Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. turns out the trojan is likely going to be under warranty. i will test accuracy one more time with factory 9mm and then send it in to the distributor and they will send it to STI if they cant fix it. my other gun which is a sti sentry has a schuemann barrel and am going to fit that bushing i bought to it as the current bushing has 0.005 tolerance between the slide and bushing and 0.006 tolerance between the barrel and bushing. i will take the slide & barrel and bushing to be measured on a CMM at a friends business and then ill have the bushing machined to within a combined 0.001 tolerance between the slide/bushing/barrel combined. im hoping that will shrink the grouping which is around 3 inches at 25 yards currently.
  2. my local ipsc store has a egw bushing that should exactly fit my Trojan . il check the measurements tonight again and buy the bushing tomorrow.
  3. im thinking of just getting EGW to make a custom bushing for the trojan or i just get a oversized bushing and have it fit by a gunsmith
  4. did some measurements : Slide ID is 0.701, the bushing OD is 0.696 which is a 0.005" gap. Barrel OD is 0.580 and the bushing ID is 0.6125 which is a 0.0325" gap. perhaps a new bushing is in order? also has anyone used or is using those Briley spherical bushings? ive been told they are very good at improving accuracy due to its tight tolerances. http://www.briley.com/p-52335-1911-auto-black-oxided-spherical-oversized-and-drop-in-bushings-and-rings.aspx
  5. when i press the barrel down into the slide and forward towards the muzzle to imitate lockup i can see a sliver of light between the barrel hood and breech face. i see very tiny wear marks from the bushing so i dont think its a tight bushing to barrel fit and i think the barrel feels like it moves forward and a back a tiny bit while in lockup. i tried Blue bullets, campro plated ,frontier plated and frontier match grade plated all at 25 yards on a ransom rest. i will be doing more testing in september but as far as i remember the groupings were worse then with the zeroes. the gun was purchased brand new in 2016 and i probably have 20,000 rounds through it by now.
  6. im looking at some local gunsmiths to try and find out how well they are fitting bushing barrels.
  7. my trojan was bought in 2016 and its doing about 5 inch groups at 25 yards in a ransom rest with zero 125gr JHP projectiles. im looking at replacement barrel options in the fall after the ipsc season is over
  8. ive tested with frontier 124gr plated and the match grade, also with campro plated and blue bullets ( the plated and blues are even worse then the zeroes), hornady HAP projectiles cost about 220$CAD/1000 so those are too expensive for my taste. ( this is a uspsa/IPSC pistol) , i did some measuring last night and while pushing the barrel down into the slide the barrel can move forward about 0.0030, when i push down and forward i can see a tiny sliver of light between the breech face and the barrel hood. this sti is factory brand new barrel wise ive probably put about 20-30,000 rounds thru it.
  9. im looking to improve the accuracy of my 1911 STI Trojan 9mm, i tested it on a ransom rest at 25 yards with zero 125gr HP (4gr titegroup, cci primers) and it grouped around 5 inches. i dont have the money or the patience to send it to the U.S because im in Canada and it would be a pain in the ass to do that. I was looking at the Kart xact fit ( formerly ez-fit) barrels and ive seen lots of good reviews so far. Has anyone here fitted one themselves with the tool kit they provide and what kind of accuracy improvements did you get? My STI has a W/N ramp cut so ideally if anyone has fitted a kart xact fit W/N ramped 9mm 5inch barrel i would like to hear your opinion on them. Thanks!

  11. only problem is the JEM frame rails are not oversized enough for my gunsmith....
  12. anyone know if there are any companies that sell bare forged 1911 Frames with custom serial #s as an option?
  13. cbsa officer took it off while it was inside for a " secondary inspection" as it was my first time crossing i didnt know what the proper procedure was. one of them was a leftie too... now it could be a mistake and it might be in a drawer somewhere there but i doubt it... im going to give them a week or two to " investigate" and if nothing happens ill file a theft report...
  14. Hi everyone, I have been shooting IPSC for 3 years now and went to the florida open for my first USPSA match, recently as i was crossing the border coming back in to Canada, during a "secondary inspection" my right side mag release was taken off my 1911 and i wasn't notified. I already have an investigation open but i doubt i will ever see it again. is there anyone that knows where i can get another? ive tried speed shooters and they have been waiting since october for supply. Still waiting on hearing back from the manufacturer. If anyone knows where i can buy one please let me know. Thanks! below are photos of the mag release
  15. https://www.speedshooter.com/product_detail.cfm?id=MCMC&n=Mitchell-Custom-Mag-Catch--Right-Side speed shooters has the right side mag catch for the 2011 in stock.
