  1. Funny thing. The NROI letter I got said I am supposed to use the January 2004 Handgun Edtion rules. But at the top of the test is says to use the 2008 rulebook. I will use the 2008 rulebook.
  2. How durable are these guns. Does anyone have one that has held up > 1.5 years?
  3. I have not seen these videos but I do have all the Matt Burkett videos and have the book from Brian Enos. I really like the burner series tapes from the following site. They are expensive but worth it because they cover every aspect of shooting. http://www.jerrybarnhart.com/
  4. Ran this is 6.72 seconds in limited, 58 points = 8.63 hf. I believe this is a 73%
  5. I would like to replace my STI Recoil master in the STI .40 cal Edge but I have a few questions. 1, I really like the way the gun handles and not wanting to change anything a lot what type of guide rod would you recommend steel or tungsten? 2. Does replacing the Recoil master mean that once it is replaced a special type of plug in required. 3. Do people normally use a plastic doughnut on the guide rod of these guns.
  6. After shooting a classifier today on the next stage I dqed because I broke the 180. My bad. Does the classifier score get scored as a zero and submitted. Does the classifier score not get submitted and counted as not shooting the classifier or does the classifier score get used? What rules. Page numbers please.,applies to this situation?
  7. If a small rifle primer is substititued for a small pistol primer does the powder charge need to be changed? By How much?
  8. Thanks...I ordered both 12.5# and 14# to try. I just purchased an STI Edge and heard that most people replace their RM. Do they fail frequently? How do I know if it a heavy or light? If it fails frequently what breaks in it? If I replace it with a Tungeston guide rod with a standard recoil spring does Sprinco have a replacement for it but there seems to be four different models. Which one do I order?
  9. Actually, I haven't seen anything on why not to make major with universal. I've since loaded up 170pf loads with universal, titegroup, and powerpistol. The Universal loads at 4.7 grains were virtually indistinguishable from the titegroup loads in any qualitative sense and 3/10ths under the starting load of 5.0 grains that Hodgson publishes. The load that blew up was only 0.12 grains over hodgson's published max. Of course the Bear Creeks are not exactly equivalent to the XTP hodgson published data for. I believe you mean Clays not Universal Clays. Clays has a faster burn rate than Universal Clays. Search the web site for other references guys !
  10. I believe you meant 1.170 to 1.2 for Major Limited/L-10 loads not 1.7 to 1.2 range.
  11. He said at the start of the post he only want Glock Loads. OAL 1.135 is about max for this. 1.190 rounds will not fit in the mag.
  12. 180gr master blaster , WSP, 1.135 OAL, VVN320 4.0 gr from a Jarvis Barrel in a G35, Velocity 916 fps. Just makes major.
  13. Even with a dye marker? Do barrels from the same manufacture general have tolerances this erratic? I have got myself into discussion similar to this before to find out the manufacturing standards are sometimes not very tight. One person would have a good experience with a product with the right dimensions while the other would be very close to the minimum tolerance and have a bad experience. One person would claim the other persons information was wrong while the other would claim his info was right. Turns out they were both right but the manufacturing tolerances were at fault. If this is the case then my apologies for what I perceived as incorrect information from some forum members.
  14. Is this Bullet out of round? Get someone in your shooting club to loan you a few Mntanna Golds. I am pretty sure if this is the problem I would have seen it since this is all I use. Have you cleaned your seating die out? If Montanna gold exhibit the same problem them I totally agree with HSMITH. If your shooting in a match its important to chamber check all of your bullets to prevent this happending in a match. Use this type of bullet for target practice. Most IPSC shooter load long because longer rounds usually will feed more relibabibly. Assuming of course that a barrel does not to be throated to do so. I load long for my Para 16-40 and have almost never had a misfeed. But it will shoot loads in which the OAL is 1.135, my Glock Load. If you find a length that works well leave it be.
  15. You never answered Dave_c or Hsmith question about the bullets hitting the rifling. Do any of the rounds you load hit the rifling. Do this with the BARREL REMOVED FROM THE GUN. Drop a factory round into the barrel. Note where the primer end of the brass is relative to the barrel. Using your reloader make one round with a berry bullet. Measure it's dimensions and write it down. Drop it in the chamber of you barrel that you have taken out of the gun. If the pimer end of the brass is in the same position as the factory round then load fifty rounds with the Bear Creek bullets. Measure the lenght of every one with a Caliper. Do the dimensons vary. If so something is out of wack with your reloading. Are the pimers always fully seating. Is somthing loose on you press that is causing erratic reloading or the bullet to load off center. If you don't polish your brass then it can leave some crud on the lip that causes it to chamber somtimes. If you have a tight throat and you are reloading factory rounds and the bullets are are manufactured to the exact same dimensions and you are loading all of then the same length every time then they cannot mysteriouly not chamber somtimes due to a tight throat.
  16. If reference to shooting factory rounds it may do the nose dive thing but when the bullet does feed does the gun slide fail to go into battery? Just for fun I got my Para 16-40, with a UNPRIMMED AND UNCHAGED ROUND, put it in the magazine and pulled the magazine out slightly, simulating a weak mag spring, the primmed end of the round failed to go up under the extractor and also failed to chamber because the slide was binding on the bullet. Have you dropped and damaged or replace any part on your magazines? Trying changing to another magazine, magazine follower or magazine spring.
  17. Must have been that killer ramp polish that fixed the problem... Actually it was a very mild polish job to see if it would make an improvement. The extractor plunger spring on the PXT is very strong. Too strong I'd say but I'm no "Para Expert". I will try and post a pic of 1212's bullets with a ring around them. I'd say it's not his crimp as I run a rediculous amount of crimp and it did the same thing with my loads (same specs but crimp). The thoat diameter is a bit snug for the Bear Creek Moly's loaded at .180-.185. Basically, on the rounds that bind, it scrapes the moly coat of the bullet. It this is the case then by all mean decrease the Overall Length. I use 1.175 in my Para 16-40. The breech face on this particular pistol was pretty rough with deep tooling marks too. When are major manuf. going to start hard chroming their pieces so the finish doesn't wear off in an afternoon? I guess that's for another thread. The crimp not being enough would cause the bullet to not seat all of the way or possible just be snug going in. If the bullet is contacting the rifling then you would get a ring and the bullet would also not seat. I load with Montanna Gold Flat Point. These bullets should be wider at the nose of the bullet than other non flat points bullets. What the diamter of the Bear Creek bullets. What shape is the Bear Creek bullets? How many rounds have been put through it.? It could be a breaking in issue. My Para 16-40 extractor PXT tension measures about two pounds as measured with a trigger guage. If yours is greater that could be the problem with the extractor spring or its binding? Is so have you taken it apart to see what is binding.
  18. Sorry everyone did not mean to be so snooty. My aplogies. Im not Para expert but I have worked on my Para 16-40 Limited with PXT enough to know lots of things about it and I have been in a discussion like this before on the same topic. I some day hope to be an expert. Even a Glock 35 barrel with take a long round but the long round will not fit in the magazine. For a discusson on why .40 cal pistol are loaded long see: http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?...c=31420&hl=
  19. I had the exact same problem when I got my new PXT. Polish the extractor and don't load any longer tha 1.150. It worked for my 1640 PXT. The chamber in my PXT is shorter than the chamber in my older 1640 limited. Steel1212, I think you need to look for information elsewhere as these two Dumba's don't now what there talking about. They don't know a PXT from a hole in the wall. I have a Para 16-40 limited PXT. Pxt in the type of extractor on the gun not the type of Gun. These Bozo don't know the difference. I believe there trying to sell you somthing. When the first Dumba told you to get a new slide that should have tipped you off. I guess that I am the second of the Dumba's or Bozos that 45 Gunner is referring to. For 45 Gunner's information, I have two Para 1640 Limiteds. One is the older standard extractor and the other is the new PXT extractor model. I will be shooting one of the two at the USPSA National Championship in June. The other will serve as my back up gun. 45 Gunner, will I see you at the USPSA Nationals? Steel1212, If you would like more information, I will be happy to assist you. Other that myself, Hsmith, is the only one giving this person any good advise. I also have the new Para 16-40 Limited PXT it will chamber up to 1.2" Unless Para suddenly started making barrels with different chamber sizes then you information is completly wrong. Don't be telling people who don't know any better that they need to do work on the chamber length to take a longer length when the barrel comes from the factory that will already do that. No Im not going to the Nationals. Good luck at the Nationals. Stick to what you good at.(Shooting) You may have good intensions but if I were you I would not be giving advise on this forum. If a person has a new Para Pistol I suggest that they get on the www.1911.org and go to the Para section and post a question to George Wedge. The solution to fixing a new pistol is to send it back to the factory and not start having Gunsmiths work on.
  20. What model is you pistol? Is it a micro compact?
  21. I had the exact same problem when I got my new PXT. Polish the extractor and don't load any longer tha 1.150. It worked for my 1640 PXT. 22. My AET shoots plated fine so long as they are sized correctly, which is .402" Yeah, I bet mine would too, but I can't find any that are sized that way. It's not worth it to me to ask Berry's to do it. Too risky. I'll just continue to shoot the Montana Gold JHPs in 40 cal and save the Berry's for 9mm and 45acp. For what it's worth, I am aware of quite a few people shooting the MG bullets and I've never heard anything bad about their performance. You mean they must be a little oversized? The MG bullets are .400 on the money? Loaded at the mouth they are .420 with Winchester brass..
  23. My para 16-40 will take rounds up to 1.23 and most 1911 .40 cal will. Look like you using reloads that are not crimped correctly at the mouth of the bullet or you have bulge in you brass at the base. Do you reload Glock rounds frequently? What is the case dimension where the bullet meets the brass? Do you chamber check or use a case gauge on your rounds before shooting them? Does your pistol shoot factory rounds with no problem?
  24. What about the Scheumann AET barrel will make a bullet Keyhole?
