Agree with Bench on the wrist rollers. Deadlifts and other free weight lifts where you lift the weight up are also good. Inverted kettlebell cleans are great. Lots of one handed weak hand dry fire will definetly improve your grip and endurance.

Eventually, I anticipate getting a JG combat trigger and will report back.

The MOS does not mount as low as the precut for RMR. Have you shot suppressor sights? They are there for iron backups on a service gun. OEM irons don't co-witness. Also, the backstraps on the SS are designed to reproduce the 1911 grip angle. Not sure the Gen 5 do that. I pay for all those things on my Glocks so the SS is a better deal. I think the Gen 5 trigger is waaay better than the SS. Best Glock trigger they've produced.
-
Not to speak for the OP, but the trigger isn't the attraction for the SS Glocks. Adjustable backstraps, milled low for RMR, suppressor sights, cocking serrations to name a few. Just about anyone can learn to operate a stock Glock trigger but they can change it if they don't like it.
-
I believe the pistol was designed as a service weapon and so was not intended to have a light trigger. JG can probably help you out if you want it to be a game gun or just like lighter Glock triggers on a carry gun. He told me his connectors were fine in a SS and so a complete trigger package might also be. Let us know how it works out.
-
I put a JG connector in my 920 and that cleaned it up a bit. I still don't think it is as good as the stock Gen 5 trigger on my EDC 43x.

What do you mean by "better"? Do you mean which one lasts longer?

How am I more accurate with irons than a slide mounted optic?

This. Also, keep your attention on the target and don't "chase the dot". 1. Attention on target. 2. Dot shows up. 3. Press trigger. -
Thanks Modoc. I just discovered Inline Fabrication has a plate system that allows one to swap out presses onto a single base. I might go that route since it minimizes the footprint.
-
Has anyone tried using a bench grinder stand to support a SS press? It would work nicely in my work area but not sure if it's a good idea.

Same here. Friend with about 250K is a former SF guy who does Exec Protect and other contract work. Shoots strictly factory ammo and a lot of it. He ran a local gun shop and had his choice of guns. Never changed from his G17.

There are a lot of Glocks out there and I've never heard of this happening. It's hard to kill a Glock.

Hearing protection that kills background voices but allows steel to be heard?
lgh replied to RickT's topic in Steel Challenge
Completely incorrect. We must have gone to different med schools. The ear lobes have nothing to do with hearing function. Sounds from the rear are "channeled" to the EAC (ear canal) from behind and affect the ear drums, then the ossicular chain, and finally the inner ear. I've interpreted literally tens of thousands of temporal bone studies, belonged to an ENT department, and one of my colleagues is a temporal bone surgeon. -

They actually point rearward. Just stick your finger in your ear and you'll see. -
Johnny is right. I took quite a few classes on defensive shooting. Extremely useful and money well spent. Formal instruction will save you a lot of time and frustration. But eventually you will have to work some things out for your specific hand size, pistol, etc. Despite what you might hear or read on the internet, there are broad guidelines for effective shooting but there is no one-size-fits-all. Along those lines, a RDS is a great learning tool even if you prefer irons. Very good for getting grip, transitions, and trigger press worked out. And there is one thing that virtually everyone will agree on and that is the importance of dry fire and calling your shots.
-
It's probably not your sight picture. The groups are way too big for that. Do more dry firing to see where the front sight is when the trigger breaks. i.e. learn to call your shots.
-
If it weren't more expensive, I'd get a Gen 5 with a grip reduction (Ben Simonson at Boresight Solutions) and milled slide. RDS of choice. For carry, suppressor sights +/- RMR. The Gen 5 trigger on my 43x is just fine for me. I really wish SS would do something with their trigger. It's 2022 and there is no reason to have such a mushy trigger, even on a Glock.
-
It might make sense for you but not for everyone. To make them work for me, all my Glocks get grip reductions, new sights, and usually a new connector. My 43x costs me well over $1K by the time I was done with it and that is with irons. Good thing I like it. But I won't be getting rid of the SS any time soon only to have to replace it with something which is, ultimately, more expensive. OTOH, if a stock Glock was working for me I wouldn't get a SS, Zev, or anything else.

It's the RDS. Lost its elevation adj.

Is it really possible to make the gun recoil straight up and down?
lgh replied to matto6's topic in Handgun Techniques
This is an old thread but this is all you need to know. When the gun is in recoil, your attention should be shifting to the next target and the gun ends up where it started - aligned with the (new) target. All much easier said than quickly done! -
He sends the receiver out with a zero MOA base. That SHOULD work for distances in SC. And I've never had any problems with a Venom on OEM receiver. I'm not finding anyone here or on Rimfire Central who has had a similar problem. I'm going to fiddle with the Venom elevation and windage adj. and see if they are off. If they are, that's the problem. zzt who posts here has a setup similar to mine - Briley barrel with Kidd internals - and I'll see if he weighs in on this. (Incidentally the Briley eats miniMags, Win Super X, and Federal bulk without a problem. I'll see what else I have lying around to try.)
-
For anyone running a RDS on a Kidd receiver. Which scope base do you use for shooting inside 50yds? With a Vortex Venom elevation maxed out, the rifle still shoots too low with the zero MOA scope base.
-
Same here. If the brass is really dirt, I first tumble it in walnut media. Just a reminder if you are new at this. There is lead in all the media dust so tumble outside and stay upwind.

I put a Johnny G 5.5std connector in my SS. Its an improvement over the rolling break in the stock pistol. No reduction in take up but a definite wall and break. Not a light trigger but it's what I want for EDC. I'll be curious to know what others do to their Shadow Systems Glocks if they use them as game guns. I have an eye on the full size. At about 1K they have everything I would otherwise have to do on my Glocks except an acceptable trigger.
