  1. I went with the Ghost pouches, but do have one DAA Race Master pouch (the aluminum one) because I wanted to be able to adjust the outward cant of the pouch.
  2. This, except I run all my .40 through the Lee FCD on a separate press before I load them. I also had a "pusher" made out of a bolt and a .40 cartridge (and liberal amounts of JB Weld) that slides into the shell holder on that same separate press.
  3. There's a small lip on the inside of the front side at the base of the XDm mags that needs to be ground down/removed.
  4. Good for you Andy! I'm in a similar position as you, but with no new blaster as the carrot. Good luck!!!
  5. I have a pair of the Boombah Hellcat's and like them. However, they are not waterproof.
  6. For .40 minor, I used to run 180gr or 200 gr at like 3.4-3.6 gr of WST. Since gone to major.
  7. Been seeing this error (and similar) over the last few days.... An error occurred (500 Error) We're sorry, but a temporary technical error has occurred which means we cannot display this site right now. 8. I had the opposite experience. I wore a brand new pair of Hellcats to a Level II match. Was at the match from 7a - 5p, first time wearing the shoes, and feet were fine at the end of the day. But the range had a mixture of grass and sandy soil bays...so maybe that made the difference?
  9. If I were to install a lockout die, this would be my config as well.
  10. When I shot Xtreme in my .40, I used their 200 gr RNFP. Loaded them to 1.135" and pushed them with 4.3 gr of WST, which got me 172-ish PF. No pressure problems that I could see. Would assume that if you're only looking for 125 PF that you would likely be safe as well.
  11. Maybe separating by caliber --- 9 vs 40 vs 45 vs 38 vs etc. ?
  12. I run the Dawson extensions as well. While I can load to 20, I typically only load 18. At 20, it compresses my mag springs to the point where I get FTF on the last round or 2 due to a weakened/compressed spring. Swap in a new spring and I'm good to go.
  13. 9 or 40? I run an XDm 40 with extended basepads that will allow me to load to 20, possibly 21. However, when I do load to 20, I find that I can have a couple of issues: * wrecks my mag spring * mag doesn't fully seat if slide is closed (due to spring compression issues) So -- what happens if you only load to 18 or 19? Any issues? Or even 10 rounds? Any issues? I suspect that the mag may be too full, which isn't allowing the mag catch to be fully engaged. Recoil then kicks the mag out.
  14. Have you called SA? 800-680-6866 I haven't noticed any pitting on either of my match grade barrels (one 5.25" comp gun and one 3.8" EDC gun).
  15. Have only ever shot 200 gr. out of my .40's. Was using Xtreme 200 gr RNFP with 4.3 gr of WST @ 1.135", which made 172ish PF. I'm in the process of switching to 200gr Blues and dropping the powder down a little. Preliminary testing shows the Blues to be faster (~ 50 fps on avg) than the Xtreme with the same powder charge, which equates to about another 5-7 on the PF scale. Wanting to settle in to the 170PF area....starting with 4.0 gr of WST and working up. My current gun also appears to like Blues better....little better accuracy and no keyholing.
  16. This video is awesome! Thanks for taking the time to explain and document the essentials of grip strength and technique!
  17. Both. I too wear gloves while loading. However, at matches I don't while loading mags, and experienced that plated are better than coated in that respect. Also, after testing coated (Blues) at the range this past weekend, there was a great deal of soot deposited on the end of my gun. Not sure if it's entirely from the coated or not, but the gun was definitely dirtier after this range session than others. Just my observations.
  18. Was able to make it out to the range last weekend to do some testing: * 200 gr Xtreme's avg 850 fps (10 shot sample). Avg PF 170.3. Noticed some suspected tumbling out of the rest of the 100-round group I shot * 165 gr WWB avg 1050 fps (10 shot sample). Avg PF 173.6. No indication of tumbling out of the rest of the 100-round group I shot * 200 gr Blue Bullets avg 900 fps (10 shot sample). Avg PF 180.3. No indication of tumbling out of the rest of the 100-round group I shot Blues and Xtreme's were loaded with the same powder charge (4.3 gr WST) and set to the same OAL (1.140"). I didn't notice any signs of over pressure with the Blues (was a little concerned since the Blue bullet profile is significantly longer than the Xtreme...so case space became worrying). Next test will be to increase the powder charge behind the Xtreme's to get velocity up to 900-ish FPS to see if the tumbling goes away. Also, I want to back the Blues down to 850-ish FPS to see if I can induce tumbling. My personal preference would be to stick with plated because they're cleaner to load and shoot. But, it does seem like the gun liked the Blues the best in terms of accuracy. Are there any coated bullets that are "cleaner" than others?
  19. If they last until then... Just filed chapter 11.
  20. I've only ever shot the 200 gr Xtreme's out of this particular XDm. I had previously used moly-coated bullets in a different gun, but a combination of either size (.401) or nose profile prevented me from using the moly's in this particular XDm. I switched to plated, .400 vs .401, and was able to run without feeding issues. I was overcrimping (crimp was .419) and when I pulled bullets, could definitely see a crimp ring. I've now set the crimp as light as I can (.421) while still passing the plunk/spin test. Bullets crimped at .421 show no crimp marks and there's no bullet setback....so crimp now seems to be perfect. Barrel is not leaded up (only shot plated through it) and there's probably 1500-2000 rounds through it....so it shouldn't be wore out (anything's possible I guess). I've read that plated bullets are more susceptible to tumbling. I know others who use this same bullet through their guns (not XDm) with no issues...so I'm guessing the gun just doesn't like the bullet? Want to stay away from coated if possible (personal preference)...but I do have a sample pack of 200 gr Blues that I'm going to load up and see what they do as well.
  21. Anyone pushing 200 gr .40 plated bullets (Xtreme) through their XDM 5.25? I'm seeing random tumbles on targets at medium-to-long distances. Checked crimp -- doesn't appear to be an issue. Using 4.3 gr of WST to make major PF (haven't chrono'd yet -- but should be 168-ish PF based on other chrono'd loads). Thinking that twist rate of barrel plus a "slow" and heavy bullet, and the bullet isn't spinning fast enough to stabilize. Thoughts? I bought 100 rounds of factory (WWB 165 gr) and will put the 165's up head-to-head against the 200's. If I get tumbling with the 165's, something is up with the gun. If only the 200's tumble -- then something is up with my load recipe. Anything I'm missing?
