  1. "So Do you watch alot of gladiator movies?" = What movie was that line from?
  2. There is one load method that has less fumble than "The Twins" = Its the grab -one- shell at a time method. If a 14second reload is Ok to you. I tryed very hard for way more than 100rs of practice to get -good. OK- at the "weekhand load" and I can still do it. The Twins / Load two is way more consitent than Weekhand load. In a few stages ware your moving and picking up a target durring the load = thin the Weekhand load is good to have the gun up and near the shooting postion. to save time. If your going to play thin Play Hard and learn both, & get the best equipment you can afford. Even a Old washed up Sr shooter with a low skill level like me can hit an 8 round reload under 5 seconds every now and thin
  3. If it was a pistol stage that required just one mag, I would allways have 3x what I need. I see no reason to change that for 3 gun. I have a Nordic 47 rd and a Sure fire 60 but I still keep two extra mags on me. the blaid tec is good. But Mark Otto makes a nylon one that sits the mag paralell with the belt that lays flat when a mag is not in it I can carry the second mag at my belt behind my back and not have it wip around on my hip when I run. I think you can get the Otto Made it from Tiangle aka Benny Hill
  4. If you got one with a polimer barrel = the mettal barrel with the wings in would "grind on the brass" in my opinon A range owner here uses a large cement mixer on range brass. But he gets as $$ for scrap metal as he does reloaders
  5. I will spend more on a hotel with good parking lighting to lessen the odds of a truck break-in at night. A break in would make a cheep room very costly.
  6. I got my 1050 in 2006 in about a week did you order it through Brian ? or do the rest of us have to organize a Linch Mob?
  7. If you want to walk the prize table, don't plan on leaving the range until 5 at the earliest. If you want to leave after your final shot, you should be able to leave the range by noon. Now Mark thats just plain -Meen- , but honest on a good day you can get to Air port in less that 30 minutes, driving back after dropping off a friend can take 2 hrs
  8. I did not even know untill I got home that Kurt had DQed. That reflects good on the shooters and match staff. The event did a good / great job of ballancing difficulty and speed. I made the mistake of under-evaluating my equipment readiness. And my attintion to the stage layout should have been better. A mark of good stage desine is the apperiance of simple when its not. This is a great event that makes the most out of the range limitations, I will be back next year. I remember the 1990 Sporting Clays events, that had a "Party Atomospher" The Crew in Corpus seams to be touching on that, and I like it. Jamie
  9. I had to pick up some Roofing material this week , It was over twice the cost for the same shingle that it was 10 years ago.
  10. The Key thing you said is "a developing shooter" very few first and second year shooters know how to practice. in fact very few work at it as hard as you outlined. A steel match that is set up rite has at least a few of the stages planed out to focus on a skill-set. and the shooter gets up to five runs at it. I personaly spend as much or more time training as I do in local matches. But I am working with several diffrent guns for 3 gun now. For Handgun I am just trying to hang on skills I -Used to Have- battling age and injury My advice backed up with over 20 years of shooting competion at 6 diffrent kinds of disiplins is. ( Look For The Joy ) If you go more than a few weekend with out seeing the Joy in what your spending your -Life- / time at = The loss will cost you more than monie
  11. It's not the best for rifle brass... sometimes sticks a case. I went back to Dillon lube. I didn't know that. It explains why I had 2 stuck 30-06 cases when I was using one shot. I thought I just had to keep spraying more of it on the cases. too much lube on a case will cause a dimple at the shoulder. I have not stuck a case since I stoped useing one shot and went to the Dillon Lube.
  12. REeelly I guess the next thing your going to say is -"Good Looks"- doesn't count , or ?
  13. REeelly I guess the next thing your going to say is -"Good Looks"- doesn't count , or a good personality ?
  14. I got a sale order in before the new years from another vendor $100 for 10 Pmag. I haven't heard any thing so far.
  15. I am new to bolt guns , But the JP stock is very hard to beat and it comes with a AI mag. = it came with 2 mags when I got it in 2011
  16. I load all my 223 on a 1050 now after testing loads on a bench out to 500 yards. even with sorting the brass I got very little improvement in the groups. I use a hornady powder measure on the 1050 so that helps to keep the powder consistent. I look forward to every shot past 400 yards at events. I do load my 260 long on a single stage , but if I did not have it already I could still load good rounds on the 650 by using it as a single stage setup. your going to want an ( inside outside ) case chamfer tool. you can also use it to cut out the crimp on primer pockets.
  17. Wait a year or so and read the book , its event better than the movie.
  18. I would only be required to shoot the first 2 ranges to qualify and they said the long range is rarely qualified with pistol. I think I'm heading out on Tuesday to shoot the 50 and Wednesday on the 100. Hopefully those will go smooth. Sounds like your good with the other post , but even if you do shoot aout to 100yards on a 18x24 that not a big deal at all to get 50%. Its five times at hard when you move it past 125yards though. Or it seams that way I have a 10" MGM set up at 70 yards its easy to get 50% on it
  19. I have stayed four seperate times at the camp ground in a camper. I was very happy with it. the sunrise and sunsets are fantastic. If you get up around 1 am the stars are even better. one other way is to get a "Bunk Room" in the competator houseing at about $40 a night
  20. it may not be a race , But everything competes for our time.
