Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Yep, it's going to be used in IPSC Modified. That G22 was dirt cheap second hand buy with really ugly plating on it so there was nothing to loose when MiniMe wanted to experiment with it. Looks fast and shoots good...
  2. The same slide finished with ZrN coating. BTW How much there is weight difference between G17 and G22 slides?
  3. Here is now a classic video of me doing 10 round mag test runs with Saiga-12. 1.1s run. PJ's Saiga video I have been having too much trouble with that gun lately so maybe it is time to shoot in standard division next year...
  4. I had a pleasure to shoot with Carl and Jason for both rifle and shotgun events. Jason is GM in pistol but quite new to shotgun and rifle. Carl did show some fancy reloading with his shotgun. It dropped some jaws. He is smooth. The Finnish European Championships gold medal team was at the shotgun match so the competition was at very, very high level. Also top Russian standard shooters showed up. The pistol match was Nordic Championships so the top shooters in standard from Finland, Norway and Sweden were there so every point was very hard to earn. Tournament Results: http://ssgpractical.fi/readarticle.php?article_id=57 Pistol Match Results: http://ssgpractical.fi/readarticle.php?article_id=56 Carl, Jason and Patrick also enrolled as US Standard Team and finished 5th in team results for pistol. 5. Here's couple of pics from a G22 slide with ZrN coating. http://www.toiminta-ampujat.fi/picture_lib...ut/glock_05.jpg http://www.toiminta-ampujat.fi/picture_lib...ut/glock_03.jpg And a few AR15 carriers with CrN. http://www.toiminta-ampujat.fi/picture_lib...carriers_01.jpg
  6. S&B has also Practical Sport line of birdshot and slugs which are intended specially for our game. They are shorter than regular ammo just about 53mm. Birdshot is with 3mm shot and 32g load and the slugs are 32g. Your best bet would be using these if X-2 can handle the short ones. I needed to modify my Gold to get it working with these. I wouldn't use 24g S&B load in a match (not even sure about if it meets the PF factor) although S&B's Extra will cycle your X-2. Winchester Ranger is also a short cartridge (56mm) and it is available. Couple of old pics here: From left: Buffalo Slug 63.5 mm RIO Royal Slug 59.5 mm S&B Special Sport 58.5 mm Mirage Slug 58.0 mm Geco Competition Slug 57.0 mm PJ SK Yyper-Taktikaal 52.0 mm
  7. At least the Tournament's Handgun match is very close to sold out with only few slots reserved for Tournament shooters still available. If you want to come hurry up! You can register to Handgun match directly from: http://fi.ipsccalendar.org/matchDetails.php?id=7
  8. Separately. Correct. The sixth place shooter would not get the 100% he will only carry the points/percentage which he actually got from the component match to Tournament aggregate.
  9. I just realized that you guys might not have seen the official information about available Tournament divisions. So I'll post it here too. So in the Standard Division you must shoot semiauto standard rifle. You can choose to shoot either standard pump or semiauto for shotgun and for pistol you can shoot standard or production. The revolver is there but it probably won't make it to Tournament (less than 10 shooters).
  10. OK, Tommi asked me to try to clear some things now. So here goes... First, the changing of rifle PF's or scoring has absolutely nothing to do with the Finnish Tournamet. There won't be any changes to scoring or to PF's. Those people in the Village are discussing things which might change at the earliest in 2008. So please don't confuse people with this in this topic. Trapr: The Norwegian Rifle Championships is in September and it is stand alone rifle match of 12 stages. It will be a good match too. Kurt has some wrong facts here. There is no manual rifle division in this Tournament in any case. And also note that if there are less than 10 shooters in any Division it is not recognized in Tournament (Kurt's Revolver example would fall in to this). People can still shoot the component matches with these equipment for Nordic/Finnish titles if they want but they won't be scored to Tournament aggregate if the division doesn't meet Level III criteria. Now if we keep the Standard Tournament as an example here. Think about it as the way to find who is the best shooter with iron sights. If you force some talented people out of their 'own' iron sighted divisions (pump-shotgun, production pistol, revolver) and make them use a platform they are not so familiar with (so to shoot in standard/limited) then you really don't find out who is absolutely the BEST 3-Gun Shooter with Iron Sights. So this is a different approach than for example in US Multigun Nationals but people do things differently around the globe. Competition for titles will be hard and because of all the combinations nothing is over before the last shot in the last match is fired. Certainly it doesn't make much sense to count the points up like six months before the first Tournament bullets even fly. When you shoot total of 42 stages there won't be easy way out. You need to earn all the points the hard way.
  11. All matches are pretty good but safe pick would probably the one that is recognized for Nordic Championship in 2005. Best shooters from Nordic countries should be there then but I actually don't know where it is held next. PJ
  12. This year Nordic Rifle Championships are held in July 10-11 at Oulu Finland. Rangemasters (the club who is organizing it) always puts up a good match. Their website is http://www.rangemasters.fi . I didn't find English link for stages though but here they are in Finnish (descriptions in pdf's are in English so don't worry) http://www.rangemasters.fi/CHAMP/champsuomi/staget.htm Bringing in rifle and ammo shouldn't be any big deal.
  13. Thanks Neal. Loading slugs seems to be lot of work. I may get to it if I find enough time. Better shoot factory stuff until then. PJ
  14. Now that you mentioned slug's length I remember that it made some issue with my friends gun. He could get only nine S&B's slugs in the mag tube instead of usual ten. PJ
  15. That factory has not been known for quality. They make cheap stuff and if it works for you use it. Wolf buckshot is also made by them and it is the worst buckshot I have ever used. Other cheap slug that falls between low recoil and regular is Sellier & Bellot Special. They also sell less than $2/box and many people have had good results with them. http://www.natchezss.com has those slugs on sale now. In my experience these are better than Wolf/Shoenebeck. PJ
