Not a problem.  BTW, a Cheely Custom gun is considerably better built than the CK.  The CK is a nice gun, but built to a lower price point.  That involved some compromises.   I'm not 100% certain that Matt will build a complete Open gun anymore.  You should talk to him.  If yes, both he and Bob will build you an Open gun with a bald Unique slide and no engraving.  You can then send everything to Gans or someone similar to have any slide lightening/engraving/etc. done that you want.  That is exactly what I did when I built my 2011 USPSA Open and 1911 SCSA Open gun pair.  I sent them to Gans for identical treatment.

Last I heard when I talked to Matt, he was 100% focused on parts and parts only. Only occasionally building a gun if at all. He used to build the Match Gun for Ryan Rocks, and now that has fallen to someone else. That may have changed over the last 5-6 months since I spoke with him, so just have to ask him I guess.

A few improvements in the MPX from Gen1/2 to the current Competition:

    ·        Improved carrier system ( eliminated the gouging in the upper under hard use)

    ·        Improved buffer to match the new carrier

    ·        Improved ejector mounting system ( eliminated the gouging in the upper under hard use)

    ·        Improved gas relief ports on the piston chamber ( reduced back presser,  fouling and improved operation with a wider range of powder burn rates)

    ·        Eliminated 2 vent holes in the upper around the gas relief ports to reduce fouling of optics

    ·        Improved handguard fit to reduce flex

    ·        Improved extractor, spring, insert and O ring

Awesome! Thank you for the info!

CODA Evolution sells poorly engineered, low quality parts, then disappears when you ask for them support.

Purchased their handguard, had it professionally installed by a gunsmith, and have had endless problems with it. First it spins, then it slips forward, then the trunnion deforms and the carbon tube gets stuck in place. Just a horrible design and horrible quality parts.

I have contacted the company requesting support 4 times, they have not responded since the first attempt. Since then they have completely ignored my pleas for help. They clearly do not care about their customers or the fact that they sell garbage products. They are preying on the fact that most buyers will be collecting parts from various places and will be out of date range to issue a credit card charge back before the customer discovers the utter junk that CODA sold them.

Avoid this company like the plague! If you want a carbon fiber handguard look to their competitors that offer quality products and stand behind them like : Mark Isler Customs, Lancer Systems, or Brigand Arms.

Hmmmm, that sounds extremely odd. I am not doubting you, or your experience btw. I have just had nothing but good experiences with CODA products. I have used the handguard and the comps from them for years, and I know one of the co-owner's personally. If you would like, I can try to get you in touch with him, or at least someone that can help you.

Thats the thing, you don't get to choose the pattern (bladetech), the pattern is not a option. After reading the holster description again, it appears they come with a universal platform that is compatible. So it appears what I need to order is just the holster with no belt attachment. Yup, probably made this more difficult than it should or the company could have answered.

I can reach out to him for you and have him check the post so he can help resolve your issue here.

  5. As the title says, should I invest in an MPX Competition model? Pros? Cons? I have owned a Sig MPX Gen 1 in the past and loved it, but eventually went back to an AR-9. Now I am looking to get another one, and I want to hear what kind of differences this one has vs the older generation models. Thanks in advance!

  6. I've owned AR-9s and an MPX. I am going to go back to the MPX here very soon due to how flat it shoots. I only shot JHPs out of it due to trying to reduce carbon build up. I never had a real issue with it at that point. It also was a Gen 1, so I upgraded the extractor pin and spring with an O-ring and it ran like a top at that point. I plan on purchasing a Competition model soon.

  7. Personally, I like loading the night before. It allows me to go walk stages when I get to the range, and bulls#!t with my buddies. Yeah I can bs with the boys while loading mags, but most of the time they are walking stages at this point. I guess it really just comes down to personal preference. 🤷‍♂️

6k loaded thus far, no fouling or issues.  I've been using Blue Bullets without a problem, their coating is a lot different than all others.  I'll be trying PD's soon~  but for the meantime, the blues are working just fine! Thanks

Gotcha, I've just never been a fan of coated in comp guns (Open or otherwise). It all just comes down to personal preference really. Cheers!

  9. Just out of curiosity, why are you loading coated bullets for open? You’re going to get a lot of lead fouling in the comp that’s going to build up a lot over time. I’d recommend a jacket bullet, HP’s definitely. You can get Precision Deltas for a really great price for 2k.

But to touch in the load data, I run AA#7 with Zero 115gr Conical HP and I love how gassy this powder is. I have a shorty with 2 popples and I have to run 11.3gr at 1.160 OAL 😬. Yes I know that’s a lot, you should see the looks I get from people when I tell them how much powder is in there lol. It makes 173 PF out of my gun and I use Win SR primers. I used to use HS-6 for a long while and may still try out some loading with it again, but I just really like how the gun tracks with the AA7. Also, I get much more consistent throws with AA7 than H-6.

  10. So, as the title says, does anyone have any experience with these primers? I have used Win SR for my open loads for over a year now, and I have never had an issue. I am thinking about checking these out cause I have seen some for a really great price, so I figured why not? I figure they will work just fine, I just wanted to see if anyone out there had used them before. Thank you in advance!

  11. I once double charged a .40 load with Titegroup on my old Lee 4 hole turret press. Needless to say my Glock didn’t handle that lol.

But yes, easy to do in a 9mm case. For my open loads I used 11.3 gr of AA7 for. 9 Major
