  1. Good morning, Marketing....marketing.....you are right. Last summer, I shot a match under heavy rain; my LC was lubricated with Mobil 1 ; rain in the slide openings + motor oil = white goo = gun jammed tight. I had to wait for the barrel to cool down before being able to rack the slide (in the safety area of course). So, back to Break Free. A bit of folklore now if you please : when I was a young hunter, a long time ago when the earth was green, I use to work a lot and my spare time was scarce (Viet-Nam effort in the airplane industry). One evening, I undertook the task of cleaning my Winchester 30-30; no more oil...too late to go buy some, but plenty of Mazola in my Mom's kitchen though; it did the job beautifully but was a beast to remove afterwards. And - I'll hear teeth grinding - anything wrong with a field stripping, liberal spraying with M-Pro 7, let it work and blow the hell of it with compressed air, using trigger control of course ?
  2. Update : Not one but two words of caution. The ambi safety is a drop in affair, yes, but it scratched the frame. After a couple of mounting/dismounting/scratch, I checked the original one, left side only The new safety is rough from casting; the old one is considerably thinned, a bit rough with the file work but polished afterwards. So, here goes the grinder on the left side and, after some polishing of both sides, safety mounted. I had to carefully sand the frame to remove the scratch left at the first fitting.
  3. Good afternoon Gentlemen, I just received and installed the ambidextrous safeties. One word of caution though : polish the inner surface in contact with the frame on both safeties; that will avoid a nice scratch which, fortunately, does not show when safety is off.
  4. Am I glad....this thread has a beautiful timing. Saturday, two days ago, I participated to a level III. One stage was 8 poppers, weak hand only; being a right hander, I grab the pistol (left side safety only) and at each shot, the safety engaged; so it was "shoot/disengage....shoot/disengage....a PITA. Back home that very evening, I ordered an ambidextrous safety from Eric, and the parcel is already in the mail. And, I know, it is also a proper grip of the pistol problem; since It is due to a sore left thumb, it is an issue that will be cured when it will rest on the right safety. My pistol is a LC and I shoot like Memphis M, with my thumb atop the safety (Eric shoots also that way). Dan
  5. Hello, With my glasses on I know see the hole....sorry, Exactly what I had. I just picked up my pistol to compare grips. You definitely have the 2015 grips on a 2016 frame. The curved part of the 2016 grips is less pronounced. The gap alongside the back strap is still there but much less with the 2016 grips.
  6. Good morning Homewrecker07, By what I know from Tanfoglio standards, your grip is perfect. Same fitting than my new ones; we have to live with it. If your grips were not the correct set of grips, you could see a hole at the lower right corner of your first photo, and believe me, no way you could miss it; really annoying if you drop the gun in sand or if you shoot under rain.
  7. Good afternoon Gentlemen, I just received and installed the new grips from EGD : perfect fit. I compared the two cards in the plastic pouches of both sets of grips : absolutely identical, no dating or warning of any kind. So, if there is no model year on the cards and, if, like my pistol , the stamping is 2015 but is a 2016 model, we are set for some aggrievation. If you buy from a dealer, better send him an outline of the original grip or make sure he knows the differences. Idem if you buy from another colleague. The 2016 grips clearly have a different curvature along the back strap and, when you know, easy to make the difference. Dan
  8. Good morning Gentlemen, I have a LC bought in june 2015 and stamped 2015; I ordered a pair of X-treme grips in december 2016 and, upon installation, poor fit :gaps are clearly visible. I spent this week-end some time with Eric Grauffel by E-mail. It appears my frame, although stamped 2015, is indeed a 2016 model, produced end of 2015 and stamped 2015. 2016 produced grips fit 2015 frames but 2015 produced grips don't fit 2016 frames. I ordered new panels and let you know upon receipt. Dan
  9. Hi Rick, Same boat here. I just turned 69; I'm trying to stay in great shape. My Tanfo LC is set with green FO front, black serrated rear; I try red front FO and switched to green. I went to see my eyes specialist in november; I explained my sights problems and asked her to measure the length from my eye to the front post and issue a prescription accordingly, what she did. Then she said I'll have to go up and down with my head to meet the proper lens area....no way I could do that.so I left the whole thing on the ice. Last month, I was passing in front of the eye department at Cosco and, just to make sure, I explained my problem to the lady there; she asked if I had considered contact lens. I don't wear glasses except for reading so contact lenses are not my main concern. She gave me ten lens to try and solved my problem. And I only wear one on the right eye only.
