  1. I have 2 Magnum Research switchbolts. Both are set up with the Wiland chassis. Both have Kidd triggers. Really like the rifles and the adjustability of the Wiland Chassis. I am running RTS2 red dots on both - 8 moa. I use these rifles for Steel Challenge. Very happy with them.
  2. I finally got the Volquartsen hammer installed in my ruger pcc. Very happy with the results. Noticeable improvement.
  3. Just finished the book called Attainment by Troy Basham. Quick read and well worth it.
  4. I have the Volq Ruger pcc target hammer ordered and should get it later next week. Anxious to get it installed and see the impact on the trigger.
  5. Just recently received my second Wiland chassis. Got through to them to ask about a shipping estimate and the next thing I knew I got the shipping label info and the next day was informed that the chassis had shipped. Arrived on time and in great shape. Packed very well in foam. Very happy with the product. Overall time from order to getting it was about 1 month.
  6. When I was using the c more railways on my Volquartsen scorpions I had them mounted on the Striplin 90 mount. It did move the dot closer to the bore - which I found to be beneficial. I recently switched over to c more rts2 - which I really like.
  7. I talked to Todd the other day - seems like a good guy. I am hoping (optimistic!) for 3 weeks, but not going to worry if things are running longer. Hoping for the best. The chassis really looks like it is worth the wait. If it turns out the way I think it is going to I will be putting in an order for a second chassis for my back up rifle.
  8. I just order a chassis and cheek riser and was told that there would be around a 2.5 to 3 week wait. Sounds good to me. Anxious to try it out. If things work out I will probably order another one for the back up rifle.
  9. What a great thread. Hoops - thanks for all that you contributed to it. Really great information. I currently have two volquartsen rifles and am using the axiom stock. Working out well - but I have my eye on an updated chassis. This thread was just what I was looking for.
  10. By the time you buy a buckmark and add a barrel, etc you will have almost spent enough to buy a Volquartsen scorpion. Get everything you want right out of the box. You know the old saying "buy once, cry once" Good luck with your decision.
  11. I have been using Eesox on my 22 pistols and rifles. Read a recc years ago in another forum by a gunsmith who posted on the site quite often. It has worked very well for me. Dries to a teflon like finish.
  12. I am using the tec performance thumb rest on my volquartsen pistols. Has worked out well for me. Good guy to deal with. www.tecperformance.com
  13. I have all 8 banners and have found them to be very helpful. I have them set up in my garage. I live in Florida and when it is too hot or raining I can still practice. Great product. George
  14. I like the 4.5 inch barrel on my scorpions. I have been running the c more rts2 sights in 8 moa. I used to run c more railways on a striplin 90 degree mount. Have been using my scorpions in steel challenge for a while now.
  15. I second the blackhawk axiom stock. Comfortable, lightweight and reasonable. I have them on both of my RFRO rifles.
  16. I carry my RFPO in a midway bag. I carry my mags on my belt in mag holders i got from tandemkross. Once i remove pistol from the bag and get set in the box I do not have to move my feet until I am finished shooting. Works well for me - rather than having to move and reach for my next mag.
  17. The time to try out different sequences is in practice. A wise man (and a real good steel challenge shooter) told me "the clock does not lie" I have changed things around quite a bit over the years. I will work on a new sequence in practice and if the timer is telling me it is working I will continue shooting the stage that way.
  18. I would recommend Ken Verderames book called Do You Feel the Need for Speed I believe it is available on amazon A great book for the beginner steel shooter I got a copy after I had been shooting for a while and still found many helpful hints. I feel it will kind of lessen the learning curve. Glad to hear you are enjoying the steel!!
  19. hey drysideshooter i have several scorpions and shoot them in steel challenge i have been lubing the bolts with eesox. After disassembly I clean the bolt first. After it is clean I rub some eesox on it and let it sit until the rest of the pistol is clean. The eesox does not stay real oily - it makes the bolt extremely slick. I have found this to work very well over the years. A guy that used to post on rimfirecentral always talked about eesox so i thought i would try it - have been using it ever since.
  20. Some have inquired about the thumbrest i have on my scorpions with the target style frame. I gave out the website incorrectly it is www.tecperformance.com (not tac) Great guy to deal with and a quality products. Makes the thumbrest for the target frame in two different styles.
  21. I love my scorpions for steel challenge. All of mine are the 4.5 barrels. I have had them in 6 inch - but find the 4.5 much better. Most of the guys I know that shoot the scorpions like the shorter barrel.
  22. I like to have my red dot as close to the bore as possible. Started off with c more railway. Then went to the railway mounted on a striplin 90 degree mount. Worked well. I am now going with the c more rts2 red dot. Close to the bore and much lighter than the railway/striplin combo. Closer to the bore works for me
  23. I shoot Volquartsen 22 rifles in steel challenge. I wanted to give PCC a try - did not want to spend alot of money -- so i got the ruger pcc rifle. The carry over from 22 to 9 went well. I shoot the 22 alot and I rarely shoot the pcc. But, when I shoot the pcc in a match it usually goes fairly well. Not as fast as the rimfire, but not bad.
  24. I am shooting a c more rts2 with an 8 moa on my ruger pcc more compact than the railway i shoot steel challenge with my ruger
