets and taped it throughout my living space in our tents. We created blanket walls to give us some borders (commonly known as spank tanks). Guys would look at me funny but ended up challenging me to mag changes and transition drills. fast forward, im still having to compromise. Im now in korea where no one is allowed to have guns. Reading Cha-lee's posts inspired me to work on my grip strength. I also bought a ton of uspsa training books. So im pretty much focusing on every other aspect of shooting besides the shooting. i did get to go to an olympic skeet shooting and indoor range. Although it was expensive, it was worth it. Fired the glock 17, instructor was telling me to stop canting my left wrist forward. I continued to do so. Target came back from the 25 yard line with a 2.5" grouping in the center. I just smiled back. as for my workouts, I purposely turned then into uspsa driven exercises. I make them explosive while i grip onto a 5lb dumbell. I used my grip trainer as a pistol and dryfire the targets taped all over in my room.

Open Glock question... 34 or 17?

I too run a glock 34 open gun. It took about 10 months to build and tune to how it is now (due to constantly working) i think all open glock shooters go through similar phases 1. "Im just gonna try open minor, see what the deal is about, plus its more cost effecient" 2. This glock is looking cool 3. Compensators and red dots! 4. Why wont it run? 5. 500 to 800 dollars later in parts, im selling this piece of **** 6. (After selling it) sigh... I miss that glock or maybe thats just me. anyway, i made a video of open glock tutorials and other things that i wish i knew before to help save me money and time. most importantly, getting it to run. Main thing is the loads, you can get away shooting minor with it using 124 gr nato rounds, remington 124 gr from walmart and snipping down an 11lb spring to about 9 to 10. Thats very important. if you want to shoot open major and have a higher success rate of cycling without reloading yet, i bought everglades ammunition online, major pf. It was the most cost effecient, i think 15 bucks or something. I kept my recoil spring to 13lbs. heres the video. It has footage in slow motion. I was practicing bill drills all day. Rapid fired 12 rounds with no hiccups. And showed my bill drill progress (unofficial) https://youtu.be/_ZTzeDuSY-U Its no 2011 but its a great introduction to tracking and chasing a red dot. Here is a pic of it. Its a screen shot from my silicone carbide tutorial vid. But like everyone says, go with a trusted barrel like kkm to shoot major. Try not to shoot major. Shoot minor with weaker springs. im letting this one go so i can move up to limited major.
  9. Of course, opinions helped create the final product! I might stray away from the mt. Rushmore thing and just do top 5's I definitely would like to create more. I know there are other shooters that deserve more credit and I also want to showcase other divisions and disciplines. 3 gun, revolver, limited, production, whats next? One topic I want to kindle is, the best rivalries in IPSC/USPSA. Rob vs barnhart? Michel vs kc in steel? Foley vs stoeger ?? Joking
  10. So the reference to Mt. Rushmore is confusing some and I would like to clarify it. I know that people are wondering why we have a Frenchman on there since Mt. Rushmore is an American thing. Im a big sports fanatic. I love basketball, football, boxing, etc. I watch a lot of espn, read, and listen to sports journalism. The term "mt. Rushmore" is oftenly used when discussing top 4's. in basketball, people say Mj, Kobe, Magic, Lebron. Give or take. in basketball, ali, mayweather, pacquiao, oscar dela hoya. but thats where the mt rushmore came from in a sports fanatical sense. they use it in all these big sports, never did one for shooting. Hopefully more people can chime in and get their dedebating juices flowing. But these shooters in the video left us with very little to debate about....i still think Max might still be on the plank as these other shooters are gaining more momentum.

TODAY ONLY: Interview with Bob Vogel, the paper GM

Im fairly new, which book of Stoeger did he mention this?
  12. Thank yall! I just noticed something. If you skip to 3:55 of the video right where Jerry shoots the last steel against Keith Garcia, focus on the ro in the front with the black jacket and black hat. His reaction to Jerry beating KG sums up everything about Jerry. Shaking my head.
  13. I got an A guys! Lol, here is a condensed version of my marketing project. I took out the voice overs and other stuff. Decided it was worth putting in youtube. Anyway So, I know a lot of people are going to disagree. But, my decision was based off what a lot of people contributed and went into the history books to look up numbers and stats. I tried to be as unbias as I could. But numbers don't lie. Im a big fan of Jj Racaza, but Max had more on his shelf. However, with his recent wins, he is catching up. And, in his podcast, he states that this is the first year he will be shooting full time. Guys been winning 1st and 2nd place "part time". Already see a difference. I wanted to squeeze more shooters in like Tomasie, Keonig, Stoeger, Sevigny, Eusebio but I can always do another one for fun. I can also do one for specific divisions and 3 gun! Let me know what yall think!
  14. Hey everyone, I made a dedicated SC application vid. So a lot of the videos online are not so clear. I tried to make it as visual as possible. I also included which supplies I used and where I got them from! All in all, it came out to 26 dollars...and ive done it to 3 pistols so far (after handling my buddies, I became a believer). There is a ton of leftover left from the 2lb pack that will enable you to do more if you wish. If you have a youtube, please like, subscribe, and share it. Im making videos more catered to uspsa shooting. More specifically, videos that I wish I came across when learning techniques, gun mods, and other things that wouldve saved me monies and time! Theres a bunch of tutorials out there, so Im going with what has not been made yet. Thank you
  15. The world shoot is the olympics of sports shooting. Its the biggest stage and comes around every few years. That is why the gold count holds a lot more weight. Eric has 7 - 5 open, 1 standard, 1 production Rob has 6 - 3 of which were earned before division, 2 standard, 1 classic Jerry has has 2 revolver (but we all know the round count in nationals is absurd) And Max has 1 in open. But he was the only one to garner steel, nationals, and world in one year. No ones undermining what Dave, Todd, Bob, Brian, Travis, and everyone else has accomplished. The argument is simply dominance. Ive listened to Racaza's podcast where he described his number one goal was to beat eric at worlds. Back in 14, Eric gave him a heads up that he is competing in standard and the gold for open was a "straight path". Instead, JJ decided to go shoot in standard and placed 2nd behind him. You know youre something else when people want to beat you instead of getting gold.
  16. Bob vogel has one gold at the world shoot in the production division and 5 in the nationals (production and standard). Although we can not discredit his 30+ IDPA accomplishments, it's just not in the conversation. But the main reason why i feel his name is not coming in the top 4 or 5 discussion is because Ben Stoeger's resume is similar. 1 world, and 7 nationals with 5 back to back.

Made a dryfire stage at home...

Haha, closest thing i got are legos
  18. Someone brought up Max only winning with dots. Thats just pure dominance then. He did win limited 10 a while back. With JJ's recent wins this past year, does he belong in the top 5? Although dominance is the topic, versatility deserves some props. So far, we have a good solid 3. Rob, jerry, and eric. Its looking like max is taking 4.
  19. I think showcasing some of the vintage videos of rob and jerry are going to add a little bit more credibility to their resume. If i decide to go with Max, his videos of his days in the Army Marksmanship unit will also do the same. I get where you are coming from. But id rather get a b then get heat from the shooting community
  20. Im more so compiling the most dominant shooters in the sport. Not the innovators and pioneers. Although, I would like to do a list later on filled with those names, but im mainly putting together names of dominance in a sport.
