  1. This has been a good thread for me as well. I have earned a lot.
  2. I had a PM9 but sold it. It is one of the few guns I wish I had kept. Oh well!
  3. I certainly am in no danger of winning anything so my opinion doesn't mean much. I am in the process of competing against myself to get better.
  4. This makes me realize how much I am lagging behind on my dry firing.
  5. It is nice to have validation. But I am still finding the adrenaline of competition and just trying to better myself good enough. Still, if I got good enough, it would be cool.
  6. I'm a newbie to all this. The rules are hard to pick up. Thanks for the explanations.
  7. 100 lbs. every 3 months is about how much I can salvage.
  8. Thanks. That sounds like a good first step. I will start studying the reloading board too.
  9. I also get a kick out of how many times people in the movies rack their slide.
  10. Thanks for the advice. I have been holding off because I really don't know that much about it yet. I am looking forward to learning though.
  11. I started counting shots in my head before I ever shot in a competition. Every time at the range I load variable round counts and try to clock them in head while shooting. Now I find myself subconsciously counting round while watching tv or movie action. It's amazing how many round some of them can take without changing mags.
  12. I have a nephew who is on an FBI swat team. He said the range where they train is also used by Seals and Deltas. The first time he saw it he said the ground looked odd. He realized that it was all brass. They don't collect it and so the ground is covered by around 2 feet of brass, everywhere.
  13. I am finding that if I grip too hard with my right hand I don't pull the trigger straight back. If I really squeeze with my left hand and let my right hand stay a little more loose then my shots are more consistent.
  14. I agree with the adage to put your money into ammo but I just can't help wanting the new one from time to time. It does take time to get the new feel and by then i a, spotting another one that looks good. I have to admit I think I have fianally settled into a couple that I really enjoy.
  15. I hope to start reloading at some point but I have a lot to learn there.
  16. The range where I shoot has been really good about collecting brass. They know me and when they sweep behind people they shove it over to my lane. They joke that my bag is heavier leaving some days than when I come in. I send to a Freedom Munitions and take advantage of their credit program. They aren't giving as much as they used to but every bit helps.
  17. Thanks to all. I have been to a couple of the Blackstone matches and they were great. The people were helpful and made me feel right at home. This is a great community! I am looking forward to all that I can learn here and have a lot to catch up on.
  18. Where is this range? I went to Tech many many years ago but still go back occasionally. It would be fun to check it out.
  19. What is the reason to shoot major power factor? Is it solely to be compared to similar caliber? i.e. 40 vs. 9?
  20. Thanks for this. It will take me awhile to digest all this. I am going to have to study up on the rules for major vs.minor.
  21. Hi! I just came across this board. I am a Newbie to competitive shooting as well as being new here so I look forward to all that I can read here and the advice that is given. I have been shooting for recreation for several years and have developed a love of nice firearms (especially pistols). I currently have a couple of CZ's, Sigs, SW41, a couple of 1911's and a couple of 2011's. I am drawn more and more to the 1911's and 2011's and hope to add to the collection. I still have much to learn though ad look forward to participating on this board.
