  1. I had the tanfo v12 for a little while about a year or two ago and I was also having problems with nose dives and other problems with the rounds getting stuck in the mag. I had a 170mm and 140mm mbx mag and those had very similar issues. I tried all different things to try to fix the issue like squeezing the mag body, springs and followers and it made things a little better but still was having way to many issues. I tried different bullet lengths and profiles but nothing seemed to ever make a huge difference. I really wish that I could have figured out a way to make the mags more reliable because I loved the feel of the gun, the trigger was awesome with all the Henning and Patriot Defense parts. The other issue that I had with the v12 9mm was having to use a crazy amount of powder to make major and was limited to oal because of the short chamber of the tanfo. The 38 super model probably takes care of all or most of the issues that 9mm has but I wasn't willing to spend all that money on 38 super and be scrounging after matches trying to get as much of it as I could get.
  2. I'm really interested to see what a difference the popple holes make. From the picture you took the gun looks the same as mine, is it a gans gun and did you get that gun on here? I know the guy i bought my gun from had 2 matching guns. So if the holes make a noticeable difference it should do the same on mine. Did you try aa#7 when you where testing different loads?
  3. I've tried the 67 moa circle dot but i couldn't get used to it, there's just to much going on.
  4. the romeo 3 xl and the 510c are extremely close in window size. from what i can tell from this picture and first hand comparison is you might be losing a very small amount of height and the very outer corners of the glass but its such a small amount i doubt it would be noticeable in a match. plus the 6 moa dot will far out way the very small difference in window size, the dot was a lot nicer on the xl than the 510c at least to me it did.
  5. I tried a bunch of other lenses from Oakley like the prizm road and prizm ruby both worked pretty good but I ended getting the trail rx lenses and have used them pretty much this whole year and I like them. They definitely make the reds pop more and the red dot is crisper looking it helps get rid of that starburst look that dots usually have, at least for me. The other two lenses where a little dark I think, they made the dot look crisp but it didnt pop like the trail lenses did.
  6. I run stock mbx mags, they work good and for what it costs to build an sti mag with a taran base pads and grams spring and follower there isn't much of a difference in price. I would rather go with the option that is ready to go out of the box.
  7. One little slip up and the grip is gonna be red lol.
  8. My mbx worked pretty good out of the bag but a couple needed the feedlips adjusted and the follower near the top would stick a little on a couple mags and make the last few rounds nose dive. All in all though most of the mags worked great and compaired to all the issues i was having to get sti gen 1 mags to run 9mm reliably the mbx's are a much better option.
  9. The 510c works good, ive got over 10k rds on mine. It's pretty bulky though and ever since i was able to compare it to a sig romeo3xl I've been wanting to switch to the sig. Its window isnt much smaller but its a lot smaller in its overall size and the dot is a bit better than the 510c. The only reason i haven't made the switch is the 510c is a lot cheaper and has been very reliable.
  10. I was able to compare the 510c to the r3xl myself and like kitestir said there isnt much of a difference in window size other than the corners which i dont think is a big deal. The dot on the other hand looks a lot better its nice and big and bright. I also like that its overall size is a lot smaller. really the only thing that could be a negative is its durability but only time will tell on that.
  11. I've tried FO front and rear sight sights and for me it was hard to be fast and accurate. there's just to much going on to be able to focus and line up the sights quickly, ive tried red rear and green front and the other way around and neither worked good for me.
  12. That was my old gun and yes i stroked it by .250. i used stock 2 springs and they had to be cut so they didnt bind. I also dont think it made much of a difference myself.
  13. I got a chance to look at the romeo3xl 6moa today and compare it to the 510c. The window size kinda looks like its in between the 510c and DPP. The dot on the xl is much brighter than the 510c and of course the dot is a lot bigger. From first impression I really like it and think its gonna replace my 510c.
  14. I haven't gotten one yet but the gun I held had the standard texture not the aggressive texture. I feel the aggressive one would feel like the pt evo since they look similar.
  15. I put the pt evo on my open gun last year, it didnt require much fitting to my frame and it felt really good. Recently though I held a Cheely e2 and I'm seriously considering a change to the e2. The second i picked up the gun with the e2 grip it fit like a glove the contour and texture of it felt much better than the pt evo to me. The pt evo texture all be it's aggressive it feels to me like its too fine, if you get what i mean.
  16. Hopefully it'll hold up for a long time with no issues. I've got about 10k rds on my 510c and still running good and on the original battery. I'm gonna have to see if i can find one and look at it in person.
  17. I'm really thinking of switching to the r3xl from the 510c. The window looks like its not much different in size but the option for a 6moa dot is nice. The actual physical size and weight being less is also a plus to me.
  18. I've been using sport pistol since last year in 9mm and .40sw major and minor and have nothing bad to say about it. It's very similar to n320 but a lot cheaper it meters well is very consistent and clean.
  19. I know a lot of people like a 12lb spring for the x5 with standard minor pf loads. I'd try 10-12lb springs myself and see how it feels and cycles. The downside to going too light on the spring is you might have an issue with feeding and barrel lockup. What's the pf of your loads?'
  20. I shoot 9 major and dont have any issues but it seems that most top shooters use 38sc. it should be more reliable but as others have said 9maj works great as long as its tuned properly, also pressures should be a little lower with 38sc and there are more options for powder. If money isn't a concern for you deffinitly 38sc but money is always a concern lol Like Joe4d said if your really looking to shoot with a dot, carry optics is a great cheap way to shoot with a dot. Open is a lot of fun but it can also be a lot of work and can be extremely expensive.
  21. I have my trigger set at 2 - 2 1/4 lbs and that feels good to me. I like a more positive reset that I have with the higher trigger weight and knowing that hammer follow wont be an issue. I've had my trigger down around 13oz and everywhere in between and from what I've noticed is trigger weight isn't all that important its how the trigger functions that matters. The only time it makes sense to me to have a sub 1lb trigger in a handgun is for bullseye shooting.
  22. Like Demp223 i really like the Peltor Tactical 500. I added the gel cup to mine which makes it even better.
  23. I just did some testing and from what I've seen there is a 10-15 fps average difference in hot and cold chrono readings. the one set of loads i had them down around 35-40f and the other rounds where around 75f. its not a huge difference and at least I know that its not inverse temp sensitive.
  24. I found a cover for the 510c its not a perfect fit but it does fit pretty good, its made by Scopecoat and is made for the eotech EXPS 2 or 3. This is the item number SCP12HE11BK i got it on amazon.
  25. I tried to get as good of a picture as i could of the brightness and sizes of the 510c vs DPP. The DPP is just a little bit brighter but not a ton but since it is brighter it gives a little bit more of a starburst look in the picture.
