Who's stoked about the new Tisas Night Stalker 2011?
mreed911 replied to notanoperator993's topic in 1911-style Pistols
If I recall these are spring pretty heavy from the factory. -

No clue. Don't have one yet. Did you mistake me for someone else? -
BUL/Magnum Research bull bareel 4.25" 1911 - great build quality

I can't shoot IDPA. I don't follow directions well. -
Any movement towards a decision in Limited Optics / Carry Optics?
mreed911 replied to Khaot1c's topic in USPSA/IPSC Rules
It was provisional for a year as-is, wasn't it? So May 1st, 2024 would be the deadline? -

Good point. Might have to test it in Limited 10 instead. 4.33" -

I don't remember where I saw this, but the design of the Prodigy grip surface is something around "light grip with a light touch, more grippy the harder you grip it" in terms of the surface of the grip texture and how it's designed to set into your hand. Edit: Found it: https://store.springfield-armory.com/echelon-grip-module/ - look for Adaptive Grip Texture. -
I picked up a BUL made Magnum Research 1911 CS because I didn't have a bull barrel 1911 in .45. Pleasantly surprised by the really tight slide-to-frame fit and the 3.5# trigger out of the box. More pretravel and overtravel than I'd like, but the overtravel is adjustable for sure (haven't pulled the trigger to see if it has pretravel tabs). That's a minor quibble. In a 4.25" no-rail 1911, the forward balance in this feels nice. Ready to get to the range and run it through its paces. The front-strap checkering is a nice inclusion, too. Have a stainless MSH/Magwell on order (personal preference) but beyond that I might have to try this out in Single Stack just to see where it lands.

So is the next-step direct comparison to the MAC and Tisas Carry DS the Staccato P? Would seem so at 4.25 vs. 4.4 inches. -

8# Girsan heavier, or 5-6# out of the box heavier? I had to go look at pics of them to see this and you're right. They are. That's strange. I wonder why that is? -
I'm fully convinced I could restrict you to a 3" 1911 with flush-fit mags and you'd outshoot most Production shooters.

edited to add this is sarcasm.

The pre-production press was confusing - I'd seen RMR and RMSc/K, then I'd seen cut for RMSc/K but with an RMR plate, then just RMR plate. Will be interesting to see what actually ships. -
Okay, fine... I'll do it. And for those in A4 that just spit soda all over their keyboards, I'm sorry. Edit: For those without my dry sense of humor, this was sarcasm.

Primary Arms GLx RS15 red dot released... with C-More footprint
mreed911 replied to mreed911's topic in Gear & Accessories
What would you put it on? The only thing I have currently with a C-More RTS plate (which I'm not sure is the right fit) is an MOS Glock. The AOS plates for Prodigy don't seem to have a C-More variant. For Staccato, you'd need CMore's RTS2 plate. -

If I picked one up it would be the Night Stalker variant. -
I'd been waiting on this since the announcement last year to see what Primary would be able to deliver. I expected being a larger dot it would have a larger footprint, but C-More? Sure, there's the Romeo3 / 3XL, but it's a strange decision as it's not a typical plate/cut option for optics. https://www.primaryarms.com/primary-arms-glx-rs15-mini-reflex-sight-acss-vulcan-dot-reticle Even with the Vulcan reticle I'm not very excited about a 3 MOA dot, either. At least that's $300 I won't be spending.

Really good feedback, Shred. My order got canceled by an unscrupulous dealer, so I'm waiting for a restock. Current prices for those left are near-MSRP... not worth the wait. Did you get the MAC, too? Would love to hear feedback on that one. The Tisas is supposed to be RMSc/Holosun K cut from the factory, I thought. -

Pre-production ads said Holosun K compatbility, too, but I'm wondering if they got that confused with C, which is RMR compatible. Depends. Staccato offers both, more for carry weight than anything. For competition, steel would by my preferred choice. Next biggest difference is the bull barrel on the MAC vs. bushing barrel on the Tisas. -

Note that that was a pre-production review. I'm looking forward to the final version. They're also the only one I've seen with any views of the optics system. -
Thoughts after first matches with Prod 15?
mreed911 replied to rowdyb's topic in USPSA/IPSC Shooting
I might look at Production here and there again, but other than stage planning I don't see 10 rounds to 15 rounds making a difference. -
Practiscore: https://practiscore.com/sig-sauer-academy-florida-everyday-carry-edc-championship/register Location: 4845 E SR 44 New Smyrna Beach, Florida 32168 The SIG SAUER Academy is excited to host the first Florida Everyday Carry (EDC) Championship at our Florida Outpost at the Volusia County Gun Club! This match will use a completely new ruleset than our previous P365 EDC Championships held in New Hampshire. One of the biggest changes is that ALL BRANDS OF PISTOLS ARE ALLOWED TO COMPETE! The rulebook is included in the match documents below. The match will be conducted in a one-day format with 10 stages. Competitors may choose to shoot on either Saturday or Sunday. Staff will shoot on Friday. The shooters brief will be held at 0830 each day and shooting will begin by 0900. Shooters may arrive and registration will open at 0730. The new rulebook draws heavily on the PCSL rulebook with modifications made to encourage the use of common concealed carry equipment. The divisions are designed around common concealed carry pistols. The micro-compact divisions are designed to accommodate P365XL sized pistols while the compact divisions are designed to accommodate P320 Compact sized pistols. Stages will be limited to a maximum of 24 rounds. Scoring will be hit factor! Concealment is required. We highly encourage you to compete with your actual carry setup!

Picked up a little bit of Open history (S&W 3566 / Briley .40)
mreed911 replied to mreed911's topic in Open Pistols
Among the first, for sure. Released in .356 TSW which then found itself below the "40 caliber" threshold for Major. Funny enough, 9mm bullets can now make Major in both Limited and Open. In Limited, by being loaded in a .357 SIG case (but not .356 TSW, even if it were still available), and in Open by meeting power factor requirements. -

These are great! And some massive optics. On another note, if anyone has one of the S&W magwells for these sitting around extra, I'm looking for one. I also acquired a 9mm Target Champion but it came without the magwell and they're functionally unobtanium.
