  1. Oh yeah I'd love to get a .50bmg and would be the best option as far as extreme long range and still having a lot of energy down range but those guns are pretty expensive although ammo is actually relatively reasonable for what it is and not hard to find oddly enough. but most ranges don't let you shoot .50bmg at least not by me though some places have special days just for it. My initial intentions aren't to compete in long range competitions at least not at first its not something that I've thought a lot about honestly, I was just looking for something that I can have some fun with at the range and on a friends property with the possibility to do some big game hunting and maybe some competitions. And though a 7stw would be a great round for what im looking for that's not what the stw means in my user name and I don't have a rifle in that chambering. The "stw" in my user name I got from a book I was reading called Shoot To Win by Chris Cheng the book was sitting next to me when I came up with the name, plus when I do my competitive shooting I "shoot to win" though that's not an easy task to accomplish and in all honesty Im really just hoping I don't get DQ'd lmao.
  2. I'm looking to get a magnum caliber bolt action rifle for long range shooting and would like opinions and choices. I'm looking right now at the savage 110BA 338 lapua since savage has a $150 mail in rebate right now and the price isn't to bad https://www.tombstonetactical.com/catalog/savage-arms/110ba-stealth-338-lap-24in-5rd-black/ or I've also been looking at the Remington 700 Long range in 300RUM which I know is a barrel burner but I'm not to worried about that https://www.tombstonetactical.com/catalog/remington/model-700-long-range-.300-remington-ultra-magnum-26-inch-barrel-matte-finish-bell-&-carlson-tactical-stock-3-round/ the price though is great at half the cost of the savage. I know savage and Remington rifles have a pretty good following and track records but don't know which one of these is better for the price. If anybody has any other rifles or calibers at around $1000(not including an optic) they would suggest for long range (1500yards) I'm open to other options thanks.
  3. Thanks I'm gonna give that a try, don't know why I didn't think of doing that before. It makes sense and will help me see what kind of difference things make. I've seen videos from Jerry Miculek about grip that says the same on grip pressure, he says just grip it tight with both hands don't worry about how much one hand is gripping than the other just hold on tight. for me its the maintaining the tight grip with both hands ive actually caught myself nearly letting my support hand come off the gun while shooting it doesn't actually come off but is a loose grip, and a part of it I think is just from how dominate my right hand is. in my day to day life my left hand is kinda just along for the ride it doesn't do much lol, do you think doing more week hand drills might also help me gain a little more support hand......umm support lol?
  4. Yeah my grip strength is definitely not an issue, I can handle hot loads of 500sw magnum one handed and its not an issue as far as hanging onto the gun. I've been shooting in USPSA production and steel challenge for the last year and didn't do to bad considering my limited experience but I feel a part of my problem is my grip on multiple levels, one is im gripping to tight with my dominant hand and too week with my support hand and two I must be anticipating the recoil because I end up with a bit of my shots ending up low. I also don't have the greatest eye sight and its hard to focus on my sights and the target but that's a whole other issue but that's why im gonna try open class next year, the dot is a little bit easier to put on the target and stay on target or at least it seems to be easier. I know a lot of my issues can be fixed with more practice but live fire practice is hard for me to be able to do where I live and was wondering if there was any certain type of practice that would help keep a good support hand grip? I can sometimes initially have a good overall grip and shoot good but then as the day goes on I seem to revert back to mainly gripping with my dominant hand that's when things start to get a little out of wack.
  5. I am very heavily right hand dominant and also have a very strong grip (I'm an auto mechanic) and have always heard people say grip harder with non dominate hand and it should help with smoother trigger control and to not dropping my shots low like I do a bit of the time. I've been trying to loosen up my right hand grip some since I grip it pretty tight and grip a little bit harder with my left but is very hard habit for me to break, is there any kind of technique or training that would help me break this habit or is it just more practice? Thanks
  6. I'm kinda new to shooting but I hear most of the time from really good shooters to shoot with both eyes open which I think I do for the most part especially on up close targets. When I have to make more accurate longer shots I either squint my non dominate eye or completely close it. having said that I'm still learning but I really believe in finding out what works best for you and for what type of shooting your doing because I think depending on the type of shooting your doing can make a big difference on how you focus on your sights and targets.
  7. Hi I saw that you where looking for a Tanfoglio stock 2 that's production legal. I have one that I am considering selling, I was running it in production but it is currently setup for carry optics but can be easily swapped back to production. I plan to sell everything I have for it including holster and mag pouches.

Here is a list of everything I have and some details on everything. The prices are what I paid for everything, the prices are there just for reference purposes on what I have in everything total.         that they dont hang up, it also does not allow last round hold open but the other

2 will hold open on the last round as normal

I no longer have the factory ambi safety
    - Patriot Defense Lightweight guide rod - $48.95
-Was required to make weight for carry optics
    - Tanfoglio xtreme firing pin block and spring - $18.45
    - Patriot Defense optimized extended firing pin - $48.95
-The best firing pin ive used in a tanfoglio
    - Henning18# lightened trigger plunger spring - $9.95
    - Patriot Defense lightened optimized trigger and sear springs - $11.90
    - Patriot Defense optimized firing pin spring - $8.95
-A couple coils of the spring have been cut for a harder primer hit
    - Wolff 6lb,8lb, 9lb recoil springs - $7.89ea
      - 6lb spring is listed for the long slide but works fine in standard length
stock II works good for steel loads for around 100PF loads
    - Wolff hammer spring kit 13lb,14lb,15lb spring - $9.00
      - some coils have been cut on springs
    - Patriot defense optimized 15.5lb, 14lb, 13lb hammer springs - $9.95ea
      - All have cut coils and have multipuls of some of them currently running a
14lb with 1.5 coils cut off and 2 shims to increase preload slightly runs great
little to no stacking and lights off winchester primers extremely reliably
    - Tanfoglio xtreme firing pin - $39.90
    - Tanfoglio xtreme titan hammer - $112.95
    - Tanfoglio xtreme medium and light firing pin springs (uncut) - $7.95ea
    - Tanfoglio xtreme medium and light hammer springs (uncut) - $10.95ea
    - Tanfoglio xtreme one piece sear - $34.90
    - Henning Conefit guide rod - $39.95
    - Cajun gunworks canik floating trigger pin - $13.00
    - Complete new EAA Roll pin kit - $19.95
    - Patriot Defense BOLO disconnectors (3) - $45.99ea
-some of these dont work bad instructions from company and also changed things
after fitting some of them and was a good fit anymore. The number one reason why i dont
have them installed now is because they reduce the amount of hammer travel in DA causing
less than reliable ignition in DA unless you use a heavy hammer spring which increases the
DA trigger pull quite a bit but the Cajun T3 disconnector is much better in DA.

I have almost all the stock parts for the gun and all i have will go with the gun, internals have been
polished almost everywhere it matters. I just checked the trigger pull over a 5 pull average in both
DA and SA. DA is 5lbs 11.5oz an SA is 2lbs 8.5oz

$2530 total spent minus shipping and tax

or about $2130 for the production legal parts including the gun is what I have spent.

I appreciate the time you put into listing what you have in this gun. I do not have any interest in the carry optics setup and probably should have put in the ad that I am only willing to pay what these have been selling for as that is what I could back out of it if I decided to sell. That being said, a stock 2 with 8 mags, Boss holster, and 4 ghost mag pouches sold for 1100 a few months ago. Another one sold for 950 shipped with 5 mags. similar work done to it in July. Another in august sold for 900 with 5 mags and similar work done to it. That being said, and I dont want to offend you, 1400 is way more than I am willing to spend. I just sold an SV I had well over $7000 in and lost over $1000 on that sale. And that is from the best gun builder on the planet.

I had already wrote everything out for somebody else that was interested in it so wasn't to hard to just copy and paste what I had written out before. I completely understand and am not offended, I gave a higher price to start (you know room for negotiation I guess I went a little high lol) but hey you never know what somebody might be willing to pay and considering the amount and time I have in the gun its always nice to get as much out of it as I can. My price was also including shipping though im not %100 sure on how much that costs but im figuring around $50 give or take. Being that your from Massachusetts don't you have a 10 round mag capacity limit? the mags I have are all 17rd standard capacity. I am open to offers on it and am totally willing to split things up if there are things you don't want
