If the patent examiner had read 'Pistols, a Modern Encyclopedia' by Henry Stebbins with a contribution on the subject by Bert Shay, he might have turned down their application.
So I assume you are saying this is a copy of another persons patented work ?

Just checking if anyone has seen/used this unit.
I'm not the maker or seller of it, just noticed an ad in the most recent Handloader magazine.

Those go back a while, when Meister bullets were a local company. It has been at least ten years since we sold ingots. Never a large seller, but good alloy.
Thanks for the information. I assume the press came the same time frame.

When I purchased my used 550 the seller gave me a couple 20 lb boxes of lead ingots. Just curious when Dillon sold this as the boxes were labeled by Dillon. I don't see it for sale now, unless I just can't find it.

Have you considered shooting USPSA? We'd love to have you! Check out http://maineshootersforum.com/SMFor/index.php. I bet you could find other shooters to carpool with. Most matches are found just a short drive off of I-95. In just a few months we'll be hosting (Augusta) the Area 7 Championships and that'll be worth going to in any capacity. But we also have monthly matches. Hope to see you there!
That was my hard sell. If you want to shoot we'd love to have you.
I'll check out the web site. Next Thursday is my monthly club meeting and I will see if some guys want to check it out.

This 550 is in fine shape. I did a "major cleaning" as seen in one of the videos on Dillon's site. Removed all dried grease and oil and re lubed with synthetic blue grease I use in my shop. The ram got 30wt oil.
The issue I was having was the priming system. I called and got the answers I needed and ordered the primer magazines, small primer slider, bearing, primer catcher cup and some other gear.
Thanks for the suggestions.

Thanks for the info. I did call Dillon and place an order for the gear. Also asked the other questions I had. Nice folks for sure.

This press does have #1 shell plate, a powder measure, priming set up and 30.06 dies.
I do have a complete Hornady LnL AP and want to "test" out this 550 without spending a pile of $ but want to prime on the press. I understand my other dies will work and will use another case activated powder measure if necessary.
Do you use a separate tube in the primer feeder ?
Is the primer catcher cup available or is there a better device ?
I do not have anything under the primer slide like I see in pictures (delrin bearing?) Is it needed ?
Can you just purchase a small primer cup ?
I'm not sure of the age of this press, the powder measure and primer set up look different than the pictures on Dillon's site.
I will take a few pictures tomorrow. Maybe it will help identify what I need to get things running.
Thanks, FWest

OK, just found the design of the press interesting. Thought others may as well.
