Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. So, some updates. Gun went back to Walther. Impressive turn around, they got it back to me in within a week! Changed the barrel and bent extractor but nothing for the mag/magwell fitting issue. So I called in to ask. The service guy said that the engineering in Germany is aware of the issue. It's a manufacturing issue and they are looking on how to solve it... so my updated plastic guides are back in...
  2. No, the current spring worked fine when shooting Federal syntech. Did you change it?
  3. So, little update. Yes, the new guides fixed the lineup issue. However, there was definitely more going on. I ended up sending it back to walther last week. I let you know what's the diagnosis and what they fix...
  4. Yes I believe I did, but I need few more days to be sure. I had to do a little fitting out of the first set. Mag aligns perfectly. I left enough play they can go in and out easily. Shot 250 rds at practice without any issue so I took it to shoot a sanctioned IDPA match this past weekend. The gun ran perfectly well. I have been traveling since so I have not taken the gun down to clean and inspect it, but I will and post an update once I'm back home. So prior to inspection, i think the functionality issue is solved.
  5. Thank you for the info. I haven't shot the gun again and still have not send it to walther. I have a big match this weekend, so I ended up redrawing the plastic guides (thicker) and I'm having them printed. I should have them tomorrow. That should solve the wiggle problem...
  6. The ammo has nothing to do with it, nor does the guide rod or recoil springspring. And I think I am getting less FTE as the gun is literally getting "break-in". I think they can solve the issue easily by replacing the plastic guide that are inside the mag well with thicker ones. I just won't accept that the gun is getting damage after only 1000 rds... I will post what response I get from Walther.
  7. I measured the mag from my Q5 and from Q5 SF with a micrometer. There are exactly the same. I have the same interference with all the mags I have.
  8. I just uploaded the video and some pics on youtube. Sorry, it's a bit long. Let me know if anyone has the same issue.
  9. Hi everyone, sorry in advance, I'm probably going to bum everybody. the failure to extract has nothing to do with the recoil spring or guide rod. I have had this issue randomly since I got the gun about a month ago. I thought it just needed a break-in period. Now, after about 1200 rds, I still have the problem and more. What I found is that the magazine is interfering with the slide. The magazine well is oversized I think. It allow too much clearance. On mine, the mag can move about 2.5/3mm laterally. It's huge! On the polymer Q5, it's only 1mm max. My slide already has witness marks. I talked to Walther today, I'm shipping mine to them tomorrow. I don't really how they can fix it, unless it's those plastic guides that are not thick enough. I made a video of the issue, I will post the link as soon ad it's uploaded tonight.
  10. The SF has a take down lever that has a little knob that come engage into the guide rod "dimple" when you lock it. If you use an aftermarket rod without that dimple, you cannot completely lock the lever into proper position since the little knob has nowhere to fit... I'll post a couple pics later
  11. There's about 20 gram difference (lighter) between the rod I have in the poly and the factory in the SF. I think that's enough to change the balance of the gun a little bit. If it was only a couple grams ok, but 20 is quite a bit... just my thoughts...
  12. I believe they're mostly the same parts. The only difference I noticed on the 1st take down is what I would called the "housing" where the sear is located. That's a bit different, otherwise everything seem the same. I put the same spring than the one I have in My q5 poly and did some polishing. Now both guns are very similar. I think the sf just need some rds through it to cactch up on the smoothness...
  13. I would be careful replacing the guide rod. The factory one in the SF is very heavy compare to the aftermarket one that I have in the polymer q5. If you find one with the correct weight, then yes, you just have to drill a little dimple in the back.
