  1. I believe you can do grip mods in more places (especially the slide) and undercuts.
  2. I use a Viper, I got it from CameralandNY when they were the first to do the $179 price. For cabela's do the following: - Acquire $20 off $150 from someone (or yourself), all you need is a receipt and fill out the survey at the bottom - Go to Raise.com and buy cabela's gift cards for around 12% off - Buy Viper for approximately $155 with your awesome discounts I do this for ammo all the time, I get 9mm brass for like $0.16-17 round.
  3. Why only one? I am new to this whole sport so I don't know why someone wouldnt extend all their mags.
  4. I would also be interested in this. Something that has a slim form factor may be ideal so it will work inside a medium suitcase with clothes and misc.
  5. I am trying to decide what to do about Carry Optics in the long term. I'm using a Glock 17 MOS. I have no desire to spend $20-40 on each mag extension, so I was thinking about one of the following: - Glock OEM +2 extensions, like the ones you find on the 33 rounders. This option would probably be the cheaper of the two, I can get these for $10-12 each and I'd only need 3 of them since I already have 2. Extends my capacity to 19 rounds. - PMAG GL9 21 rounders Less aesthetic, but holds 2 more rounds than the oem extension option. Would be $12 each and I'd need to buy 5 of them. What would you do? Are there any other options you'd consider?
  6. I'm from WF, born and raised, but I was never into competitive shooting during that time. A lot of the guys from WTPS in Lubbock are going to Double Tap. It looks like a lot of fun and a really nice setup. I am going to try to make a first-Saturday match some time when I am in town to visit the parents. Hopefully I can get to do the big event next summer as well.
  7. My Viper comes in the mail today. Can't wait.

  9. I think the changes this year that removes the 10 round limit is going to increase the popularity, I am starting it next month. People are probably just now looking at which optic to buy.
  10. I live in Lubbock and I am from Wichita Falls. You gonna start a club?
  11. The Fire tablets I think are $35. $25 around Christmas time.
  12. I figured as much. Also didn't notice until now that there is an A and B zone on the head. I bet that hostage wouldn't mind getting grazed on the arm if it means you nail the guy holding a knife to their throat in the heart! lol
  13. Do the score zones change when a target is partially obscured by a no-shoot? I've seen targets that are covered almost entirely except the head and parts of the shoulders. Does the Alpha zone then move to the head or what?
  14. Being so new I didn't want to spend a ton of money, I found the Midway competition belt on sale for $15. It has been good to me so far, no complaints. I know it's not as stiff as the higher end ones but it works until I am ready to upgrade.
  15. I work for a hearing aid clinic. We sell custom hearing protection, both passive and electronic. Base cost for custom molded passive hearing protection is $300 ($150/side). If you're not willing to spend that (and up), I would suggest a pair of electronic ear muffs + a low NRR set of passive plugs. Something like Earasers or Dubs, or the high-fidelity hearos... something that has a NRR of 12 dB or less. Personally, I use Howard Leight Impact Sport + Earasers. That's 22 dB NRR plus an extra 5 dB from the plugs. It's a fantastic combination, allows me to hear everything without any pain or discomfort from gunfire. Plus the earasers have wax filters/guards that you can change out (also known as the brand 'HearClears'), which you can buy for cheap at any hearing aid clinic.
  16. I shoot 2 matches per month, which is what I consider my live fire practice. I might go shoot one other time per month if I need to test something or my wife wants to go out to shoot. Between 150-500 rounds depending on the match/practice session. Dry fire most nights for 15-30 minutes.
  17. Thanks Jesse, since posting I have seen a lot of reviews and heard opinions of others who are saying similar things. I ended up finding a deal on a Vortex Viper, so I jumped on that. Seems to be a popular choice as of late and I've never used a bad Vortex product.
  18. Glad this topic is already on the first page here... I'm curious about this as well. I really want to get into carry optics. My intention is to use the same gun that I use as my hunting sidearm so it needs to be practical for night and day hunting alike. I love Vortex, always have... their warranty and customer service is outstanding, however I really am liking the idea of the RM05G (dual illumination). Vortex doesn't offer anything with fiber optic + tritium. Can anyone speak to how well this dot does (or the dual illumination series in general) in competition?
  19. My problem is that I spend all my money on guns. Just checking in from west Texas. I am shooting USPSA Production and will be getting into Carry Optics soon enough. Also really enjoy steel challenge!
