  1. I too run Limited/TacIrons and have the same issue. Hitting the target isn’t the problem, it’s seeing it in the first place. I have noticed this however, when my game is on and the lighting is right a red dot can be faster if you have both close and long range arrays since you don’t have to fool with the optic. As always, it going to depend on the matches you’ll shoot. Will you have a lot of long range, or mostly burners? (PS. I am moving to TacOps this year, so my opinion may change) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Thanks guys. I found the solution. Apparently some idiot (me) installed the matchsaver backwards. Reversed it and ran a match successfully Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Yes it is, and no I do not. I've never seen it actually fall out, but each time I've needed it the shell isn't there Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. I've only had 2 matches with a matchsaverz on my M3K, but it has yet to retain a shell for the entire stage; does anyone have any suggestions to fix the issue? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. I have a standard weight RCA whose gas key has a tendency to loosen up after a few hundred rounds. YMMV Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. https://www.facebook.com/12369...eos/238147186661895/ As a high school football coach, I am used to using video to critique a performance to find flaws missed connections and other learning areas in a performance. So I figured I might as well do the same with my shooting, one stage at a time. I figure I might as well go stage by stage from my last match and see what you guys have to say about any areas that I missed. Starting off with stage IV, my first stage of the day here are my own personal critiques. I liked the use of my foot to open the door and I think it allowed me to get the gun up slightly quicker, but I should've taking immediate use of the ledge of the window to create a more stable position instead of shooting freehand, which cost me a couple of rushed make up shots. Once kneeling the 200 yard shot was not too bad, but it is extremely obvious that I need to spend more time at longer range targets as I burn through a lot of time and ammo for a single target, however after I ran dry I felt like my Mag change from bolt lock was sufficient. Finally hitting the elusive 300 yard steel, I feel good about my transition to the shotgun, minus the single makeup shot on #2. Quadload went well, as did the spinner, but lack of concentration cost about 2 seconds on the low steel. My slug transition is terrible, as I planned to use the matchsaver for it, but when the time came it was nowhere to be found. I then keep digging by trying to reload cross body with the slugs oriented in the other direction, tube load instead of port load, and forget to chamber the new shell, only to miss the shot and proceed to make the same mistake again. Transition to pistol was slowed by a poor first grip, and i will accept the two make up shots on the 90 yard steel with the pistol, but the target transition coming off of it was real slow, even after they called hit. I should have either moved more quickly or taken the opportunity to do a speed reload while moving to the car bumper. I threw away a few shots on steel at the end, and must really work on moving my thumb off the slide release. Overall the performance in this stage was enough for a narrow stage win in the (very small) Limited division, but i think I left over a minute on the clock, mostly on the 300 yard target and poor reload management. What do you guys see that needs fixing?
  7. So after my last match I noticed a pretty blatant deficiency in my off hand shooting. I was able to hit a IPSC steel target at 500 in 1 round but took 24 to clean a rifle rack at 50 yards. I've searched online and through the search button but haven't found a dry fire program dedicated to working on free hand. Thus far my dry fire has been mostly holding on a light switch and whatnot. What has worked for y'all?
  8. So next weekend is my first 3 Gun match of the year and will also be my first one not at my home range. The posting says a rifle sling will be required for the stage, and as stated I've never shot a match with one before. I have both a Magpul M3 sling and a Troy 2 point at the house and was looking for opinions and advice. I normally will run the Magpul in single point configuration, but all my previous sling experience is with the rifle as the primary weapon, which might not be the case here. Could run the Magpul sling in a two point conversion as well, as I have a attachment point just forward of the magazine bolted onto the rail. In yalls experience is a sling match more focused on a means to carry the rifle or two sling up on a longer shot?
  9. At my local competitions I was the only one using a pump gun and the only one without a magnified optic. Well, I recently joined the rest of the 3 Gun world by upgrading from my Home Defense 870 to a Stoeger M3K, and am now looking to decide on my next project. I do not want to change anything on my general purpose AR, so I'm looking into building or buying a dedicated 3 Gun AR. I've handled but not shot the DDM4V11 Pro and wanted to see if y'all had any thoughts on it. I looked through the search feature but couldn't find anything. I'm also considering just purchasing the upper and building the lower, but the cost will essentially be the same either way. Planning on topping it with a Vortex 1-6x
  10. I don't recall the price, but I love my Harris with a Larue QD cantilevered mount (aforementioned by Big Bets) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. I've not had an issue running lights on my guns, but I've only shot local outlaw matches; so that probably doesn't mean much Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. The Jones Tactical one is ok Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Well we probably have shot together then! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. I do. My dad was a member there when I was growing up and I've been a member for maybe two years now since moving back Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Yup, on a RCBS Rockchucker. Looking to upgrade to a Dillon in the next year or so Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. I'm leaving mine as is for now, I'll shoot maybe 1000 shells total through it first to see if I can work through the quad loading as is. If not, I'll open up the loading port and polish the Magazine tube. Maybe replace the fiber optic with a HiViz Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. I picked up a Stoeger M3K Tuesday https://vimeo.com/196773795at a local pawn and gun store for a grand total of $600 out the door. Well my wife was at work and we were supposed to head to the range together sometime later this week, I just couldn't help myself and went early this morning to test the new gun. It was a little cold for Tennessee, about 35° when I first started but quickly warmed up. I was alone on the action pistol base which gave me plenty of time and space to do what I wanted. The first thing I did was run a grand total of 20 slugs through the gun at approximately 25 yards. While this is my first semi automatic shotgun, I have always heard that it is a good idea to start with some heavy loads to make sure everything is worn in properly up before moving onto some of the lighter loads like birdshot. Likewise, I have seen other information that says this is more important with a gas driven gun rather than a inertia driven system like the Stoeger, but I chose to err on the side of caution. Regardless, all 20 ran fine and landed just above the bead at 25, if just a little left of center. However it's very possible that that could've been my doing and not the gun's. Next I moved on to some 00 buckshot, again at 25 yards with the first 20 rounds simply being mad dumping as fast as possible making sure that everything runs, and then the last five rounds using the different chokes that were provided, a cylinder bore choke, they improved cylinder choke, and a modified choke. No surprise here, the modified choke was definitely the tightest of all three and will likely be the one that I run in the majority of my competitions in the next year. I then replicated the spread drills with birdshot with the same results as the previously used buckshot. Now it was time for fun, Burning through the next 150 shells of birdshot at assorted steel targets, such as a Texas star, various pop ups, and working on different loading techniques. I don't yet have my extended tube, which I will be getting a +5 from Nordic components, so I would put five in the tube and then ghost load the chamber for a total of seven shells in the gun. Not bad for a gun that is supposed to be 4+1 out of the box. The shotgun ran fantastically through this short semi-torture test, with no hiccups to speak of. I would have a grand total of 15 steel poppers set up in front of me and a EZ-8 shell caddy on my belt and so I would work as quickly as I could to knock down all of the steel before the gun ran dry. I ran this drill so many times so quickly, that the vented ribbed barrel definitely came into play, as I was getting some pretty serious Mirage coming off the gun in the cold weather. I also did several rounds with the Texas star, one of which I recorded and I am pretty proud of. One sidenote, the cuts of the receiver are little bit different then my 870, and as such it is a little bit harder to try and quad load; something I was able to do pretty successfully with my Remington. I'm not sure right now if it's just something I need to work on a little bit more or just stick to the syringe loading the tube at this time. All in all, a pretty good day at the range. Only two very small hick ups, as I was transitioning from the buckshot to birdshot I did have two shells that didn't quite have enough in there sure to fully chamber, but no further malfunctions and that just a quick push forward to lock the chamber and I was good to go. 18. Hey y'all, just thought I'd introduce myself. I've been shooting competitions off and on for maybe five years now, and had been using this forum to do research on a 3 gun shotgun and decided I had might as well join. In the past year I've shot 3 Gun, Steel Challenge, IDPA, and USPSA matches mostly due to a hectic schedule prevents me from sticking to one. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
