  1. The mixed head stamp brass will definately give you a little more variance. I am loading 9mm for minor power factor to 1.14 oal. I give myself an allowance of +/- .005, so 1.135-1.145 goes to a match, anything outside of that within reason goes in practice ammo. On my 550 I get an occasional round outside of my allowance, but it’s not the norm. If you are getting a large quantity way outside of spec., I would be investigating further, otherwise I would chalk it up to the mixed brass.
  2. I like the pre-cut stuff from Stoeger’s pro shop.
  3. I am left handed, right eye dominant and shoot pistol left handed. For me personally, I wouldn’t do it any other way. As others have said, after some practice you will naturally draw to your dominant eye and never know the difference.
  4. I had issues with wilson’s, but tripp’s ran good.
  5. When I bought my oakley’s I was told the deep water blue prism lenses had the highest contrast of all of their lenses. I think they are probably the best I have tried so far.
  6. Just donate it to your local IDPA club and be done!
  7. I use an extended mag release, but the thing that made the biggest difference was changing the spring. I went with the one from rock your Glock. It drops the spring weight from about 5 lbs to around 2.5 lbs. As a lefty, I found this to be the biggest help.
  8. I enjoy a variety, as long as they are all well designed.
  9. I shoot the 147 grain flat nose 9mm from Sns and they have been a great bullet for me. I would suggest trying a little less crimp as others have suggested.
  10. I could never wear the speedcross 3 because of how narrow they were. I wear a 2EE width and the new speedcross 4 in wide fit perfect.
  11. You shouldn’t be looking for confirmation of hits or misses on the target. I would be working on shot calling and not looking for holes in paper. For that matter, steel should be the same. If you are waiting to hear your hit on steel or see it fall, you are taking way too much time.
  12. Glock 34 gen 4 147grain Coated flat nose 3.3 grains of vvN320 1.14 oal
  13. For competition pistols I use sight image 2, but for my carry pistol I use sight image 3. I don’t use adjustable sights so I just learn my point of impact at different distances.
  14. When I’m at a match and I know someone is new, the only thing I care about is if they are being safe. Secondly, do they need any guidance to make sure they enjoy themselves and come back.
  15. For stationary targets, make sure you know poa vs. poi for your particular shotgun, choke, and load. Setting up some paper and pattern testing different loads and chokes can be very helpful.
  16. I always use red outside because of too much green in the backgrounds, but would like to try green at the indoor matches.
  17. I have tried Wilson and Tripp, my pistol did not like the Wilson's at all. So, I'm currently running all Tripp with Dawson aluminum base pads. As good as they run, that's what I'm sticking with.
  18. On Dawson's website they have a tutorial on how to figure out the front sight exactly. Might be called sight calculator. It gives you exact distance and anything else you should need to know.
  19. I'm located about 30 miles south of Champaign, Il. I am a lifelong shooter, but most of my experience is with hunting and plinking. I started out shooting IDPA about a year, and then transitioned to predominantly USPSA. So, I'm still green, and have a lot to learn and a lot of room for improvement. I shoot ESP and SS Minor. There is not a lot of matches in our backyard, but there are a lot of matches in every direction right at a 2 hour or less drive. Some of the matches I have shot or hope to soon, would be; CISS in Bloomington, Lefthanders in Loami, CIPS in Havana, Gunslingers in Curran, Chillicothe, Wildcat Valley in Indiana, and I think there is one or two in Terre Haute Indiana. If I shoot IDPA it is at the Windsor gun club or Darnell's in Bloomington. I have not started reloading yet, but plan to very soon. The weather here hasn't been terrible, but it definately could be better. Seems like every time we get into the 50's or 60's, it is either raining or blowing 30+ mph.
  20. Thanks everyone for a great website. I have been lurking here for a little while and decided this forum is too good not to join. The info and help is great. Steve from central Illinois.
