  1. Mine is still going strong. Fighting light primer strikes with the apex trigger kit right now. Other then that the barrel has been amazing.
  2. What kind of svi's do you have? I have a 9mm dvc limited and love it.
  3. Been looking at the shadow 2 for a bit. Im sure you love it
  4. Not sure if i ever introduced myself but if i didnt, hi. Im from greensboro NC and just started shooting uspsa. Started with an m&p and now have an sti dvc limited in 9mm.
  5. I seem to have the opposite problem. I shoot A's on paper and miss the crap out of the steel. LOL
  6. Been slick as butter since i stoned it. Havent had any issues and ran like a top at my first match last weekend.
  7. minuteman munitions makes a 900fps 147 grain reman load. If you buy it 1k at a time its around 10 bucks a box. From what I've shot of it, its god quality and makes minor pf. Very soft recoiling ammo. Works in my performance model with apex barrel without issue.
  8. Thanks for the info guys. I ended up using very fine ceramic sharpening stones to polish the hood where i had filed. That seems to have resolved the issue. It was a crazy day. 4 weak primer strikes which caused me to have to put the stock striker spring back in which seemed to fix the issue. Then i had a follower stick in a mag with the tti basepad.
  9. al23 the problem is that it only does this when its hot from being shot. I'm not sure the dykem etc would stand up to the heat etc at that point. I will just take a better look at the barrel next time after shooting it. I'm betting the rest will be dirty with the exception of the high spot causing the interference. I'm also going to call apex tomorrow and get their take on it. It's something I'm sure they have seen or dealt with before.
  10. Ok thanks. Didnt know if it was cause for concern. Hopefully it slacks up a hair so i can show clear on the 15th uspsa shoot lol.
  11. What would i need to stone it? Any place local that supplies that kind of stuff? Sorry ignorant about polishing metals.
  12. I checked it cold again and i think instead of the approximate 2lbs of pressure to unlock from battery is probably sitting at more like 6lbs. Im gonna clean everything and take 1 stroke off the overall length.
  13. Ok so I got my semi fit barrel in the other day. I took my time and fitted it to the pistol. Only fitting I needed to do was the overall length to get it to go into battery. I filed this portion until it would go into battery and take a finger push to get it to release from battery. Barrel was a snug fit in the slide installing the barrel but once in it moves freely. I'm not having to beat it in it just needs to be just right for it to slip in there, if that makes sense. Anyways so the m&p functioned as normal and just slightly hung up out of battery if you ride the slide forward. Most of the time it hangs then releases itself into battery. If not it takes a hair of finger to get it to go into battery. After watching the video's that was what was considered to be a good tight fit and what I was after. Well tested the barrel and function today and I was both excited and worried. The barrel shot extremely well with some new ammo I have so I was estatic about that. However, as the pistol gets hot the slide acts hung up closed. The pistol still shoots etc just fine and cycles minor pf loads but it takes all of my grip to grab the slide and rack it back. There is no unusual pressure once it frees battery it's just getting it to that point. Anyways has anyone else experienced this??? My gut says I need to take a file stroke or two maybe off the oal of the hood so it doesn't bind when it gets hot and expands fractionally. But before I did anything like removing material I wanted to check here. Please chime in if you had this info or with how much force it takes to get your barrel to drop from battery with your semi fit barrel. When the slide is disassembled and barrel installed and at battery it takes just a little finger pressure to get it drop of battery, cold....... Thanks guys!!!!!!!
  14. Is there a benefit to using a 13lb spring shooting in the 130ish power factor range?
  15. Thanks for the info guys. I may just end up grabbing some berrys 147 grains since they seem to be carried by everyone locally. Just curious here but will i need to drop down from a 16lb recoil spring to a 13 or so when i start shooting the less hot rounds?
  16. Should have said recheck. Ive only loaded rifle before and i got in the habit of dumping powder into the scale to double check it wasnt double charged and that i got the same amount of powder.....for pistol probably wouldnt matter but i was trying to make extremely consistent rifle loads. Thanks for the projectile recommendation
  17. I probably will stick with a fmj to make life easier on me. Anyone have a good fmj i could use?
  18. Luckily while i am truly a novice my father has been reloading for years so i have his knowledge and experience to lean on. I always hsve been super cautious with powder. I typically re-weigh powder before i seat the projectile just to verify i didnt double charge.
  19. So after doing some reading I have decided I'm going to start loading 147 grain minor loads for shooting. My father already has both a single stage and progressive reloaders with dies, funnels, etc for realoading. After poking around here I had settled on the bayou bullets 147 grain and titegroup powder. Was going to be using cci spp's. Looking for recommendations on OAL and how much titegroup. Just looking to make minor power factor out of my M&P Apex 5" barrel. If anyone can recommend better powder or better projectiles etc I'm completely open to suggestions. I haven't bought anything yet and plan to order projectiles tomorrow and pick up the powder and primers locally. Thanks guys!!!
  20. Thanks I will have to work on my stance. I can feel the recoil pushing back on me and me having to settle back in after the shot. I read about keeping grip pressure during dry fire in the book and it takes me to retell myself every few iterations or I'll start to slack off keeping support hand grip pressure during the dry fire drills.
  21. Not that it matters memphis, but, trust me i didnt post on brian enos to try and show off lol. Im a complete novice posting on the foremost action shooting forums. Im just trying to improve and get advice from you experienced guys.
  22. I here what your saying memphis. Im just working on very key elements like the draw, reload, and aquiring sight picture. The dryfire book is pretty awesome so far. And no worries ive seen lots of unsafe shooters at the range and steel challenge etc. I definitely wont be pushing myself past what is safe. Im very muzzle and trigger conscious with firearms. Always had that beat into me lol
  23. Thanks memphis. I will work on those for sure. I got my ben stoeger dry fire reloaded book today and started working on the drills. I feel really slow on the draw haha. My apex semi fit will be here wed and the dawson precision competition sights thurs. I will work drills all week and work on what you said. I will do another video sunday and see if i have made any improvements at all lol.
