I also wanted standard sights but with the option to convert to open.. local gunsmith made this sight for me. base with rail and mount for my aimpoint. woks great!

Hi, I have changed the grips of mine to wood ones.. I have rather large hands and used the "closed back" grips from Karl Nill. Then sanded them round.. similar to the JM style grip but kept the finger grooves. Done the same to my 986 so very similar feel in reloads (strong hand reload) and I actually think it looks good too :-)

Hi, I have not posted anything before... but I thought I would in this thread... I have made some leather holsters myself and used some patterns I found on tandyleather.com and the rest I made myself. Also I have "covered" a blade tech holster for my 986. I wanted the rigidity and design of the blade tech and the looks of leather :-) I have made the belts too. My current 986 rig is stiffened with plastic sheet behind the leather and velcro stitched to the back so I can wear it firmly on my velcro belt. Here a picture of my latest projects.
