  1. If you are going to be using it as a carry gun I would leave it alone. Maybe just polish the internal parts that make contact (25 cent trigger job) If you are shooting factory ammo or personal defense loads i would also probably leave the factory guide rod in. Lighter sprigs are beneficial if you are loading up some lighter loads. The average/occasional shooter probably can not tell a difference between a factory and a steel guide rod.
  2. Welcome Hank! I have a LNL AP and have had 0 issues so far in my first 3,000+ rounds. I have a buddy who is looking at the same Dillon and I've had such good results with the Hornady that Im recommending him to buy the LNL. Eliminating the money factor/price difference and your experience with both machines, what was the reason for the switch to Dillon?
  3. Highly agree with double hearing protection especially when shooting indoors. If that doesn't help calling shots then eliminate the target and just shoot into the berm or backstop and just watch the sights move. Sometimes your so focused on hitting the target that you forget your guns gunna go boom and when it does you flinch or blink.
  4. Same here -> 3 grains of tightgroup and 147 grain. One other thing I highly recommend for him is a fiber optic front and adjustable rear (have 2 sets of Dawson's and love them)
  5. It all depends on how bright the lights are and if your just plinking or competition. Even with bright lights the fiber still isn't as bright as it is outdoors. To my eyes the green fiber seems to be brighter than red indoors. Plinking maybe a bright green or orange night sight would be better. Competition shooting ........well ......... who even looks at the sights ; ^ )
  6. I Searched and checked prices all over for a few months and I bought my LNL AP from Natchez around the holidays. They have the best price plus they had $35 off any order of $350 or more. Package was solid with no damaged parts, very satisfied with Natchez!
  7. 3 Grains of Tightgroup with ACME RN 145 Grain. Its a little smokey and dirty, more dirty than smokey. For the price of tighgroup i cant complain. Never had any leading issues
  8. It will reduce it but not by much, the striker spring is what really drops the weight. The zev spring kit comes with a 4lb striker spring, I had a light strike every third round with cci primers. I moved up to a 4.5lb spring and winchester primers. 8-9 thousand rounds last year and no light strikes. My trigger pull is 2lb 14 oz with the zev kit, ghost evo elite connector, and 4.5lb striker spring. I put the 4lb in for the heck of it while cleaning my gun and it was at 2lb 3 oz. So I would estimate for every .5 spring weight change you will see around 10 oz difference
  9. Everything wtturn said and a Zev 6lb trigger spring will help reduce trigger pull.
  10. Nothing wrong with that powder in 9mm. It just depends on what type of recoil you like. A faster powder like Clays, Bullseye, Tightgroup will give you a softer recoil impulse since you will be using less powder. My load is 3.0 of tightgroup with 145 coated lead and it is soft. Slower powders like WST, HP-38, CFE pistol, ect.. will require a little more powder to reach the same velocity, which means a little more recoil.
  11. Shot a bunch of 180's and 200's. I really like 200G for the softer recoil. 200G and WST was really good but had to go .7 over max with and no high pressure signs. My new safer load is 200G with 4.2g of HP-38. HP-38 is a little dirtier than WST. If you load long I would go with WST.
  12. Nice!!! Thank you JRM83, I knew the blue bullets had one but did not know about Acme
  13. Anyone find any codes or specials for Blue Bullets or Acme Bullets? I was waiting to put in some orders hoping they would have a Black Friday 10% off or more sale. I haven't had any luck finding any codes or discounts : (
  14. Nothing beats the feeling of showing up on match day with a super clean, lubed up, smooth cycling gun. I would kick myself if i had a dirty gun related issue costing me valuable seconds to resolve during a match. If i dont have time to fully clean it even a quick 10 minute wipe down and re lube makes me feel so much better. Accuracy wise i dont really notice any group size difference from the first 10 rounds on up to 500 on a stock glock barrel. I never go past 500 rounds without cleaning the barrel since i shoot coated lead. Never had a leading issue with coated lead but just like to keep it clean.
  15. Ghost Evo Elite with no wall and just under 3lbs is my favorite for competition set ups. I like the wall and nothing under 5lbs for carry guns.
  16. Good Info rowdyb, I will let the guys know at our next match.
  17. Should be 100% Legal to my knowledge, just as long as there is not any rounds in the magazine. I have done it many of times at our matches.
  18. For me it would depend on how i use the gun. Carry gun or for close quarters i would be fine with fixed sights. Competition or longer range plinking i would go with the Adjustable option. If you reload i would definitely get adjustable, you can dial that .40 down to equal 9mm recoil or full blown .40 and be able to dial the sights for your different loads. I have two sets of Dawson adjustable rears/fiber optic front and they are built like a tank. If you dropped them concrete i bet the only thing that might break would be the front fiber optic filament.
  19. Glock 34 Gen 4 with Acme 145g round nose, 3 grains of tightgroup, OAL of 1.160, stock barrel, and Winchester small pistol primes is my favorite, puts you at 129-130PF. I have been shooting this combo with 3.1 grains of tightgroup lately. Cycles the slide a little faster and puts you at 135 Power Factor.
  20. Yes it is great, i love the adrenaline rush! I started with a Beretta PX4 9mm and soon after bought a Glock 34. Only about 10-15% of the shooters around here shoot production so i'm looking at a Glock 35 in the near future.
  21. Hello everyone!! Every time i do a google search on shooting related stuff this forum always pops up. You guys are some of the most knowledgeable and down to Earth people so i figured i had to join. I have been shooting in a trap league for 5 or 6 years and in January i started to compete in IDPA and USPSA and i am hooked! Other than that outside of work you can find me hunting, fishing, camping, reloading, or shooting..............................and a few Bud Lights or Captain Morgans with root beer
