Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Thanks for the welcome, gents. Yes, SA is a tricky place to own FA's. If one wants to own more than only a few FA's, you need to get yourself certified as a "dedicated hunter" or "dedicated sport shooter" with your clubs (which themselves need to be registered with the Central Firearms Registry (CFR) of the SA Police Service) and to have the club "endorse" the need and purpose for wanting to own the specific FA concerned, before you can proceed to take possession of it. I am certified as both and, despite this (and being an active sport shooter and hunter), each and every FA licence application is closely reviewed by the CFR and can (and does usually) take in the region of 3-6 months (yes, you read it right, MONTHS!) before you can collect your FA from the gunshop (or person) from whom you bought it... this is after you had paid for it (in full) at the original date that you decided to get the FA. All rather frustrating and not nearly as easy as I understand is the case in the USA!!
  2. Hi All, I am an avid firearm enthusiast and have been (and continue to be) involved in all aspects of lawful firearm ownership and use. This includes being:-- an avid IDPA shooter (currently shoot in the ESP and SSP divisions as a SS with my G17, Gen 4 pistol); a keen DMG (defensive multi gun) shooter (with my G17 pistol, Daniel Defense DDM4V5 .223 rifle and SAR Arms, SASP semi-auto 12 gauge shotgun); a committed clay pigeon shooter (mainly sporting clays and skeet disciplines); and an ethical hunter with rifles (mainly my 30.06 Sako Hunter rifle) and wingshooter (with my Beretta 12 gauge shotguns). I look forward to learning from all of you about how best to improve my sport shooting performance and improving my rankings and placings at club, league, national and international IDPA competitions and matches. For my sins, I am also a reloader and run a Dillon RL550B press for my 9mmP and .223 ammo. Cheers for now! Tayls
