  1. I have caught shooters as well, but by and large it was not well enforced. Making the new dimension so large says to me that the intent is to make it a non issue, if that is the intent, why have a rule about it?
  2. As it has been the 2" rule was rarely enforced in the race divisions, now the 3 3/8" rule will NEVER be enforced so if it is never going to be enforced why have it. We should not have rules nobody cares about, and nobody enforces. Just because it used to be a rule and now its more lax is no reason to have the rule if the intent is that it doesn't matter.
  3. That's a fine way to go. If I am traveling with a smaller pistol case I put it in my other luggage, makes it harder for it to walk off. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
  4. Sorry you apparently shoot in a area with a different attitude than I have experienced. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using Tapatalk
  5. My $.02 USPSA has a large number of one and done shooters, most likely because many think they are pretty good with a pistol till they come to a match and find out that the sport is way harder than they thought. IDPA is somewhat better at retaining new shooters as it is somewhat better designed to be less intimidating to the less skilled. ICORE has a even larger problem in that the basic pool of shooters to draw from is smaller (those that shoot a DA revolver and think they are good at it and want to compete) so in practice the pool for ICORE to draw from is USPSA and IDPA shooters that want to try something different. ICORE has the double hit of drawing from a smaller potential pool of shooters and utilizing equipment that makes the game harder. I think the best bet for increasing participation is to capitalize on the differences in the game and match experience, use the rules to your advantage and run matches that are not the same as USPSA but with revos and funny targets. Also the smaller size of the ICORE matches can be a draw for many, at one club I shoot at when the registrations start to get into the mid teens they just ask if we want to be one squad or two and invariably we choose one large squad and spend the day enjoying each others company. One thing I have personally fond enjoyable at ICORE matches is the ones I have been to are less about the competition and more about the camaraderie, locally our USPSA matches have pretty large turnouts and are taken quite seriously as a competition, and while that is good, having a outlet to go shoot with your friends where winning is less important is also good.
  6. yes Big Stick My MBX 170 mag fit the USPSA 171.25mm gauge by about .010" before I filed on the back of the feed lips to give me some extra clearance. I would be very surprised if you could add tape to the bottom of one without going over length, unless you have a IPSC base pad on it (made for a 170mm gauge) sorry no idea on manufactured grip tape for them.
  7. be careful adding tape to the base doesn't push your length too long, and either bump you to open or on a bid stick in open bump you to no score
  8. I vote remove the underlined text. There is nothing worse than telling someone with a cheep nylon holster shooting their first match that they need to snap the stupid strap over their gun for the 5 seconds after make ready that it is holstered. Making their draw more complicated is not helping anything. Beyond that anyone shooting our game with a thumb break leather holster is probably going to want it snapped anyway because they are not using that gear to be competitive in the first place, and either way they are at no advantage to either a Kydex or race holster so why penalize them further.
  9. Must be fixed firmly in place pretty much wraps it up, in my experience the wobbly bridges have a platform with a fixed fault line on the platform, so the fault line is fixed firmly in place in relation to the object it is on, but I also think there are some deficiency's in the wording of that rule in relation to wobbly bridges because whatever is beyond that fault line is also attached to it so you cant fault for touching it anyway, but regardless of wording we have all chosen to accept this and just shoot the stage as is. On the planks and balance beam issue there are regularly issues at matches when they try to say that you can only stand on this part or that part of the assembly but not on these other parts, but like wobbly bridges we often just do as we are told rather than insist that the stage be run to the letter of the rule book.
  10. Take a close look at the tip of your firing pin. I had a issue recently where the tip fractured off my pin leaving a flat ish face to the pin with just rounded corners. It was hard to see with out some magnification for my old eyes. When I tore the gun down there were small disks of primer brass everywhere. Looking at the posted picture the primer does not look over pressured Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using Tapatalk
  11. The steel challenge guns I have seen have super light top ends. Their slides are usually very aggressively machined, often smaller and aluminum or TI. Frames for steel challenge guns tend not to be the extra long extra heavy ones so popular in USPSA right now as transition speed is a bigger deal.
  12. In my experience all speed shooting involves moving sights as you are making the decision to pull the trigger about .1 to .2 before it happens. So what I have found doing bill drills or any other fast split or transition shooting, is you decide to do it then watch and verify that what you expected to happen happend and make any corrections you can along the way. 13. I just have to say I love the shooters in my area, we have a bunch of certified ROs CRSs so squads always have several people that know whats going on, and they are not afraid to ask for or just use a overlay whenever there is any question on scoring a target correctly. At our last club match I was the RM when a shooter had a scoring challenge by the time I got to the stage they had the target pulled and replaced and were running shooters RO who made the call and shooter were both patiently waiting with the target, it was all so professional.
  14. I had a very CFD like design drawn up but by the time I got to cutting the ports I got lazy and did the big equal ones. The hard part vs a 19/2011 Is having the radius at the top on a different center than the pore of the comp. All that manual setup in the 4 jaw chuck is a real pain. 15. I recently went down this same path. After looking at all the differences between the 19/2011 and Tanfoglio geometry I ended up making my own comp Here is my first attempt. It's a cone on a Match/stock 3 length barrel. Its steel with 3/8" ports and no holes or side ports because it's for my wife's gun and she is a bit blast sensitive. It took way longer to make than I though. But it seems to works pretty well so far in testing. I'm still working on getting mags and loads sorted out. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using Tapatalk
  16. First thing that pops to mind is, On coated bullets without a cannelure you want to only remove the bell from the case and return it to straight damaging the coating with too much crimp is easy to do and can hurt accuracy and create leading issues. second you can try changing the OAL and see if that makes a difference in your pistol.
  17. Agreed many think its the equipment, but its not. I actually think your 2 to 3% is to high for our game at the top (as long as it runs) at the bottom I will concede a shooter switching to a nice SA gun from a stock GLOCK will likely be able to mask enough bad trigger control to gain a few % off the bat but that's about it and as you get better the difference gets smaller and smaller till it's gone.
  18. Imagine how hard it would be to get people to Golf if most people trying it for the first time were 160+ over par? sounds crazy right but how many shooters, who think they can shoot, when they show up to their first match finish in the 30% range? that's like thinking you can golf and still being 160 over. Or imagine you have been riding a Motorcycle on and off foy years and decide to try going to the track for the first time and you get passed by the same guy 2 or 3 times a lap. It fine to think your OK at something, its another thing to have it pointed out that you are actually very very bad at it. and lets face it most of us started out very very bad at this, it take a special kind of personality to go wow I am bad at that, i can do better and will work to do so, vs Forget that I'm doing something else.
  19. If you are finished unload and show clear? scored as shot.
  20. Sometimes I wish we had a like button. My personal issue with stages not being legal to the letter of the rule book is having to decide if you want to just shoot it as is, or be perceived as being a dick because you raised a stink about something that nobody else noticed, or is "close" to legal or "doesn't matter its the same for everyone" all that crap takes away from your ability to just shoot the match.
  21. yes it is, but it still is a answer to the question asked
  22. A guy on my squad shot a hundo this weekend in 99-63 in carry optics. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using Tapatalk
  23. should fit Tanfoglio fine, I have modified several Tanfoglio mags to fit Caspian and its not that bad and going from tan to Caspian is removing some material so the other way should be easy. if you want 170mm 38 Tanfoglio mags they are available. I have a couple I need to get listed once I get my wife's Gold team running 9mm 100%
  24. I guess I'm confused by the desire to penalize the bottom feeders, it makes as much sense to me as penalizing open or limited shooters because they are also using equipment that is better for achieving a good score than a classic gun. My .02 if you want to open your match to non revo shooters just make up a division for them. If they happen to win high over all that's fine because high over all is not a actual thing, you are only competing with the guys in your division. I honestly dont care if a guy shoots a 50 round mag pcc kn a stage where I have to reload every 6 rounds, we are not competing against each other. If a bottom feeder is 100 seconds faster than the top open (revoler) shooter the top open shooter is still the top open shooter, likewise for limited and limited 6 and classic. If as a group you feel some form of humiliation if an auto finishes at the top of the combined results list, do not let them in the match. If on the other hand you want some extra setup help or money for targets let them play in there own division and have fun competing against your competition in your division. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using Tapatalk
  25. I would go with bump to open for non compliance with division requirments, just like starting with 11 in the mag or a magazine on a magnet. Also, manually decocking to half cock will result in a trip to open (sept 2015 ruling) so I would go with full cocked and safety on being a similar offence with a similar penalty.
