  1. I'm running the CGW 11# in my shadow 2. I like it just fine. Curious as to why you need to go up to 13#? Not ejecting far enough? Rowdyb, what weight springs are you "back to"? What didn't you like about the ones you tried?
  2. Will the tape on one lens help deter my eyes propensity to shift to a target focus? because while the sights are blurred the target is clear with both eyes open, so I've caught myself doing this. I have also found that I default to shooting with both eyes open, however I also noticed that while my dominant eye is dominant enough to control the act of aiming accurately my overall sight picture is very blurred. I often find myself on a stage starting my run focusing on the sights only to switch to a target focus. I guess it could be old range habits, like checking for my hit (would think not though). I dabbled in squinting my weak eye but that has not helped and only resulted in me squinting both eyes. I know it all comes with training and time but I'm interested to hear from all you guys with masterful hindsight. Thanks!
  3. Ok. Like I said I was curious. One thing I tried at about 5 yards in live fire was matching the dry fire speed on my draw. If for no other reason then to help gain confidence that I can control and fire that quickly in live fire. In that respect it helps but my accuracy was inconsistent, though I did get as low as .9. I never missed the target, but borderline Charlie's at 5 yards mean I'm pushing the ragged edge of seeing the sights well enough to be accurate (which also means I wouldn't be drawing and firing that quickly in a match except for maybe on the classifier "can you count". I'm curious to see if incorporating this technique will help me nail 1 second draws in live fire with increased accuracy. Thanks again!
  4. Great! Thanks. Out of curiosity, Since you posted this over a month and a half ago... are you consistently hitting a .7 draw now?
  5. Thanks! I get that by telling yourself to take the "listening" out of your reaction time is what helped the most. I guess it just seems that in order to achieve outside of the dry fire setting where you are pressing the button I was curious if you use a "trigger" for your subconscious awareness to kick in. A way to add it to your "make ready" preparation if you will. In concept it speaks to the analyst in us that want to know how to remove the brain batter from making us think too much. Going off the B in Beep is great in theory but how do you do it... from a conceptually view I think this helps explain one way to actually do it. There are a multitude of ways people learn things and I personally think your explanation helps to illustrate a way to learn a faster draw differently than what I have heard to date. Thanks again for posting and responding.
  6. Thanks for posting. My dry fire results thus far are similar to where yours were as I have been stuck at 1 for some time. I've read and been told directly about listening for the B in Beep before, and have had a hard time applying that. I like how you break this down and describe the disconnect from the brain... make it more muscle memory. That speaks to me differently and more clearly on how to react "faster" to the beep. I'm definitely going to try this tonight. Questions: Do you repeat a particular phrase while making ready for a particular stage that gets you into the right "frame of mind" to turn this switch on come match time? Or do you feel that after enough rep's it becomes second nature and you don't need to? Last question, does this help in regards to not jumping the buzzer? After learning about reacting to the B in Beep it caused me to be so on edge that I started anticipating the beep and jumping the beep. Thanks again!
  7. That's great news. Thanks for doing the leg work and posting Troy's reply Rowdy.
  8. For all the research and going to the lengths your going to get a great competition ready gun... you will likely benefit from reloading a good deal. I get it is not for everyone but my two cents is if you are going to get really serious about shooting competitively it pays off quickly. If you plan on mainly using this gun, it will pay off in that you can work up a load that you know will work consistently. You yourself said even Federal doesn't always use Federal primers. Plus... it's fun. All that aside, you are getting a great gun and platform no matter which trigger you end up with. Enjoy it!
  9. Thanks! It was bugging me but not enough to consult Dr Google or "the manual"
  10. Forgot to mention... the "needle like pick" is what I found easiest to use for moving that little spring back into position.
  11. I you tubed it and found one video that helped. It's fairly easy with a punch and thin needle like pick. The trickiest part is a spring (can't remember the name of that spring) that is resting on the safety. You need to make sure to raise that back to where it will be resting on your new/extended safety when installing it.
  12. Are you sure it is the beaver tail digging in and not the safety as the slide cycles to the rear? If you are holding thumb high like a 1911 but your not on the safety my guess is that the safety is getting you. I don't see the beaver tail doing that to you unless you have very soft hands (not trying to be mean). Even then you would have to be squeezing hard but still getting a lot of muzzle flip for a smooth surface to leave that kind of blister... at least that's my guess.
  13. Now that it's legal... the question for me now is when to switch? A couple major matches in June for me. Rather not switch right before, but I'd love to be running the S2 comfortably by nationals. Oh well, there are worse problems to have. Happy day S2 owners, happy day!
  14. Makes sense. I also went to the 11 recoil. I put the CGW 11.5 main spring in though.
  15. Same TRS. I'm not sure about factory weight on main but I think it is 13, but may be incorrect... that is what came in mine but it was with CZC first. Factory recoil spring is 16... again, Not entirely sure but that is my understanding.
  16. I agree completely... but it doesn't change the fact that a form needs to be submitted. Perhaps CZ USA isn't aware they could have submitted based on numbers OCONUS.
  17. It's my understanding that it is referring to 2000 in the US. CZ USA also needs to submit the form to USPSA in order for the S2 to be added to the approved gun list and it sounds like that hasn't been done yet.
  18. +1... great post Rowdyb I was just talking to a fellow CZ shooter about how we read a while back that they added extra materials and manpower to ramp up output. Yeah... annoying oversight is a nice way to put it.
  19. ... that is something I'm not willing to do. L10 is not going to happen. I'm competitive, I'd rather finish X out of 20 in production with the S2 in the safe, than 1 of 1 in L10. At least it makes you nauseous though... ?
  20. Would certainly be nice to know if we are getting close. Either way they are screwing the pooch on the entire USA roll out. Big business fail from CZ in my opinion... for how long it took to show up in the states they should have made sure before scheduling the first import that they had 2000 targeted for shipment. it was built specifically for competition guys... c'mon!
  21. Nope... and I'm further annoyed recently seeing the Sig X5 320 just made the list. How are we still shy of hitting 2k??? Come on CZ!
  22. I can second that from my limited experience as well. I did just swap out the sights on my shadow 2 so we'll see if that helps me any. I personally didn't like the aggressive slant on the sides of the rear angling up to center. I switched to a less aggressive sight that I got from CZ custom and also put a Dawson on the front.
  23. My shadow black was like that after break in. My accu shadow was extremely tight at first and even after about 10k through it now it is still very tight. My shadow 2 already has more "wobble/play" than my accu shadow and I'm curious to find out after I start getting more rounds through it how much more "play" I'll find. This is just a guess but I'm wondering if as the poly coat wears on the rails if that contributes to what you're seeing clw42???
  24. Thanks for the responses guys. I've only switched guns once since starting USPSA shooting last year and that was from an m&p pro to my CZ. I felt like the move to the CZ didn't really take that long but it also coincided with my decision to actually try to get good at this game and train and practice with a purpose, which also saw me increasing my shooting to about 2k rounds through the gun a month. When I first shot my shadow 2 I ran it in a nonsanctioned match and had a similar finish but definitely didn't feel as comfortable with it as my shadow 1. I guess that will come in time...
  25. How long does it take to switch guns for you guys? I've been told "4 months" by someone whom I respect their opinion. For me I think it's very personal and also somewhat platform dependent. Yes, I'm speaking of switching from a Shadow 1 to a Shadow 2... so to be clear I'm not talking about moving from revo to an open gun or a 1911 to a CZ. Basically, I'm really trying to decide if I want to switch prior to my first major match, starting in June for me as well. I've thrown some boom booms down the pipe while fine tuning the "limited soon to be production gun", enough to know I do like it. But not sure I want to switch now... so do I leave it in the safe until after area 3? Or break it out and hope a couple thousand rounds is enough to be comfortable with it by June? Decisions decisions...
