  1. The EGW hammer and sear that's prepped by Henning is well worth the money its very crisp it shortens up the take up and the reset, though I am using the Henning flat trigger system also which has pre travel and over travel adjustment. It also lightened my trigger pull around around 1/4-3/8oz. I also didn't do any fitting to the hammer or sear I put it in the gun and it works. I'm sure if I want to get the most out of it I can do some fitting to make the already short take up and reset better, I would like the reset to be a little bit less but it is already much much better than the stock sear and titan hammer the take up to really great to start with though (maybe I'm just picky lol). The trigger pull I'm getting on my lyman gauge is an avg of about 1lb 13oz at the bottom of the trigger and around 2lbs 8oz in the middle of the trigger so if you avg those out its around 2lbs 3oz. Hope this gives some good info on the Henning kit.
  2. I'd agree with B_RAD if your looking for a stock 2 and can't find it in 9mm but can in .40 don't hesitate I know some guys that prefer the feel of .40 minor the one is a production GM.
  3. I'm still figuring that out, mine is a little odd though because I lengthend how far the slide goes back so now I have to cut all my recoil springs down so they don't bind. The one I have in my gun right now was an 8lb spring but after I cut it down the spring is now around 9 1/4lb. I think thats not enough spring though since I tried a few of my leftover 132pf minor loads and it cycled just fine. I haven't really messed with springs to much yet, the 9 1/4lb works for me now and once I find a load that I like and is making major I'll start to mess with the springs.
  4. Im not sure and dont hold me to this but I would think a somewhat safe place to start is where I started at 5.8gr of CFE. since I was pretty far off of making major with that load you probably wouldn't be to much higher than what I had but there's only one way to find out. But obviously be safe when trying to make 9mm major take it slow and check primers and brass.
  5. I picked up a pair of oakleys non rx they are the golf prizm lenses and are darker than my other glasses though the prizm portion does make up a little bit of a difference in contrast the dot is more deffined but still a little bit darker than my old ones. Now they advertise the lenses as a 30% light transmission but at work I have a tint meter for window tint and I checked what the lenses are and it said 17% I tried the lense on both sides thinking maybe the outside mirror like finish might skew the readings but where exactly the same, maybe the prizm or polarizing is making the reading inaccurate but at any rate I still need to get rx lenses but I'm thinking now of getting the trail lenses instead of the golf ones. The trail lenses are polarized and prism and since there a little less tint they might be better for me. The trail lenses also are sold as mainly improving browns and reds and isnt that the two main things that we want to improve when shooting USPSA.
  6. My barrel isn't reamed and I'm able to get 1.170-1.175 in the plunk test with the Precision Delta 124gr RN FMJ. I tried to use Zero bullets 125gr JHP but that was only able to go 1.050 give or take when I did the plunk test. I dont know what the profile of the Acme rounds are like, but thats probably why you cant load as long as I'm getting.
  7. I focus on the first target I'm going to engage, I also had thought the same thing as you, and all of last year I went back and forth between focusing on target and looking at the ground about 5-10ft in front of me and the times where faster not a ton but definitely faster and also when I focused on the target my hits where better. It does make sense since your focusing on the target and not having to focus on the ground-draw-sights-target-fire vs target-draw-sights-fire
  8. Thanks for the info. Keep us updated on those comps it would be nice to have a good direct replacement, I'd be very interested in getting one if everything works out good.
  9. That's the idea I had, I was gonna try to get a local custom gunsmith to make one using the single port factory ammo barrel with the original comp removed. I saw that they have conversion cones for 1911's http://www.egwguns.com/1911-parts/conversion-cone/ so you can take a straight threaded barrel and make it into a cone barrel and it has larger outside threads to accept a more standard size hybrid comp 11/16 x 40, other than the internal thread size difference between the 1911 and stock Tanfoglio barrel the cone is larger in diameter where it locks up. I know the comp more than likely would need some fitting to work with the slide and frame at least clearance wise.
  10. I'll make up some more loads with the magnum primers and shorter oal to see how they work.
  11. Ok that would get the HS6 pretty close to what I was getting and if I loaded it to 1.150 instead of 1.165 like you did that would probably get me to the same velocitys, but the CFE is still a bit far off. What brand of primers where you using?
  12. I've got some load data now with CFE Pistol and HS6. I got my gun from aandabooks but I don't know why but my readings are a bit different than his, I needed a bit more powder to make PF its more along the lines of what other people are saying but is a little bit less I think the HS6 wasn't much different from aandabooks but the CFE Pistol was a lot different and I made up the exact same load he did. I checked my scale to make sure it was reading properly and it was good and I checked my chrono against another chrono and had almost the same results the only differences is my temp when I chrono'd was about 30f. Here's what I found all 5 shoot averages CFE Pistol all at the same OAL 1.165, WSP primers and Precision Delta 124gr RN FMJ 5.8gr - 1131fps 140pf 6.2gr - 1201fps 148pf 6.5gr - 1254fps 155pf 6.8gr - 1301fps 161pf All the primers looked good no signs yet of over pressure, so I did a little math and decided to try and make around 172pf 7.4gr - 1391fps 172pf - primers still look good and there's no needed to go up anymore if I go down .1gr I should be right around a 170pf HS6 all at the same OAL 1.165, WSP primers, Precision Delta 124gr RN FMJ 6.9gr - 1148fps 142pf 7.3gr - 1228fps 157pf 7.7gr - 1293fps 160pf 8.0gr - 1319fps 163pf Primers still looked great so I did the same thing as before with the math and wanted to make the same 172pf so again I jumped up a little bit with the powder 8.5gr - 1387fps 172pf - and again if I drop .1gr it should be right around a 170pf primers still looked good
  13. PatriotDefense, that would be awesome there would be a lot of people that would be thankful if you could come up with something to make it work. Thank you.
  14. Yeah that sounds like a plan ? lol let us know how it works, though I'm thinking its gonna need a special cone barrel thats extended and threaded but I'm hoping thats not how it actually is.
  15. It looks promising but like kneelingatlas said there's no cone on the comp or atleast not shown so it wouldn't work on a gold team without some custom work being done. I'm hoping at some point Patriot Defense will offer this or at least be willing to talk about it. Honestly I'm surprised that a company after all the years of the gold team hasn't come out with a different compensator setup, its well known the stock comp isn't very good and in my opinion the only thing holding the gold team back from being one of the best open guns is a good comp.
  16. That new Ruger stock looks almost identical to the Bergara HMR, I'm gonna be looking some more into that Ruger Thanks Gooldylocks
  17. I just wish the Oakley's weren't so expensive but I've only heard great things about the prism lenses especially the golf version, maybe with my tax return
  18. I tested my grip strength with a hand dynamometer and my right is close to 160lbs and I was surprised by how strong my left is around 145-150lbs so grip strength isn't an issue I'd say. For me now after reading comments and hearing advice from other professional shooters a lot of them say just grip it HARD with both hands don't worry about gripping harder with one hand then the other and if you have trigger control issues then work on that but don't change your grip. And as Jake Di Vita said you need to apply it effectively, and I think that might be where I'm lacking. I was worrying to much on how hard I was gripping the gun when I should have been more focused on getting a proper grip on the gun. not that I was not trying to get a proper grip but since I was focused on strength I was loosing technique.
  19. OK thanks yeah it say made in Japan and everything looks exactly the same as the pictures on sig's website so I'm pretty sure its legit.
  20. It might be the battery was getting low. I put a new battery in it today and the dot is slightly brighter at least i think it is. Its overcast and snowing here so i cant tell for sure yet but it does look better. Any idea on what to look for to see if its a knock off? It was one a gun when I bought it. Thanks
  21. I have a pair of polarized prescription sunglasses that I'm not sure are maybe to dark. I tried today in direct sun light with the brightness turned all the way up on the sig Romeo 3 I have and the dot is visable but dim i can pick it up but not sure if i might lose it while shooting. When not in direct sun light its not bad to pick up, on the plus side the sunglasses make the dot a lot more crisp, and as far as direct sun light I'm not saying im looking directly into the sun lol. What red dots are you guys using/dot size? Thanks
  22. I'm new to open class and never shot with a red dot and was wondering what peoples preferences are on to where sunglasses or not to when shooting with a red dot? I'm sure it also depends on what optic but in general what do you prefer.
  23. Yeah I understand that, I'm just saying I have a legitimate memory issue add in the fact there have been others in my family with Alzheimer's and dementia. So maybe trying to be somewhat proactive couldn't hurt.
  24. There is history of Alzheimer's and dementia in my family so that's something I have to look out for even though I'm only thirty. I also have memory problems ever since I was a young kid, I was tested for it back then and was found to have short term memory problem as well as auditory processing thankfully the auditory processing isn't much of an issue anymore but the memory still very much is. I've never been told to take any B12 vitamin but it definitely couldn't hurt. With my memory problem I feel like it really affects my ability to remember the stages since you only have a short time to go through a walk through and try to remember everything, I've had a bit of failure to engage do to completely forgetting about a target. I was also shooting production which made it even worse cause now I'm adding in lots of reloads and trying to remember where and when I need to reload, so I'm switching to open to see if that might help that issue. I'm gonna try B12 and hope that helps. Thanks for the advice.
